Rupert Shelldrake writes a lot on this subject:

We all hear stories about dogs who know that their owners are coming home before anyone else does. It was even featrued as part of the plot of "Eastenders" where Wellard the dog knew that Robbie Jackson (the hyperDarwinist contempt-figure) was returning home when he hasn't told anyone. Has anyone else got experinces like this? Here's mine, and involves not a dog, but a hamster!:

I had a hamster called DW and I used to put new sawdust bedding in her cage regularly. One day I forgot to buy new bedding and put an old magazine on the floor of the cage instead. It was no good; the cage soon began to stink of urine and rotten food. I knew I had to go to the pet shop to buy some more bedding. I was going to go the following day, but in the end I went the same day because of an amazing experience:

I was sitting on my bed looking at DW in her cage when suddenly she stopped moving around and stared at me; our eyes met! This was weird because I've never had a hamster do that before or since. And for a brief moment I felt that she was speaking to me telepathically. She was begging me to put proper bedding in her cage! She was very uncomfortable and needed new bedding now!

The link between us only lasted a split-second then she went back to normal.

Aww that's nice :)

I always tell my cats that I'm going to the shop, you know, I like to let them know what's going on :D and most of the time when I return my PaddyWaddyBaby is waiting at the window for me, I blow kisses to him at the window and he puts his paws on the glass in response. My other cat MarmyLadyBaby is too lazy to exert herself and rightly so, she's a lady! Don't know if he's psychic or not but I always feel flattered that he's waiting for me, or is it the food?

Two of my three cats are definitely telepathic. They know when I'm sad, or happy etc. If sad, they BOTH want to sniggle with me....despite the fact they hate each other, they will tolerate each other if they feel I need comforting.

I had an Alexandrine parrot I reared from a baby. She and I were very close and we had a very strong telepathic relationship (parrots are naturally telepathic), and when she died suddenly at age 2 1/2, it was almost more pain than I could endure. Just like a child dying. She stayed with me more than a week before her spirit would leave. She wouldn't go because she could feel how much I was mourning her loss.....she didn't want to leave me, and i didn't want her to go. One day I saw her walking towards me and I told her I was going to be alright now as i felt strong enough to cope without her round, and it was time for her to follow the light and go. She looked up at me and our eyes met (yes, I could still see her) and I knew she understood. She left that day and has only been back one time very briefly to say hello.

I still miss her. :(

Stop it, I've got a lump in my throat! Animals/birds/pets are so lovely, so glad you had such a deep connection. You'll see her again. I know what you mean about spirits being around you, I've experienced the same thing but with family members although I told them all to f-off last year just before Christmas and they are no longer around, I sort of hate them now and they know it.

I'm not sure if I believe cats & dogs, or any other animal can sense magnetism or spirits.
But only because I've never seen the proof, or a pet going nuts at a 'spirit', but they could I guess. Not sure.

one day I was feeling not that great and my belly was hurting and my dog came over and put her head on it and followed me around the whole day and when I was in the kitchen she was weeping (best way I can describe it) as if to say go back to bed.
