Well that's three events that G.B has had to deal with so far, surely all the sheeple can see what is going on by now.I told my mother only yesterday i wonder what 'they' are cooking up for us, again.

But i was refering to the weather,as it was getting windy outside and was thinking servere flooding, severe heat,in the world could servere winds be next.....!

But regarding foot and mouth it's yet more scare mongering by the media anything for a headline so they can plaster the t.v screen with breaking news graphics.

It has occurred to me that perhaps our Country is being manipulated by events such as these in an attempt to bring our economy to its knees to force us to join the Euro. Just a thought but from what I have been reading lately, it seems to be pointing in that direction.

Another thing is why all the hype??? This disease is not even life threatening, to cattle or human....I don't understand, especially when there are vaccinations available too!!! Is this just another scare mongering tactic??

Rumour doing the rounds last time:

Foot And Mouth Released In Agraterrorism Attack On UK?
By Patricia Doyle, PhD

Prologue

Why would a top secret lab, Porton Down, keep a benign virus, like simple FMD, in a biolevel 4 unit with SMALLPOX, EBOLA, ANTHRAX, and a very VIRULENT and, I suspect, ALTERED STRAIN OF TB? Why? FMD virus is usually kept in biolevel 3 unit.

So, why is this one, the one that had been stolen from this high security, top secret facility, so different that it must be kept in level 4 with bioweapon pathogens? Have they discovered HOW to make FMD jump the species barrier?

I am now 100% certain that:

1. FMD was released on purpose in the UK.

2. the FMD virus released in the UK was from the stolen vile from Porton Downs, and it is GENETICALLY ALTERED, weaponized, and probably highly unstable. Ergo, the mass culling of all animals.

3. MAFF Officials, as well as Porton Down scientists probably do not know how the stolen virus will react in the environment. I believe that this version of the FMD virus can probably travel a lot further then non- engineered versions. I also believe that this version may be able to jump the species barrier to man.

4. this strain can become a very lethal killer to humans.

****

Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus (FMDV) Why is the FMD outbreak in the UK different?

I have been saying that the Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak in the UK has some anomalies that make it different from the other Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreaks around the world.

We first learned about an outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease in the UK, February 20, 2001. The origin of Foot and Mouth Disease virus was traced to Bob Waugh's "Burnisde Farm" in Heddon-on-the-Wall, UK. Bob Waugh's "Burnside Farm" was confirmed by Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (MAFF)to be the origin of the Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak in the UK.

There were certain oddities pertaining to Mr. Waugh's farm. The Burnside Farm was filthy, with cramped animal pens, some of which contained dead animals scattered throughout the pen with live animals. In short, Bob Waugh's "Burnside Farm" was a perfect "ground zero" for an outbreak. December 19, 200, Bob Waugh's farm was visited by Animal Rights Activists, and also by Mr. Martin Coutts, who is a Press Officer for Hillside Animal Sanctuary in Norwich, UK.

When I spoke to Mr. Martin Coutts on the telephone last week, he informed me that he had visited Bob Waugh's farm in December because he, and his associates feared Foot-and-Mouth Disease might occur. The visit was two months prior to the Feb. 20, 2001 outbreak. I would concur that his fears were realized.

Three months prior to the Foot-and-Mouth Disease outbreak in the UK, the US held Foot-and-Mouth Disease simulations in Texas. I have been told by Paula McCann, a Producer for an overnight BBC radio show, called "Up All Night," that the UK had also held Foot-and-Mouth Disease Simulations just prior to the actual outbreak.

Foot-and-Mouth disease is a non-lethal virus in the family Picornavirus of the genus Aphaviridae. It is really only lethal to young and newborn animals. It carries less then a 5% death rate for those animals. It does result in loss of productivity for older animals who had contracted the virus. Animals who have had the virus do not maintain body weight, and females experience a major loss in milk.

There are also major problems for Countries with active Foot-and-Mouth Disease status. These Countries are unable to export livestock or livestock products. The disease is really a major economical blow to a Country that has endemic, and active Foot- and-Mouth Disease.

There are several vaccines available to prevent Foot-and-Mouth Disease, but, there is also a major downside to using these vaccines. Synthetic marker vaccines for FMD are still at the developmental stage. Vaccines can, occasionally, be contaminated with live virus, thus the vaccine can cause a FMD outbreak.

Vaccinated animals may be difficult to distinguish serologically from previously-infected animals thus eliminating serology as a method of identifying infected animals. In the case of an active outbreak, such as presently in the UK, attempts to "emergency vaccinate" animals, the vaccination teams can spread disease as they make rounds from farm to farm. Lastly, vaccinated animals may become infected, and show less severe signs of disease, despite shedding virus, thus prolonging an outbreak by allowing infected animals to escape ready visual detection. One other problem is that vaccinated animals will show FMD virus antibodies and thus, endanger a Country's FMD-free status.

There is also another anomaly about the UK outbreak. The UK is the ONLY Country that is doing mass culling of all animals, both healthy and ill.

Other Countries where FMD is endemic or has broken out, only cull sick animal herds. In some cases, only animals at risk, within 2 miles of the outbreak might be culled. The policy of the UK is to cull all animals, healthy as well as sick.

I have learned from my sources in the UK that MAFF had purchased much of the wood, prior to the outbreak, that is now being used for funeral pyres. How did MAFF officials KNOW that they would need the extra wood for funeral pyres caused by an outbreak of FMD, that had not occurred at the time the wood was purchased?

IF you watch the evening news over the past two months, then I am sure that you have seen tourists coming from the UK entering the US swiping their feet in disinfectant. Even luggage had to be disinfected. We have been told that Foot and Mouth Disease type O had been pandemic.

We see ONLY WITNESS-TOURISTS FROM THE UK being disinfected. India has had an outbreak of Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus that had merged with hemorrhagic septicemia, yet, we do not see Indian or Bangladesh tourists having to disinfect their shoes when entering the US. Why only tourists and visitors from the UK? Is there anything "different" about the strain of Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus in the UK?

Lastly, according to Monday's article in the UK Daily Mirror, a test tube of Foot and Mouth Disease virus had been stolen from the Porton Downs top secret labs in the UK. It was reported that the FMDV was kept in the same biolevel 4 unit as Smallpox, Ebola, Anthrax and a very virulent strain of TB. Foot-and-Mouth Disease Virus is normally kept in biolevel 3 unit.

* What is so different about the stolen FMD virus?

* Why did this vile of FMD virus have to be kept in level 4 unit with Smallpox, Ebola, Anthrax and Virulent TB?

* Was this FMD virus genetically altered?

* Has it been altered to merge easily with other viruses, such as hemorrhagic septicemia?

* Who took the vile and where is it?

* Is this the Foot-and-Mouth virus causing the UK outbreak?

* Is there any other pathogen missing from that same unit? Smallpox, Ebola, TB, or Anthrax?

* Why would someone only take a virus that is not even lethal to animals? Or is it?

Thank you, Patricia Doyle

It has occurred to me that perhaps our Country is being manipulated by events such as these in an attempt to bring our economy to its knees to force us to join the Euro.
It will also bankrupt thousands of farmers, the banks will seize the land and it will get turned into United Nations biosphere reservations. Added to the fact arable farmers are getting subsidised to grow biofuels (destroying the soil in the process), making grain prices go through the roof, it looks like the plan to reduce food supply is well on track. Suppose we can always eat laboratory created GM foods like Huxley mentioned.

I think you are probably saying GM is bad but GM is actually deadly. We can't eat it... its a one way ticket to serious mutation. They don't know what they are doing in this area. If things start going the GM route in earnest we are in serious serious trouble!

Yes, Cruise, before factory farms how often did foot-and-mouth break out? Then along comes animals with depleted immune systems, caused by the constant drugging and hormone therapy they get, to make them big and juicy. It's no wonder they get diseased.

Outbreaks like this are red letter days for the Elite because they can bring in movement restriction laws and also attack small businesses.

Looks as though the finger has been pointed to the Pharmecutical Company now that creates the animal vaccines, and we all know what they are all about!!!! Heaven forbid, we all become fit and healthy and don't need to go to the doctors so often, not to mention the 80% population decrease - as Tesco says - every little helps!!

I try and eat organic when I can afford to and we are even considering growing our own food in the back garden, eventually. I will not buy any Bernard Matthews or cheap eggs anyway and we don't eat very much meat either. The diabolical conditions these poor animals are kept in is just disgraceful - it should turn everyone vegeterian really. The trouble is, people have forgotten empathy towards one another and especially the animals, it is just about money and greed and power and to me that stinks!!

Although it's not been broadcast yet I can tell you that they've found a second animal, a sheep, at a slaughter house down the road that's also infected with the same pathogen.

Hopefully, because it's not a virulent pathogen, they'll soon get on top of this outbreak. If the winds stay mild & don't start changing direction..

As an aside the rumour mill is suggesting a vial of the pathogen was dropped which triggers a venting cycle in the closed lab & somehow some got vented into the atmosphere. That's a very bad day for somebody at the office!

The last major outbreak of foot in mouth was just before 9/11 .It amounted to a giant burnt offering of biblical proportions .A forerunner of the human deaths that followed maybe . In ancient times the sacrifices enabled men to draw near to God who dwelt in the tabernacle, and who spoke to Moses from within it (Lev. 1:1)? So are we about to see our very own GB do a GB on the scale of 9/11 with all the flase flag ops .I read that as apart of the global warming scam that scientist recommend we all become vegetarians within 20 years .While this is probably a good thing in terms of the land needed to grow crops as compared to the land needed to feed animals ,again like the no smoking ban it is taking choice away from the individual .If the y manage to shift the diet of the nation over to a vegetarian vegan one then go ahead and destroy the crops or the ability to grow new ones thanks to monsanto's efforts then they really do have far more control than we are prepapred to give them . :D

The plot thickens....

What is most interesting about this outbreak of FMD is that it comes hot on the heels of yet another appearance of the terrifying "bird flu", with 2 swans in France, a few ducks in Germany and 51 chickens in India all succumbing to the disease in recent weeks. Call me conspiratorial if you like, but I've been watching the modus operandi of the powers that be for too long now to take anything of this nature at face value, at least not before I subject it to the smell test. So let me share some finer details with you and you can then decide for yourself.

First, a quick look at Merial:

Merial is a world-leading animal health company. It is a joint venture between Merck & Co. and Sanofi-Aventis, founded in 1997. Merial produces pharmaceutical products and vaccines for livestock, pets and wildlife. Merial employs approximately 5,000 people and operates in more than 150 countries worldwide. Its 2005 sales were in excess of $1.9 billion.

Judy C Lewent (Judy Lewent, Executive Vice President of Merial) is responsible for worldwide financial, corporate development and licensing matters, as well as for strategic planning at Merck. Judy is also responsible for the Johnson & Johnson Merck Consumer Pharmaceuticals and Merial (Merck and Sanofi-Aventis) joint venture relationships and the Merck ongoing relationships with Astra and DuPont.

Judy is a member of the Board of Directors of Dell Inc., Motorola, the National Bureau of Economic Research, and a trustee of the Rockefeller Family Trust; a life member of the MIT Corporation; and a member of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.

Interesting company Ms Lewent keeps. It is also interesting that on July 31st 2007, just a few days before the outbreak of FMD that has been linked to Merial, Ms. Lewent off-loaded 50,000 shares in Merial. Then yesterday, one day before it was revealed that the strain of FMD had come from Merial's lab in Surry, she dumped a further 63,000 shares of common stock. Oh yes, and she is retiring next week. I assume that if Merial ends up on the wrong end of a multi-million dollar farmer's law suit in the coming weeks over the release of FMD in the UK, Merial's shares are going to plummet . So, can we say "insider trading"?

On the one hand it could be suggested that both Merial and the UK government have much to gain from another FMD epidemic across the UK and that they may well have conspired to deliberately release the disease. Merial would stand to receive large sums of money from the sale of millions of doses of the vaccine for FMD that it makes, and the UK government would be provided with another opportunity to run hundreds more small and medium-sized farms out of business and further centralise one of the most important food-producing industries in the UK.

Up until now, the vast majority of farmers in the UK were against the vaccination solution to FMD for a variety of reasons including:

It is difficult to correctly distinguish between the variations of the disease, (especially with government and big business tinkering incessantly with the strains) for example the strain discovered recently in Surrey is different from the form that swept across Britain six years ago

A vaccinated animal cannot be moved for a time because it can still be a carrier of the infection.

Each new generation of animal must be vaccinated

Many farmers, struggling to survive because of government agricultural policies, would be unable to afford the relevant vaccine, but most importantly of all, British beef and milk would have to be labeled as "vaccinated" which would make it more difficult to sell, at least abroad.

With this latest outbreak however, The National Farmers Union, fearful of having to watch another 6 million cattle go up in smoke, are saying that there is perhaps some merit in the vaccination idea, and Merial would of course be very happy about that.

As for the Gordon Brown government, it seems that they are doing everything in their power to help the virus spread far and wide. The owner of the land where the outbreak was first detected yesterday attacked the government for failing to shut footpaths in affected areas and criticised the decision to transport slaughtered infected cattle 80 miles for incineration as "absolutely stupid" and "madness" because it risked spreading the disease beyond the infected farm.

Sabotage is suspected over foot-and-mouth

From The Times , August 8, 2007
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/uk/article2218183.ece

The deliberate release of viral material, possibly in an act of sabotage, may have caused the foot-and-mouth disease outbreak, officials said last night.

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) said in a report ordered by the Prime Minister that “release by human movement [of the FMD virus] must be considered a real possibility”.

Inspectors all but discounted theories that the virus escaped by air or water from the laboratory complex close to where the outbreak started, although they are continuing to investigate the possibility of equipment failure or a security breach.

The HSE concluded in the report — which was sent to Hilary Benn, the Environment Secretary, last night — that there was “a strong probability” that the virus came from the research centre three miles from the first outbreak in a herd of cattle in Surrey.

Mr Benn said that sabotage could not be ruled out. “The truth is we do not know. That is why further investigations need to take place.”

The finding strengthens suspicions raised at the weekend when it was discovered that the strain of virus was one found only in laboratories. Investigators were unable, however, to decide whether the foot-and-mouth contamination escaped from the Institute of Animal Health, the government-funded body that first identified the virus, or Merial, a private company that shares the same site at Pirbright.

Further genetic analysis of the virus is being carried out to determine from which of the laboratory units the virus originated.

Any security breach could have been either deliberate or accidental and it was confirmed last night that government scientists have been inspecting allotments close to the first outbreak which are used by Pirbright workers to grow vegetables.

The report was released yesterday evening more than six hours after the 48-hour deadline requested by Mr Benn. The reasons for the delay were unclear, despite suggestions that “political and presentational” concerns were a factor.

Should investigators find that biosecurity systems or equipment at IAH were in any way to blame for the outbreak, ministers would face allegations that the failure was caused by years of underfunding.

If Merial is identified as the source of the disease outbreak the firm would face the potential of a multimillion-pound class action for damages by farmers whose businesses have been affected. Both Gordon Brown and Mr Benn appeared to point the finger of blame at Merial last night. They both suggested that further investigations would concentrate on equipment at Merial whereas the report that had been made public made no distinction between the company and IAH.

After the publication of the HSE’s report, the Prime Minister said: “The work goes on to isolate, contain, control and eradicate the disease.”

In their preliminary report on the outbreak, the HSE said there were “a number of biosecurity issues” that remained to be addressed at the complex. “There are various potential routes for accidental or deliberate transfer of material from the site,” they wrote. “Release by human movement must also be considered a real possibility. Further investigation . . . is being urgently pursued.”

They regarded as unlikely the chances of the virus being blown from one of the laboratory units and then being carried by wind to fields near the village of Normandy where they infected cattle on two farms.

Flooding from a failure of the effluent systems on the research site could not be discounted, but HSE inspectors said that they had been unable to find evidence of mechanical problems. The chance of water getting from Pirbright to the fields at Normandy was regarded as “negligible due to the distance”.

Geoffrey Podger, chief executive of the HSE, said: “The investigation to date has concentrated on biosecurity issues associated with FMDV strain 01BFS67 as this was the strain associated with the outbreak in farms in the Pirbright vicinity.”

The investigations concentrated on the actions of the IAH and Merial from July 14-25 as the dates identified by Defra when the escape must have taken place. Both research organisations used the viral strain during that time but whereas IAH employed it only in small scale experiments, Merial was involved in creating “large scale production” of 10,000 litres.

The HSE team of six investigators “found no evidence” of working practices, spills or leaks that could have led to a release of the virus.

Foot-and-mouth phial 'went missing'

Monday, 14 January, 2002
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/england/1760689.stm

http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/1755000/images/_1758124_footmouth300.jpg
Northumberland was badly affected by the outbreak

Reports that a phial containing the foot-and-mouth virus went missing from the Porton Down research laboratories have been raised at a public inquiry into the disease.
Northumberland County Council is hosting the five-day investigation into the spread of the virus and how rural communities were affected.

Professor Michael Dower, leading the inquiry, said he was still waiting to hear from the government regarding the matter.

He wrote to rural affairs minister Lord Whitty on January 8 with a list of questions which had arisen from information the inquiry had received locally.

Professor Dower asked: "What forewarning did the Ministry of Agriculture (Maff) have of a possible foot-and-mouth outbreak prior to the outbreak in February?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/1755000/images/_1758124_profmichaeldower150.jpg
Professor Michael Dower is chairing the inquiry

"Several of the written submissions the inquiry received refer to reports of a lost phial of foot-and-mouth virus from Porton Down," he said.

Professor Dower said there had been reports that the disease was present in the country before it was officially admitted.

There were also "reports that Maff officials were taking preparatory steps (eg making inquiries of timber merchants, taking part in simulation exercises, printing of `footpath closed' notices etc) before the outbreak of the disease was officially announced."

"Can you confirm or deny these reports or provide any further detail?"

Economy 'ravaged'

The chairman hoped to have a reply before the end of the week-long inquiry.

Farmers on Monday told the inquiry team how the disease had ravaged the local economy.

Iain Robson, a farmer and butcher from the Kirkwhelpington area, had farmed through two previous foot-and-mouth outbreaks in 1960-1 and 1967.

"The impact of this one has been far, far greater," he told the hearing.

Doug Watkin, a stockman and county councillor from the Norham area, saw his livestock culled in April.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/1755000/images/_1755705_sheep300.jpg
Three foot-and-mouth inquiries will take place

He said: "I lost a lifetime of work in a short time."
After he lost his animals, he said it was difficult to face other farmers.

Charles Scott, head of the Farm Business Survey Centre for Rural Economy, worked on producing a report for the regional development agency One NorthEast which has initially found that farmers whose animals were culled lost an average of £60,000 and received £80-£120,000 compensation.

But Mr Scott said farmers who had had culls had lost an average of £15,000 due to increased costs and movement restrictions.

Merck, Sanofi lab probed for foot-and-mouth

Merial vaccine lab owned by Merck, Sanofi investigated as part of English foot-and-mouth outbreak.

By Aaron Smith, CNNMoney.com staff writer
August 7 2007: 4:12 PM EDT

http://money.cnn.com/2007/08/06/news/companies/foot_and_mouth/index.htm

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- A vaccine laboratory in England that is being investigated for a potential link to a foot-and-mouth outbreak at a nearby farm is owned by vaccine manufacturers Merck and Sanofi-Aventis.

The lab, located in Surrey, southern England, is owned by Merial Animal Health, a pharmaceutical joint venture of Merck & Co., Inc, (up $0.34 to $51.69, Charts, Fortune 500) based in Whitehouse Station, N.J., and the Paris-based Sanofi-Aventis (up $0.24 to $41.86, Charts).

The Department for Environment Food and Rural Affairs, a British governmental agency, said the 38 cattle that were culled on a farm in Surrey were infected with a similar strain of foot-and-mouth disease used at Merial's vaccine-making lab in nearby Pirbright.

"The strain in a cow [at the farm] is similar to strains of virus that we work with in the production in the vaccines," said Steve Dickinson of Merial, which shut down production at the English lab this weekend.

U.K. outbreak prompts ban

Dickinson told CNNMoney.com on Monday that the lab had not vaccinated animals at the farm or anywhere else in England. He also said, "Our investigation found no breaches in biosecurity."

Merial, based in Duluth, Georgia, has 5,000 employees and more than $2 billion in annual sales.

The new Prime Minister Gordon Brown has vowed to take more aggressive measures in stamping out foot-and-mouth, following the massive outbreak in 2001, which lead to the culling of more than 3 million cattle and caused great pain to the nation's agricultural industry. The images of burning pyres of slaughtered livestock dotting the countryside weighed heavily on the English psyche, and were used to evoke a dystopian future in the Oscar-nominated film Children of Men.

Foot-and-mouth is a highly contagious viral disease affecting cloven-hooved animals including cows, pigs, sheep, goats and deer, causing blisters and lesions on the mouth, hooves and teats, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The United States has been free of the disease since nine outbreaks were quelled in 1929.

Investigators Probe Whether Government Lab Deliberately Released Virus
Foot and mouth outbreak another act of biological terrorism against British farming community?
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet
Wednesday, August 8, 2007

Investigators are seriously probing whether a British government lab and an American pharmaceutical company colluded to deliberately release the foot and mouth virus in an act of biological terrorism against the farming community.

The source of the recent foot and mouth outbreak is highly suspected to have originated from the government's Pirbright research facility, which is shared by American vaccine maker Merial Animal Health.

Russian news agency ITAR-TASS reported that the release of the virus came after an "international drill" last month that was held at Pirbright Laboratory, in which live virus was used. Real attacks are always shadowed by drills to provide culpable deniability.

"A PROBE into Britain's new foot and mouth disease outbreak has focused on whether staff at an animal vaccine firm may have spread the virus, possibly deliberately," reports the Herald Sun.

"A preliminary report into the outbreak said yesterday it was a "real possibility'' that human movement spread the disease to two nearby farms, with Merial coming increasingly under suspicion."

Legionnaire's Disease found at Pirbright lab Nico Hines and Lewis Smith
The Government laboratory linked to the foot-and-mouth outbreak was at the centre of a second bio-security storm today as it emerged that the deadly Legionnella bacterium has been found at the site.

Health agencies are investigating the Institute of Animal Health (IAH), on the Pirbright site in Surrey, after a contractor who worked on the site contracted Legionnaires' disease.

The worker has now recovered from the disease, which he developed on June 20 this year. But Health Protection Agency (HPA) investigators found samples of the Legionella bacterium that causes the disease at the facility.
