doublespeak, newspeak

http://www.newspeakdictionary.com/ns-dict.html

Doublespeak - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Doublespeak is most reminiscent of Orwell's "newspeak" when it is used by a government agency to cover up something unpleasant. The government may find the need to talk about something that has negative connotations to large portions of the public, and avoids backlash by replacing the term with a new one that most people will not recognize as the same thing. Thus "area denial munitions" means "landmines", "physical persuasion" and "tough questioning" mean "torture", and "operational exhaustion" means "shell shock". Others include the changing of the UK War Office to the Ministry of Defence and of the United States Department of War to the Department of Defense.

Newspeak - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Thus forcing the use of Newspeak, according to Orwell, describes a deliberate intent to exploit this degeneration with the aim of oppressing its speakers. (restrict free speech)

The basic idea behind Newspeak is to remove all shades of meaning from language, leaving simple dichotomies (pleasure and pain, happiness and sadness, good thoughts and thoughtcrimes) which reinforce the total dominance of the State. Similarly, Newspeak root words served as both nouns and verbs, which allowed further reduction in the total number of words; for example, "think" served as both noun and verb, so the word "thought" was not required and could be abolished. A staccato rhythm of short syllables was also a goal, further reducing the need for deep thinking about language. (See duckspeak.) Successful Newspeak meant that there would be fewer and fewer words -- dictionaries would get thinner and thinner.

Politically correct euphemisms

Charges of Newspeak are sometimes advanced when a group tries to replace a word/phrase that is politically unsuitable (e.g. "civilian casualties") or offensive (e.g. "murder") with an alternative, inoffensive euphemism (e.g. "collateral damage"), or falsely innocuous (as in "liquidate the kulaks" or "resettle the Jews", as used by the Soviets and Nazis, respectively, to conceal their democides).

Some people maintain that to make certain words or phrases "unspeakable" (thoughtcrime) through the attempt to make language politically correct restricts what ideas may be held (Newspeak) and is therefore tantamount to censorship. Others believe that expunging terms that have fallen out of favor or become insulting will make people less likely to hold "outdated" or offensive views.

well, orwell's that ends well, lol

They could understand in Penticost. Not like today with all this demonic/ reptilian soul possession and claiming to be something they are not. That's why they lie and are deceived. Everything else is fiddling while Rome is thankfully burning.

I do not understand you Titurel,
Most people on here seem pretty cool,
You can almost discern what they are like,
from their posts,
See when they are having a good day/bad day etc,
Let them get on with it,
Even James 777 is discernable,
and seems like an ok chap>
but recently ,
people like times7,
and
positive terror,
del No666,
have started to worry me a bit,
Very hard to discern,

Please tell me Titural you are one of the good guys,
You seem to be,
Maybe you like debate???

I like debate but the phase shift level temperature is rising. It's getting hotter. let's not get lost in trivial pursuits and let's address those who wish to lord over us and would rule us as a hive mentality. Hives is not a very pleasant condition. We can talk platitudes all day but it will get us no where because we need to make a bigger effort to be heard over the din. Platitudes and political correctnesses are designed to lull people into a false sense of security. It's this hypnotising effect of the reptilian eye. If I were a bad person, I wouldn't be angry about the way govenrment is getting more powerful and not enough people are seeing the dangers of it. In the meanwhile, the world I once knew is crumbling away. Might as well go out with laughter, and a big bang!

More Lessons of the Shadow

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In Mel Gibson's film, The Passion of Christ, there is a strange scene in the Garden of Gethsemane at night. A pale, devilish-looking being appears, and a maggot comes out of her nose and goes back in again. She says to Jesus, "No one man can bear the full burden of sin...saving souls is too costly." In essence she was saying no man is big enough to take away the sins of the world. She was Gibson's addition to the script, her line is not in the Gospels. But he was very clever in adding it because he obviously sees the truth of it. The maggot-lady represents Jesus' subconscious shadow talking to him about his darkness. She is his feminine softness appearing in the moonlight pointing out his arrogance, foolishness and macho.

Jesus always denied his dark side. He was tempted three times in the desert by that darkness. First, the Devil said, "If you are who you say you are turn these stones into bread." It is part of our dark side to want to become the great provider, and have millions admire us and thank us for our success and generosity. It is how we get to play god. The film Pretty Woman was a huge hit because it tells the story of a street girl raised up by a billionaire to become his queen. The ego wants to be miraculously raised up, or it wants to be the one that does the raising--the god-like being that can descend from a great height to bestow grace and favor and healing upon ordinary people. It is the narcissistic psychosis of the would-be savior. The problem in the desert was that Jesus couldn't turn stones into bread. His shadow was showing him that.

the stuff on BBC2 about India
And the partition,
Shanjeef Bashkur??
Never really thought much of him before,
But his journey in Punjab,
To Pakistan was brilliant,
Bagpipes and Border controls,
I think it was one of the best programmes,
Ever on the BBC,
The Kasmir one tonight
was good,
Opens your eyes a bit,
Travelling to those places would be Brilliant>

The woman, in the film, with the bogey going out and into her nose by it's own volition, was lying. She was acting the role of the Whore of Babylon. There is a very similar woman to her in Wagner's "Parsifal" music drama. She is called Kundry, Rose of Hell. Christ showed John, in Revelation, how he overcame the Beast, thus overcoming his ego. What he experienced in the temptations in the wilderness, were just the three preliminary steps. He took steps 4, 5, 6, and 7 in Revelation, the last book of the Bible. as Oscar Wilde once said,

"The Book of Life begins with a man and a woman in a garden. It ends with Revelations." -

He said the above in his play, "A Woman of No Importance"

The woman who likes to claim she's most important shall only end up lifting up her veil and then being forced to sit in the dust through her own pride and hubris.

"I sit a Queen", she says, "I shall never see mourning!" LOL!

None but the lonely heart
Can know my sadness!
Alone and parted far
from Joy and gladness...
Heaven's boundless arch I see,
Spread out above me...
Ach! what a distant dread
to one who loves me!
My senses reel,
My entrails are burning.
None but the lonely heart
Can know my sadness!

randy cheers, both the newspeak/doublespeak are worth knowing about. also the stuart wilde stuff is some of the best stuff i have ever read.

cheeb, yes i have been watching, i'm panjabi. partition is what the british are well known for, divide and rule, from india, palestine, middle east now eg iraq, and eire. the IRA killed the last vicerory of india, lord mountbatten, the cunt who split panjab up. one day i would love for panjab to be united, given back to its rightful people. they split up haryana, aswell, they split panjab into 4, not 2. nevermind, us panjabis might have had our homeland divided, but the world is ours, lol. also the british did one very stupid thing which if you believe in legend, has sealed their fate, us panjabis know it, lol.

in fact the irish helped the indians fight for independance, they know about having your homeland ripped in two, to serve imperial agendas, bloodlust. the land of ARYA-EIRE.
