Here's something odd...
I have an electric underblanket on my bed and its always been plugged in although I only use it now and again. But the other day I saw something in the Mind Control thread that made me unplug it.
Both days since I've had really vivid dreams.

Hi Cruise, Chuck the electric blanket out mate. Apparently it's quite bad for the health to sleep on electrical currents. Use a hot water bottle instead :D or just heat up the bedroom before bed, and don't forget the bed socks....

Wow I hope I didnt damage myself. As a child my grandmother had electric blankets (in Ca.). and i had to have them on high every time I came back from Costa Rica, and she hated it but I was even thinking of taking or buying in Eire. I dont need it though with the duvee and bedmate but at one point I thought I might. Ive looked and cant find anything on this does anyone have a link on what they do or the dangers of such thing? Thank you. I will stick to hot water bottles, duvee and bedmate to ward of the cold that I have a problem with.

I've never liked electric blankets. I have constant arguements with my children about them and why they aren't allowed them. I've never really known why I don't like them. But thank you cruise for that info, i've always had ok instincts that have saved me more often than not. Give me a good old hotty any time, don't mind the 2 legged sort either.
Happy you've unplugged.

Elictric blankets are bad in many ways, they are a FIRE hazard for a start and like someone else said it's not healthy to sleep on electrical currents.
They are NOT designed to have on when you are asleep either, that is just asking to be burnt alive. You are supposed to turn them on just before you get into bed then unplug completely before getting in, what if you dropped a cup of water on your bed whilst it was on and you were in it? It's not worth thinkin about.
My parents would never use them and for a good reason, a house burnt down, on our road when i was a kid because of one.
We had a fire awarness company come to our office last month, even when a plug is switched off at the switch, if the plug is still in the wall, there is a very slim chance if there is a power surge that it can still cause a fire, so always unplug everything, including TV's, PC's and anything really. I have always been very aware of this and have always unplugged everything from the wall.

Some are designed to stay on when you are asleep. I've got one that has a low, on all the time (12p a day cost), a bit higher setting, and then the third proper warmup setting.
The cup of Tea thing isn't quite how you imagine it either.
