I hear Vitamin Water is bad for you, but Im not sure why, and there are a lot of conflicting answers on the net. Knowing that we have a lot of people on the forum that are very health conscious, I thought Id ask for the down low on Vitamin Water here.

So... what is it? :)

I've been wondering the same thing. The ingredients seem okaaay, especially compared to other drinks like it....of course when you have synthetic vitamins to added to anything it isn't really the greatest, other than that I don't really see a problem with the drinks ??

I thought it was because of the sugar and of course the low calorie ones because of the artificial sweeteners.

The answer is 'maybe'.

Vitamins are of course good, but normally, you'd be consuming them as part of a fruit or vegetable, along with all the other vitamins minerals and enzymes it contained, which your body might need to make proper use of the vitamins.

Taking just the vitamins on their own probably makes them less effective, and maybe even harmful in a few cases.

I wouldn't worry about it too much, but you might want to consume these things with food.

Ive read on the net that the vitamins Vitamin Water contains are "water soluble" ones, which supposedly means they are already "destroyed". Also on the net, "crystalized fructose" is said to mean "high fructose corn syrup". Any truth to either of these claims?

if a company that is putting pure poison onto the market while marketing it as being HEALTHY (i.e. Cheerios by Nestle) is behind anything else they're marketing as being HEALTHY, I'd be very inclined to suspect there be treachery afoot!
Danone - they pitch that EXTRA-flouride water like it's the best thing since sliced-bread, fuck them

If it's same 'Vitamin water' I've heard of that's made by coca-cola then yes it's bad for you, as it's the same as drinking a normal soft drink like coca-cola or fanta. It's a con.

Im no expert but Im pretty sure most of the synthetic vitamins in there are petroleum by-products and highly cancerous.

I wouldn't drink it. Most of these products are made by the same conglomerates that sell many other unhealthy products and are only selling vitamin water as a gimmick to get a piece of the health food pie.

I'm with motley on this one ...you don't need vitamins in your water you need natural vitamins in your food ...your body knows exactly what to do with the pure vitamins it receives and these contained in this product are likely to be synthetic with added sugar or sweeteners ...it's a con
notice the primary colours to sell it to you and as it's adverts are plastered all over the London Tubes and Buses ...be sure, it's a con
