2012 olympics all about promoting climate change

I was watching the cricket today and during the interval an advert came on showing a poignant clip of the olympics in the 1930s where people rallied together to make the olympics happen, and then went on to describe the 2012 Olympics as a time to rally together to combat 'climate change'. Help! This propaganda is getting serious. What was also apparent is that they seemed to be making the Great Depression of the 1930s parallel with the Great Depression of 2012, or that's how I analysed it:
