...to make calculations
I know that there are some sites that ask you to turn over your free computer resources while they're not active to make calculations for science projects and such,
I was wondering if anyone know's what site's do this? I was wondering if there might be a charity i can help by doing this as i leave my computer on a lot :P

I don't know, first I've heard of this. Try a search. :)
I don't get it. Calculations for science projects etc, don't they have their own computers to do this for them?

The basic idea is quite simple, some scientific groups want to do research and use computer programs to do huge calculations quickly, the thing is there might be so many of them or they might be such big ones that with their limited resources it would take their computers ages to do them, so they get volunteres to turn over their free processor time to the experiment, they may choose when their computer may be used and when it may not and hopefully, with you know, hundreds of volunteres or whatever the science gets realised quicker!
