SELF RELIANCE IN A FRAGILE WORLD
- Do you hope for the best but prepare for the worst?
- Are you investing in your own security against the unknown?
- Do you believe in developing the knowledge, skills and stores to survive?
DOCUMENTARY RESEARCH
We are Kowalski, a production company making thought provoking programmes for UK and international broadcast. We are developing an idea for a documentary about people who believe in self reliance.
We are keen to speak to individuals and families in the UK who believe that a level of preparedness is increasingly important and have taken action. You might be working towards self sufficiency with permaculture in case of crop or energy failure or learning bushcraft and survival skills to improve your self reliance. You may have a store of food and water in case you are forced to remain in your home or a rehearsed emergency plan in the event of disaster.
This is an important subject, so if you believe in being prepared and have the time for a chat to help our research, we’d be delighted to hear from you.

I'll bet!
Anybody who is seriously preparing for TEOTWAWKI will not be discussing their preparations.
First rule of prepping = keep quiet about it. Tell nobody your name, address, what you have.
Why?
Because there are people known as predators, who make list of preppers and their resources,
with the express intention of raiding those resources when the SHTF!

Not to mention TPTB who read forums to find out who/what/where !

Thank you for your intrest.
The limelight is not for me however. Keep trying as you might find others that will. I would, as a maker of docus myself, be suspisious of those that answer your add. By definition a 'good' survialist or as you say a 'self reliance' type would keep themselves to themselves and if they did respond then they would be putting themselves at risk from others that did know them and could identify them, so I would recommend that you blank their faces for their own safety.
The problem that you face is that you would only have a watered down 'general' feel.
Unless you are only going for the mass audience of the mainstream, then you could find a couple of campers that would pass for extremists.
You are wasting your time here and on any sites that accualy do what you are after! You will only get a watered down type that was willing to show-off, sorry.
Nelly :)

Thanks very much for your message. As you say, it's a tricky one to crack due to the very nature of the subject matter. Still, I feel confident we can reach a middle ground with any contributors where it's possible to tell their story without revealing aspects they aren't comfortable with. Being a film-maker yourself, you surely know that nothing great ever came easy, so we continue. I'm gradually building my research on what is a fascinating subject, and we'll see where it leads. All the best. ;)

Thank you. I was having a think of just whom you could also contact. The answer (of course!!) popped into me bonce, why not contact those on the 'you-tube' type sites. It is, afterall, the place that we go to to learn from the 'best'.
These folk might just be what you are after. They also provide a reference point for the viewer after the programe has ended.

Hi Amy , as you know my forum user name is tracker .
I am interested in this idea of yours .
My reason for self reliance does not come down to often used media excuses of parranoia or being worried about things like NWO as some might put it .
My reason for preparing for self reliance can be seen in the Cambrdgshire flood of 2007 .
How many people blamed the government for their own muck up of having a lazy life and attitude ?
hundreds and hundreds all blamed the government because they suddenly found them selves with no means to survive confortably during the flood because they rather wanted to have large flat screen Tvs / latest Pcs and things like that , flash cars etc .
So instead of doing the right thing for them selves and their families if they had one , they lived a life that was nothing less than a fairy tail , believing that nothing ever bad happens in nature and found them selves with their back sides in the air waiting to be slapped , and nature did that .
They then blamed the government for their own carefless and addictive mind sets all because they couldnt be bothered to prepare for what life can give .
Lets face facts here , man kind has survived this long through out history heprepared him self , gained knowledge and was --------BOTHERED -----------to put simple actions into preperations for the worst .
Now ? If we keep rellying on a simple switch for electricity / gas /water , and have the numpty ignorance of a pig in a sweat shop , with out thinking beyond our own selfish desires , things sooner or later come crashing down around us , and thats what happened in Cambridgeshire .
a simple flood and what ? no ones got gas/electricityor water , but you can garrentee that I love my kids that much , that they will never find their dad and mother helplessly blaming the government for our down falls . after all , even though our preps will not stop things happening , it will ease the stress when it does , and our children will not suffer , because we are not lazy and understand that nature doesnt run on a switch .
one simple flood or harsh winter -and thats it , the shite hits the fan .
but not for me .
I have no simpathy for those who wish to spend all their time with their heads in the clouds , and I bet you one thing I cangarrentee , none of those who were cought in that flood , will have learned at all ! thats I can promise you !
why ?
because theycant be bothered !
yet they will still blame the government for their own mistakes yet again thats for sure .
people should wake up , and if they loved their kids , they would prep 1st , then relax and get big Tvs / etc .
anyway , hope this helps .
I have tried to email you but for some reason my PC does not connect to your email thingy lol .:)

amy aka amyeruse has been trying to get people
on various 'prepper' sites in the UK for a couple of years now.
I know that she had her membership terminated once the owners
realised what she was.
My advice is to stay away from her and the company she works for.
Journalists have a way of distorting what people say to make
more sensational reading.
IMHO this is what would happen once they got your details.
I refer you to my post above.

Ok lets say you are right , just for a wide range of view points to be concidered ----yes ?
Ok , lets say talking to someone about your preps are bad , shall we concider the fact that TPTB will now know --------through your post on this site /anythread on survival etc -------------that you have prepared your self , not in a small way that can be spoken about it , oh no ------your so prepped up ya wont talk about it .
Your history then ah ?
coz it seams as though you have a multi million pound underground base stacked up with 3 years worth of food and stuffs .
We aint talking about building underground bases and tunnells and large 3 year supplies of food stuffs etc ----------I mean ---what on earth are you thinking ?
We are talking about a few simple families that might have put 500 tea lite candles aside .
one packet of water purifying tabs
a gas cooker
a tent
Big brother isnt going to rade homes prepped liked this for a tea lite candle
or a packet of matches
let alone any stingy tent .
dont ya get it , this thread isnt for lottery millionaire ww3 preppers lol /pmsl/lmao .:D
I dont mean to be rude but really ----------we aint that important .
I refure you to my post above this one .
Aint nobody coming in my house for a candle / or a tent / or a packet of matches let alone one stingy packet of water tabs that must only be used as a last resort and not to be used when kids are concerned .
come on guys , its a person asking if folks are preparing for the worst , maybe a flood or a simple black out , maybe something bigger , she isnt interested in any or your multi million pound stash sites and or multi million dollar stash .lol/lmao/pmsl:D
Ok , for the record sake , its not good to run around the street telling every one you have 2 tents and bla bla bla bla bla blabla .:rolleyes:because yes one day some locals might just come a knocking , but really folks wake up ,
Ok dont tell folks everything , but to share the reasons why it is important to prep / such as the recent london floodings , is a way to help folks become more independant and less vunerable in harsh times , this helps get rid of fear , and we know who loves fear dont we ?
so please , dont be all cloak and dagger , I would be quite glad my self to show simple folks a basic kit that costs less than £100 that can be got over a long period of time to help parents ease the stress of any catastrophy that their family might face and I have no worries that the governments --------are that hard up --------that they are gonna come ramming my door down to have a packet of candles , or matches .
We aint some rich lottery winning under ground anti terminator malitia in the future !
level it up folks .
The more you post about what you aint gonna say or tell the more suspect you look .
dont shoot ya self in the foot here .

Just so we are clear on the facts - I have been working on this project since May 2009. I have been honest as to my intentions when posting on sites, asking permission where appropriate. I am not a print journalist, but a documentary researcher/producer and the ultimate aim is to make a film about people who are involved in prepping and self-reliance.

Well I think I have said enough .
some people have a few candles /matches and a wind up radio , maybe water tabs something that can be found in any camping kit really .
The real preppers are the governments and rich families
Maybe Amy , you might try asking them as they have more than poor folks like my self .
I hope I have helped you , but the simple guy like my self and others on here are really not the people you should be looking for ( just saying ) .
You best bet might be someone like Dodi Fiahd and his under ground basement , or people like that , after all , they have the means to prep real good .
Good luck on your search for those who prep , Im sure you will find one or two folks who have prepped properly and are lucky enough to outlive many of us who have no money .

yeah me too , but I am now declining from this as I dont think I can contribute any more than I have already done .
we can advise , give ideas but we really aint proper preppers really .
the real preppers are the rich , they have their stash , they are not silly .
folks like us might have enough to go by for 5 days to 7 days at a stretch and thats it and then thats all the camping equipment gone lol.
