Good find

It looks like it could be a common purpose in the US.

That organization has been around for a long time. I don't hear much from them except for the occasional radio ad involving abuse, drug eduction, poor eduction, and poverty. Once in a while they sponsor events, small music festivals were the proceeds go to the above listed topics. Other than that, they usually aren't too much in the spotlight.

ahh right, probably a good charity then its just the way they word things on there website, the first thing u expect to read about on any charitys website is what they actually do, feed the poor, provide wells for aficans, help victims of abuse etc etc but most of what i read was just this marketing bs you get nowadays telling you how good they are without actually telling you what is there main purpose, objectives. and ofcourse the whole united way sounded familiar.

You're right many do put up the good guy facade. It's hard to trust any organization these days. The stuff I posted is above is just what I've personally experienced involving that particular organization. That doesn't mean they aren't involved in questionable things. They just don't blip on the radar much, which is admittedly odd.

There's 'Common Purpose International', for the world outside the UK.

They have been around a long time, I remember seeing TV commercials when I was a kid.... "Won't you help to support The United Way?".....

I'm sure if you dig deep enough you'll find some kind of corruption....

I give to the Humane Society and the ASPCA...after finding out in a lot of these charities how little of the money (sometimes pennies on the dollar) goes to actually feeding or helping people and I give clothes and such to the Salvation Army...best wishes:)

Good man. I think giving items that people can use rather than money is wiser. It makes it harder for corporations and organizations to profit from that, and get that 6'th sports car.

I have one peeve with the the way some of the locals here give to the salvation army. Some people use the drop off spots as a dumpster, not places to make charitable donations. Some of the stuff I see left there is appalling. It's fine to donate old clothes, but when people leave clothes covered in mold, vomit, urine, insect damage, it's just wrong.

we could do with a thread (list) of charities that are the better ones (less corrupt).
