Anybody think that they plan to blow up Vancouver during the 2010 Olympics as a way of violently ushering in the era of the North American Union? A radical attack on the relatively defenseless Canadian people, loosely connected to their country's involvement in Afganistan, in conjunction with whatever economic crises are being cooked up at the time, would put tremendous pressure on the Canadian government to merge with the US to ensure the 'safety' of its citizens from 'terrorists' who hitherto strolled in and out of Canadian borders with impunity.
There's a lot of talk about shutting parts of the city down, of citizens being basically told to go elsewhere, and of massive increases in security. Even now there's American military planes flying overhead and doubled police patrols around what will be--next year for a measely 2 weeks--Olympic sites. Not to mention the efforts to control protests and free speech.
