I've seen it, it's not bad for a low budget movie.
I'm not usually one to fixate on religious/lucifarian theories, but this movie was definitely full of it. There were the little hints here and there as previously pointed out, but there was one big one, or at least I thought so. The aliens (or 'prawns' as they called them) themselves seemed like a big reference to the religious plague of locusts described in ancient texts.
SPOILER ALERT
At the end when the two aliens returned home to gather forces for a liberation of their species, it seemed like a very subtle hint as to what might happen next. If there's a second movie, they'll likely come back with an armada. I wouldn't be surprised if their numbers were so vast that they darken the sky like a locust swarm. I foresee a reversal of roles, and humans put into camps with them being the counter-oppressors.
September 4th it shows in UK

Here comes another by James Cameron, it looks like the evolution of CG has taken another step forward.

I want to see this movie too. Looks great.
To make the people believe aliens exist in reality, it probably would take an interview and an actual ship in their backyard...
Even then, some will remain skeptical. Or turn around and say 'Oh I believed all along, I was just joking' lol.

Just saw the advert for it on channel 4.. the last sentence at the end of the advert was quite ominous. It simply said: "there are a lot of secrets contained in district 9." Quite irrelevant thing to say?

I didn't particularly like District 9. Although, there is a lot of action, I found it boring.

I agree. I found the plot to be very lacking, and the story fragmented.
It never explained why they landed on Earth, and I wasn't too particularly fond of the ending.

My girlfriend, 2 mates and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It's just got a good balance of everything without going over board. There were times when we were laughing, times when there was so much tension in the air you could cut it with a knife and other times (like when he gets the mecha suit) when we were all shouting hell yeah!!!
I think they loosely explained that the aliens form colony behaviour like ants and that they feel that the aliens leader may have died. That explained the lethargy, apathy and general uselessness of the prawns. Its because they need someone to tell them what to do. What was also funny was that Christopher seemed to be the only prawn to display "humanity" It was like chris and tentacle hand man are each others yin and yang.
Prays for a sequel in which the roles are reversed.

That sounds like a pretty plausible plot, Mr. Indigo, do you watch a lot of films? Seems like you are pretty aware how they work!
I find most plots to be somewhat predictable, and I really appreciate a movie that can throw me off.

I saw it twice with two separate friends, both male and they both liked the heavy artillery and the giant suit scene. As I was looking at it from the standpoint of 1) what is NWO trying to say/prepare us for and 2) what was the nature of the alien ethic vs. the human ethic. I came away especially after the second viewing with a very disgusted view of the humans involved. Viker the protagonist was absolutely vicious and self-centered throughout, except for one short moment when he turned back to save Christopher. He was so typical of the person who acts so nice while being a monster just under the surface. The end was his just dessert. Did you catch the end where the whistleblower, young African man was jailed for telling the truth? I was struck by the fact that NOT ONE of the aliens had turned against their own, whether with the corporation placed to control them (what a great exposure to the real world, I could so see that happening) or with the Mob. The poor things were trapped and starving and could have easily wreaked havoc but they just didn't seem to have it in them. They never even defended themselves many times (The early news scenes of "destruction by the aliens" were typical propaganda in my opinion). I wished the film had taken another 1/2 hour to show more about the aliens, how they were managing and their community. As for the NWO part, the aliens were portrayed as so difficult to look at, and they were made to look as though they lived in filth by choice. I think the general view of folks seeing the film will be to not like or care for these aliens. I don't get that the aliens would come back with an armada; Christopher said himself that he couldn't leave his people here to be experimented on. My heart lifted when that pod locked into the spaceship and the spaceship took off! I think there will be no sequel. Yay and thanks to whoever showed the corporation and the defense folks as the heartless scum that people can be when they want power and money. The U.S. is doing this all over the world. See Confessions of an Economic Hit Man. Shame on us. love, angel
