I also read a while back, as hutanic pointed out, that this maitreya dude is being heralded as the second coming, aligned with the expectation of the returned messiah, this guy apparently will unite all religions, through the extra (NASA) prop of a hologram which will project in the sky all religious spiritual masters (christ, budha, krisnha etc) and merge them into one.....this is definately part of nwo one world gov and religion.

My own ideas about the second coming was the breaking through of the imprisioned consciousness to reunite with our true self/higher self and grounding it to create 'heaven' on earth, the second coming was about the rising of the goddess, of the planet earth, she is not destined to be destroyed by the lower frequencies, she has been promised spiritual ascesion (our movement through the photon band maybe?).....we are the second coming, all of us, there is no messiah to wait for because the consciousness is already here, patiently waiting to be activated.

Who knows for sure, but I know one thing, ol' maitreya can be whoever he wants but I ain't following!!;)

"will lose their doubts, and the torrents of their cravings will be cut off: free from all misery they will manage to cross the ocean of becoming; and, as a result of Maitreya's teachings, they will lead a holy life. Creme and The Reappearance of the Christ
In 1980 Creme wrote a book called The Reappearance of the Christ and the Masters of Wisdom, which is an account of his telepathic communication with Maitreya and the history of his involvement with the occult dating back to the 1940's. These messages received from Maitreya represents the most dominate strain of the present-day New Age eschatological religion.

The Future Coming of Maitreya
Maitreya’s coming is characterized by a number of physical events. The oceans are predicted to decrease in size, allowing the Maitreya to traverse them freely. On his "Day of Declaration", hewill go on international television worldwide and telepathically every human being will hear his message for his plan to transform humanity in his or her native language but it will be telepathic.

Benjamin Creme was born in Glasgow, Scotland in 1922. In his early years he studied widely in the "esoteric philosophy" (i.e., occult teachings) of such writers as Helena Blavatsky and Alice Bailey. While this example may be laughable in its crudity, not all of Creme's apologetics are so easily dismissed. The central scenario, for example, of the relationship between Jesus of Nazareth and Maitreya the Christ, a damnable blasphemy to be sure, nevertheless has a certain macabre consistency, the fascination of horrific evil. In reality Jesus was a fourth-degree initiate and one of the older disciples of the Masters of Wisdom. He appeared before in biblical times as Joshua, the son of Nun, then as Isaiah, and again as Joshua in the book of Zachariah. In Palestine he made the great sacrifice of allowing himself to be used by Maitreya to fulfil His mission during the three years following the baptism in the River Jordan. During his life, Jesus also symbolically enacted the five initiations which lead one to Mastership. The experience on the cross was the enactment of the 4th initiation for Jesus (his birth, the baptism, and the transfiguration on the mount symbolize the first three), while at the same time Maitreya underwent a higher initiation. Benjamin Crème - Maitreya Meetings
In an interview with Art Bell, Benjamin Crème was asked he had physically met with Maitreya in London. To which he replied:
I have, but not in his real form. I met him, uh, as a woman, a refugee woman in a train in London with a child and she, heheh, so-called "she", asked me for some money, I gave her some money. The child looked miserable and she went up and down the, the uh, train, you know, begging, but ("Yes...") in the carriage where I met her there was no one else in the carriage so she wasn't making much money. And uh, the child actually was the Master Jesus. And this sort of happening occurs all the time.

The Masters work together. Maitreya and the Master Jesus seem to be incredibly close and they work together all the time. Sometimes one is a man. The other time the other one is a man, and so on... they change positions and change appearance and so on. Although he is said to communicate telepathically with Englishman Benjamin Creme, who serves as Maitreya's official mouthpiece.
And that he last time he met Maitreya was in California:

I have in my possession in storage, a painting done by CW Leadbeter of Krishna, the so-called world teacher.

Absolutely NO warmth coming from this painting. It's quite chilling, in fact.

And all these contactees saying the beings from Plaeides are here to help us...yeah, they're going to help us...right into the cook pot.

I think if someone was actually able to get the admiration of the whole world, this would of course require that he SEEM to be helping. Makeing people more comfortable in the matrix would certainly SEEM to be helping (ending world hunger, ending war, etc. etc. you know ending all the things the Illuminati have been doing in order to set us up for THEIR "Maitreya") but in reality makeing people more comfortable in the 3rd dimension just lowers the chances of their awakeing to a higher state of consciousness. Interesting - In Buddhism there is a Future Buddha Maitreya, but he is not supposed to come until the Golden Age - currently they say we are in the Copper Age (or Kali Yuga - I think near the end of that or just after is Copper???) But the point is, the Golden age is not for many kalpas each of which are some hundreds of thousands of years long - I'd be very sus on any so called Maitreya showing up before 2012!

I've seem a few of the books and they are very wacky stuff - v. New Age, I think it could be the New Age religion they may bring out some Maitreya - I actually met someone who was a UN World Peace Ambassador of some sort one year and he was heavily into this kryon stuff and talking about how they had everything worked out in their group to ensure they could win any election, vote etc thru the use of "magic" numbers - using numbers to ensure there was always a majority, one more in their favor in the room sort of thing... Seemed very anti-peace or democratic process to say the least, he seemed to be using neuro lingustic programming on people in a highly adept way which was quite creepy and fascinating. Interesting little experience anyway.
I also came across a book on maitreya which has been published by "Tara Press" Hollywood and London, it seems very similar to the Kryon books and very strange, no real substance, just all this New Age assurance that all is well and in the hands of these great masters, etc... It seems like it is a buddhist publication from "Tara Press" - yet is unlike any such publication I've ever seen, has no buddhist teachings or any kinship to their philosophy - my feeling is that it is just posing as Buddhist material while really being some New Age stuff - Benjamin Creme seems again to be the source here, it refers to him - says Maitreya emerged in 1977 to inaugurate the world with the new age of synthesis and brotherhood --- "Dear Friends" seems to be in place of "Dear Ones" - same stuff about the spiritual masters, central sun, etc, etc... and funnily they talk of Shambhala, but misspell it --- Anyone have any more info on this Tara Press and Benjamin Creme?
Incidentally, have any of you guys come across the info about how the Golden Dawn created an antichrist was it in the nuculear explosion of hiroshima, apparantly this was used to bring the antichrist being into the world (their maitreya?) saw a really interesting little film on this.
