Have you ever had a dream wherein you meet up with an old friend.. someone you haven't talked to or seen in a year or so, and then the following day you randomly, but some grand "coincidence" run into them?
This happened to me twice--two consecutive days in a row. Both dreams I had took place in the same setting, just involving two different people. I met them both the day after I had the dream of them.
Was it a mere coincidence that I saw them both after I dreamt about them?
Or is there some higher meaning to this? Some tie in with higher consciousness?
Any insight is welcome.
Also, this is my first post so be gentle. :D
I've been viewing this forum and it's various subtopics for a long time, but I haven't felt the need to post until now.

Yes, but it tends to occur mainly with people that i don't particularly like. Although it's not always necessarily an old friend that i've not seen in a while.

Welcome ainsof.
That's never happened to me but your avatar made me want to say hello. :)
P.S. You'll soon learn to hold your own against us crazy bastards, it seems scarier than it is from the outside looking in. ;)

Yes ive had it many times not just people but places too,but i dont remember the dream till i see them.
So its not like i can expect to bump into thingymijig.
It isnt dejavu as the setting can be experenced from a different view than the dream.

Weirdly enough it just happened recently although in a perhaps weird manner. I saw that an old friend sent me an email and also heard at what date it would come. later on I saw her approximately at that date (it was the name of a holiday from around here).

It happens with words too. You'll read a word you've never encountered before and then see it again very shortly after somewhere else.

I think its because you put a mental marker on it, Think its like when somebody says I see the number 11 every where I ago....surprise you end up noticing this two .....I think your brain takes so much in but we are not conscious of it all.

I think the bit about words is a different type of occurrence; one more along the lines of deca's explanation. It is cool experience tho and definitely one that helps us see the nature of our mind.
It's just hard for me to say my dreams were an coincidence. Eh though, was just curious what others thought. :p
Thank you to everyone who offered me a welcome. That's all I really wanted out of this thread. ;)
I think dreams are part of our body clock , personal organizer and general "house keeping" of our brains.
you might of picked up subconsciously info that you were likely to meet them or needed too
also most of us are creatures of habit as well.
so if you have a friend you not seen for a while and you normal meet or phone each other every couple of weeks and you don`t meet/phone them they might get in touch with you to make sure you ok.

@OP:
Yes, the same thing happened to me, but not as you described.
One time during the morning in my REM sleep (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rem_sleep) prior to waking up (the phase of sleep dreaming), I had an epiphany that I would find a lost item. Lo and behold, I found the item the next day (the odds of me finding that particular item = miniscule).
Another time, I was having a series of bad days. One morning, I woke up feeling unusually happy. I didn't know why I felt so happy until later on in that day, when I unexpectedly encountered someone, which made my day and brought joy to it.

I agree somewhat. Only thing is, these are people I hadn't talked to or seen at all in months--damn near a year. We didn't meet at any place specific; in fact I didn't even talk to one of them. I was at work and she just happened to walk by.
It just makes me think, does our inner mind and higher consciousness have a link to events such as these? Are they written somewhere?

Mrs Cockrane in Standard 4 use to tell us, when you hear a new word watch out, within the next 24 hours you'll hear that same word at least three times again. And she was right.
Odd, but it's true.

Higher consciousness doesn't have bounds in time. I see the future in my dreams quite often. All is connected, although one has to apply that somehow in 3D life as well.

I'm quite stoked to have found your post. I've tried to talk to people about this, or find people who have experienced this same thing, because when it happens to me it is quite epic.
It started happening to me around 2001. It usually comes in surges, and feels very significant. I'm trusting its validity more and more, and it's almost so strong now that I almost have a knowing when I have had such a dream, and can fully expect to encounter the person the following day. Usually there is a profound emotional exchange with the person in the dream.
I will recall pieces of the dream the entire day, and have a sense like my mind/body is harmonizing with that person's frequency, and then I see them. There's a strange mix of surprise and expectancy. That "vibe" stays there until I sleep next. Then it's like a clean slate after that.
I have also questioned the use for it. But as my own personal synchronistic experiences increase in their occurrence, I think it really is just a part of our perception/awareness growing into a higher state... Like a little kid learning how to read. Eventually we'll be more comfortable and be able to perceive more and more.
Hullo
Its a wonerful experience to have, for many reasons. I have once again started to write down my dreams, and on doing so this happens more often.
It gets more interesting when it is just random events, once the supernatural is viewed as natural and then simple something mundane this is higher consciousness.
I hope it keeps happening for you as well, because the more this happens to people the easier it is for the other to catch on.

I've never had a dream like that, but on many occasions I would think of an old friend that I haven't seen for a long while and i'd end up seeing them that day.
