Capitalism and consumerism have brought the world to the brink of economic and environmental collapse, the Prince of Wales has warned in a grandstand speech which set out his concerns for the future of the planet.

The heir to the throne told an audience of industrialists and environmentalists at St James's Palace last night that he had calculated that we have just 96 months left to save the world.

There's a couple of existing threads on this but it's the first time I've heard '96 months' mentioned.

I'm tipping there's some direct significance in '96' here, outside of all the usual boring (and generally pretty meaningless) numerological calculations that could be made.

Why say 96 months and not 8 years? I'd just reverse it to 69 and put it down to thinking of Camilla and a freudian slip :)

:D

Maybe measuring it in months has somethig to do with the importance of lunar cycles?

Also, '69' represents yin and yang, so maybe '96' being the reversal (with the digits facing away from one another) represents imbalance.

What a sanctimonious hypocrite he is ... this guy is worth millions. What has he done to help the environment?

What has he done to help the environment?

Apart from creating an army of earth-conscious, backpacking, hippy volunteers, not much.

So i suppose Prince William picking up his missus in an army chopper for a date is supposed to lead by example...i hear those things get excellent mileage http://ls1tech.com/forums/images/smilies2/rotflmao.gif

I think it would also be beneficial if Al Gore cut back on the hamburgers...maybe Charles could have a word to him... it takes a lot of energy and water to produce one burger.

This lends a lot to the belief that a major occurance is going to happen at the 2012 Olympics, exactly 96 months away from now. The queens diamond jubilee will also be around that time.....Very VERY interesting.

I'm not as versed in the numerological aspects, as you appear to be, but fairly sure the use of the months figure is significant. I'll definitely keep an eye on this thread, especially as a sense of humour is appreciated. ;)

Glad you spotted that :D I do think that the use of months and not years needs some discussion. I'm waiting to see if all the Charlie insults die down so focus can be on the words and not who said them. :(

I'm numerologically spastic myself, so feel free to jump in with anything you've got! :D

I agree with you though -- why say 96 months? It's a fucking weird thing to do and must mean something.

All these members heavily into numerology should be all over this as a priority trying to figure out why it's significant, but barely a peep...

...at least in the sane sections of the forum  :p

I don't know if anyone here on this thread so far has heard his talk, if so what parts of it do you disagree with? As I see it its a quite accurate description of how capitalism and greed have disrupted the nature of earth and its impact and consequences for our lives and our current disharmonious state with nature.

'That which sustains us must also be sustained'.

'We are not separate from nature, we are nature'.
