I was musing today whilst gardening whatever happened to the uk punk spirit .All those great bands with a conscience .They sang about things that really mattered a lot of the time .I know they still exist but as a movement maybe it was doomed to go underground due to media reports etc and then lack of it .The whole youth /music culture thing has become diluted and corporatised , with what passes for punk music today as so much teen pop. rebellion sponsered by _______ fill in the blanks .After punk the next major musical form to arise was the rave scene, maybe a way of distracting the awaking youth by giving them so much hedonitic pleasure fueled by masses of ectasy let them all lov eeach other then they will be to busy dancing and shagging to care what we are doing .Someone somwhere invented the drug , im sure it wasnt just down to some altruistic hippy who just wanted to spread the love .Im no tknocking any music its all relvevant to those who enjoy it but where is the spirit gone the late 70's promised so much as a time of awakening people to what was going on around them in this level prior to the spiritual awakening that followed .Check out this lyric from the dead kennedys for california uberalles one of many excellent and thought provoking songs from the era

"California Uber Alles"

I am Governor Jerry Brown
My aura smiles
And never frowns
Soon I will be president...

Carter Power will soon go away
I will be Fuhrer one day
I will command all of you
Your kids will meditate in school
Your kids will meditate in school!

[Chorus:]
California Uber Alles
California Uber Alles
Uber Alles California
Uber Alles California

Zen fascists will control you
100% natural
You will jog for the master race
And always wear the happy face

Close your eyes, can't happen here
Big Bro' on white horse is near
The hippies won't come back you say
Mellow out or you will pay
Mellow out or you will pay!

[Chorus]

Now it is 1984
Knock-knock at your front door
It's the suede/denim secret police
They have come for your uncool niece

Come quietly to the camp
You'd look nice as a drawstring lamp
Don't you worry, it's only a shower
For your clothes here's a pretty flower.

DIE on organic poison gas
Serpent's egg's already hatched
You will croak, you little clown
When you mess with President Brown
When you mess with President Brown

[Chorus]
Considering the feam camps and the plans concerning the nwo it seems even more relevant now .:D
maybe we should now substitute prime minister brown in the uk

black flag
wendy o'williams, plasmatics
and the list goes on

it was fantastic in the 70's here, the local garage bands that played local, were saviours. there I was with my big kick arse purple mohawk, farout those were the days. We looked so wikard, but really, we were such sensitive, scared little wierd guys. yeah times have changed, there's new wave now, I like people who don't conform to mainstream music or whats in at the time. the music thats important is the music from the heart no matter what genre. oops well maybe country, don't like it. maybe rockabilly's ok, and dolly parton LOL

Given what we now know who can do an analysis of how the punk movement was an NWO ploy then?

Its possible the Elite know how to create or influence sub-cultural movements that appeals to people feeling out of place in conventionalised society.

Have you ever noticed that England is the country that created most of these subcultural movements? I wonder why?

But if the Elite did create these movements, how did they do it? How was it done and accomplished? How did anyone not notice??

Btw. The term 'Emo' is without a doubt created by record companies.

yes strange how england produces such movements , like you say the ptb are good at staying ahead of the game and if a movement arisesthat they didnt create then they are very goodat hijacking it and steering it in the direction they want it to go .Still its not what they desire thats important but what you get from it .If it wakes you up then its acheived its aim .The new goth emo scene while producing some ok bandsand music is pure industry driven .Especially in america where its usually a goth emo matrixwannabe who they programme to do their dirty work for them .One of my chemical romance correct me if im wrong please formed a solo project called pency prep that was the name of the high school from the novel cather in the rye the mind control book used to trigger such assinations as john lennon .Coincidence , deliberate choice of titile by the band ? i dont know maybe .Still its good to see the youth trying to break free even if they all do look the same whatever tribe they belong to maybe they will take it further than our generation did .Besides which the punk genre produced some good music and still does and initially gave people who would never have had a chance to get started independant labels etc and gave women a platform as well at the same time .You have got to think though of the potential the bands had when suddenly fame money openend them up to heavy drug use live fast die young may some up rebellion but they had the opportunity to do so much more . At least the seeds where planted but maybe johhny rotten meant so much more when he said "ever get the feeling you've been cheated .
Hey ngawaka19 kick arse purple mohawk lol

I don't know the answer either but it just occurred to me that maybe there is always some band somewhere, that if pushed correctly by the media can be turned into a mass movement. They did it with the flower power era and LSD. And Punk was pushed right from the first few concerts, meat hanging off string vets etc. I think it was in the Observer magazine almost straight away.
It attacks so much, of the time, I wouldn't know where to start, so I won't:)

I don't think that's true at all. There's all sorts of movements going on all over the world all the time that most of us never hear about. There's some great music scenes in Brazil at the moment that no one has heard about. In fact many of these music scenes originate from poverty either poor countries or poor parts of richer countries.

Surely the US beats the UK for musical movements. They've created hip hop, house, disco, techno, rock and roll, jazz, country, funk, blues, go go, miami bass, etc. And they arguably created punk from garage rock through The Stooges through to the New York Dolls, Richard Hell, etc.

I think people are too busy trying to credit the 'illuminati' with creating and controlling everything. The 'illuminati' may take our creations and turn them into bullshit (look at what they did to hip hop) but we're very creative and we're very good at turning bordem/anger/frustration/etc into great art.

what about crass ... crass taught me alot of things, about tolerance, and about the stuff they are up to that we dont know. sorry to sound so vague.

crass ragged on the sex pistols and the clash for selling out. and they did, but can you blame them, poor kids offered a shitload of money when they are young and having fun, whatever. sid vicious couldnt even play, was never plugged in, the sex pistols sucked ass, but really started alot of good things.

with the scene the way it is today, i can see it from two sides, all my friends laugh, and so do i, at all the new rock n rollers with their tight jeans and dudes that look just like their chicks, but at least these people are kind of trying to stand out, i hope. i mean, i was young and didnt know much and looked like an idiot when i first started to listen to punk and other alternative music, but i think i turned out better than all the sheeple out there listening to the radio and watching american idol.

i think all the scene needs now is some actual real political influence, a crass, a sex pistols, not the corporate garbage they are being fed.

there are a few bands out there today that are really trying to make a change; leftover crack and citizen fish(aka subhumans) put out a decent album a couple months ago, against all authority have some pretty good messages.

but me, i dunno, right now tim armstrong has been keeping me movin'. love the new sound of his solo, alot like life wont wait.... which subtly makes a few very good(and obvious) points about the new world order ...

So EMI were not the establishment.

There's unlimited supply
and there is no reason why
I tell you it was all a frame
they onl1y did it 'cos of fame -
Who? EMI

Too many people had the suss
Too many people support us
An unlimited amount
too many outlets in and out -
Who? EMI

And sir and friends are crucified
a day they wished that we had died
We are an addition
we are ruled by-none
Never ever never

And you thought that we were faking
that we were all just money making
you do not believe we're for real
or you would lose your cheap appeal?

Don't judge a book just by the cover
Unless you cover just another
And blind acceptance is a sign
of stupid fools who stand in line like EMI

Unlimited edition
with an unlimited supply
That was fhe only reason
we alt had to say goodbye

Unlimited supply
EMI there is no reason why
EMI I tell you if was all a frame
EMI they only did it 'cos of fame
EMI I do not need the pressure
EMI I can't stand the useless fools
EMI unlimited supply
EMI Hallo EMl goodbye A & M

Goodbye British establishment company number one and hello British establishment subsidiary number two. Or something like that. I know it does not rhyme but that's punk for you.

Why the establishment got something together that was anti-establishment is an exercise I'll leave the reader to do in their own time.

That is true many great movements come from all around the world and we dont hear of them because the ptb choose not to promote them , i think that was the point being made ,as in to what extent do they promote both sides . it makes sound economic and political sense to try and maintain your power base and prevent anything from opposing or overthrowing you , thereby opposames. It's not the reasoning behind the movement but what it gives you .Like you say the illuminati while having some control because people either choose to let them or are indifferent to them or just plain dont know or care about them , are being credited with too much .In magical terms saying the name of a magician gives them power and if they do derive energy from feeding of of this then we should be aware of what we think and say in that sense as well .

Just ignore the man behind the curtain http.us/im://img49.imageshackg49/2355/wizardofoz105gf4.jpg

http://img49.imageshack.us/img49/62/totoexposesozxh3.jpg

Anyway back to the subject as has been said on here many a time those where the days , back in the day i tried time and again to get some of my mates in bands to do a cover of the mary hopkin number those where the days ala punk style the lyric tune and theme fit perfectly but no one took me up on this suggestion .Nowall the ska punk bands do endless covers of such songs but i still havent heard a version of that yet anyone ? if not maybe someone out there would like to give it a go whadda ya think its a scorcher , would make a fine set closer or opener . :D

The Noble Chafer
http://xs318.xs.to/xs318/07322/noble-chafer-1599.jpg

Gnorimus nobilis occurs in old orchards, open woodlands, and pasture woodland. The larvae develop in rotting wood and wood mould from old standing trees, especially fruit trees (plum, apple, pear, damson and cherry), but also willow and oak (one record). The normal development period seems to be two years in fruit trees. Adults have been found during the daytime on flowerheads, especially of the larger umbellifers.

Current factors causing loss or decline

Loss of habitat, especially through the grubbing out of old orchards and replacement of ancient decaying fruit trees, leading to gaps in the age structure so that further generations of old trees with decaying centres are no longer available.

The word 'punk' was inflicted on this movement/ backlash to stadium rock, via the media, by Caroline Coon an NME or whatever writer. Punk is an American word for a type of prison gimp. Some of the bands were very intelligent and wrote great lyrics such as the DK's California Uber Alles , then there were the sid snot bands like GBH, Exploited who were fuckin rubbish going on about sex and violence and leather bristles studs and acne. Nice to see the Subhumans on the thread tho. Dick reminds me of a young Michael Foot lol.

some good links posted here cali new lyrics were good and spot on as was original .My mates played there last gig supporting uk subs in liverpool before moving to the isle of wight .When charlie harper asked why the band was splitting and was told they were moving there he said oh i play golf there , shhhh i didnt tell you that is it bad for the image ? dont know alice cooper plays and hes still rocking maybe they know more than we do and its not just a good walk ruined like oscar wilde said .Talking of the isle of wight i once saw glen matlock in a supermarket on the island , for a second i was 15 again and i thought oh my god a sex pistol in safeways (good song title lol) then i noticed he was wearing grey SHOES and it kinda spoilt it somehow .Still it's not about the uniform is it . :D

Does anyone have the feeling that, overall, punk is conservative; dare I say regressive? There are a lot of forward-thinking punks, don't get me wrong, but the prevailing mentality seems to be closed to anything new. For me, only listening to '77 punk would get boring fast. The world is far too interesting to simply give it the finger and call it a day.

not into punk really but check out linkin parks new album, the lyrics of this one song spoke to me, and will even speak to sheep...

linkin park- minutes to midnight- hands held high (track 3)

YouTube - Broadcast Yourself.

Turn my
mic up louder I got to say somethin.
Lightweights step it aside when we come in
Feel it in your chest, the syllables get pumpin
People on the street they panic and start running.
Words on loose leaf sheet complete coming.
I jump in my mind and summon the rhyme i'm dumping.
Healing the blind I promise to let the sun in
Sick of the dark ways we march to the drum and
Jump when they tell us that they wanna to see jumping.
F**k that, I wanna see some fist pumping.
risk something, take back what's yours
say something that you know they might attack you for
cause I'm sick of being treated like I have before
like it's stupid standing for what I'm standing for.
Like this war's really just a different brand of war.
Like it doesn't cater to rich and abandon poor.
Like they understand you in the back of the jet, when you
can't put gas in your tank, and these f**kers are
laughing their way to the bank, cashing the check
asking you to have compassion, AND have SOME respect
for a leader so nervous in an obvious way
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
and the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
in the living room laughing like "what did he say?"

Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen

In my living room watching, I am not laughing,
Cause when it gets tense I know what might happen
The world is cold, the bold men take action
have to react or get blown into fractions.
Ten years old, it's something to see,
another kid my age drug under a jeep,
taken and bound, and found later under a tree,
I wonder if he had thought the next one could be me.
[Hands Held High lyrics on http://www.metrolyrics.com]

Do you see, the soldiers, they're out today they
Brush the dust from bulletproof vests away.
It's ironic, at times like this you pray,
but a bomb blew the mosque up yesterday.
There's bombs on the buses, bikes, roads,
inside your market, your shops, your clothes,
My dad, He's got a lot of fear I know
but enough pride inside not to let that show.
My brother had a book he would hold with pride
A little red cover with a broken spine.
On the back, he hand wrote a quote inside:
"when the rich wage war, it's the poor who die"
And meanwhile, the leader just talks away
Stuttering and mumbling for nightly news to replay
and the rest of the world watching at the end of the day
both scared and angry like "what did he say?"

Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen, Amen.

With hands held high into a sky so blue
as the ocean opens up to swallow you.

Jello Biafra interview.

Black Randy said something in an issue of Search and Destroy—the greatest fanzine ever made—where he said, “1984 happened in 1930 and we’re just now finding out about it.” And this was in 1978. Everything from the Wall Street bailout to the torture of political prisoners to people in this country shrugging their shoulders when they may or may not be under surveillance all the time, it’s just part of an ongoing corporate coup. Only it has a nice smiling Mickey Mouse face instead of a swastika. As long as we can all be dumbed down into happy Wal-Martians, the robber barons can get away with stealing more and more of people’s money. This in itself puzzles me because a lot of those people already have so much money they have no idea what to do with it all. Long ago it just became this little game, so instead of crack addiction we have wealth addiction. The most damaging kind of addiction in the world. So what’s the point after you make your first million? You have all the money you’ll ever need in your life, but it’s like a drug “No I must have more more more, and if it means fucking other people over to get more it must mean I win the battle and I’m good at playing the game and I must keep playing the game and have more more more” and in some cases, they’ve totally lost grasp of what “more” actually means. So they take it out on the rest of us.
