I just got the book, but here is the website:

http://www.curetoothdecay.com/

Tooth decay is very, very, very much related to diet!

People around the world used to have good strong teeth before the advance of processed food / sugar etc.

I hope this thread will help to give people information about to avoid the worst of the foods and how to enjoy the best of them...

Can you enjoy cod liver oil?

We'll see!

See also the Oil Pulling thread! Oil Pulling is great for teeth, gums etc.!

I was never allowed any sugar as a child apart from 20p on a Saturday for sweets. My mum and dad were right hippies and we never had anything with processed sugar in, no squash, commercial breakfast cereals or anything like that.

I am 32 and have no fillings, I don't drink fizzy drinks or have sugar in my tea or coffee, I don't eat sweets very often. Most people I know have had some sort of tooth decay, so I reckon this is true.

I tried oil pulling but it made me feel queasy.

No fillings! Lucky you! But this sounds definitely like a case of making your own luck. I've had, errrr, the odd filling.... :o and crown... :( Oh fuck.... :( I grew up eating sweets and assorted shit processed food (my parents weren't hippies) and it took me many years to improve my diet... Even now I'm a sugar addict.... But I still haven't given up hope....

Oil pulling is a bit disgusting at the beginning, but it's the toxins that make you gag, not the oil, so I'd say it's worth persevering with.

32, no fillings, beautiful, great sense of humour, intelligent, sensitive...

And you blush when you're complimented...

What a woman! :)

So many African friends who only came over here as adults had no problems with their teeth until they ate a Western diet (not to mention fluorosis).

Same here. My teeth were perfect until I started drinking :o I blame the cola mixers and sugary snacks the morning after a late night. I was twelve before I had a MuckDs and that'd because my aunt took me to town and 'treated' me. My mum went crazy. I didn't even like the muck, I thought it would taste like the real burgers my mum made. :)

And not just Africans, South Americans, Aborigines etc. etc., but even Scots living in the islands off Scotland had pefect teeth until the shops opened with the sugary crap and processed food.

Maybe I can find some photos. They had such a poor existence, but no sugar, no white bread, etc and lots of fish, oat cakes, cheese, healthy meat, fresh water etc.

Here you go!

The ones on the left are victims of the western diet. The ones on the right were still eating the traditional diet.

The two at the top were brothers. The one on the left was a lazy sod apparently (eating sugary crap). His hard working brother on the right was still eating oat cakes and fish! Even the skin suffers.

I grew up eating western shite, but I've improved my diet a fair bit in the past few years. The modern western diet is a crime against humanity!

my teeth are not what they should be, because of bad dentists as a child...

My teeth are terrrible, because my generation's parents were told to feed us 'ROSE-HIP SYRUP' , for vit-c I think. But it rotted all our teeth,so many fillings.

The western diet has a lot to answer for.

I think a lot of tooth decay is fundamentally caused by
A. lack of minerals
B. lack of nutrients used to supply minerals/decay of supply routes

Weston price says its vitamin D, because it is involved in the absorption and use of calcium and such, but what is the point of absorption without supply.

I think price and ramiel are both right, but I believe the key to completing the method is in two things.

1. More mineral consumption
2. Less mineral leeching (insoluble fiber and such things that absorb calcium permanently in our body)

Personally I am very active, so I supplement my diet with half litre of cream each day to reach the requirements of prices ideas, and I also add a teaspoon of that popular Himalayan crystal salt stuff you can but at those health food stores to whatever I have at tea time to make sure I get soluble minerals.

Optimally I would avoid mineral depleting foods as well but cake is delicious and there is no point in having nice teeth if you don't use them
