A BLACKPOOL man found dead in his prison cell with his throat cut was being bullied by fellow inmates, an inquest was told.
Roy Bradley, 44, had written letters in the weeks before he died.
In one he pleaded for help and claimed he was "slowly dying a hideous death".
Mr Bradley, who had no previous convictions, was six months into serving an 18-month sentence for grievous bodily home in Preston Prison when was he died on August 16, 2006.
The jury at the inquest into his death was told Mr Bradley claimed he committed the assault because God told him to through voices in his head.
Hamish Howitt, owner of the Happy Scot bar in Blackpool, said he became concerned for the mental health of his friend after he had been jailed.
Mr Howitt, who said he raised his concerns to the Prison Service and visited Mr Bradley, said: "I felt his life was in danger.
"He gave the impression that he would never survive. I saw him as a poor, demented soul.
"He was being bullied, but he was frightened he would suffer repercussions if he grassed. They came in and took his cigarettes.
"He had thoughts of killing himself all the time."
But the inquest, at Shire Hall, Lancaster, also heard Mr Bradley, who was born in Canada, had told his defence team he would never commit suicide because he would not go to heaven if he took his own life.
Nicholas Hesketh, defence case worker, described his client as "the most agitated" man he had ever seen in his 20-year legal career and defined his behaviour as "unnaturally anxious".
He also said Mr Bradley rambled when he spoke.
Mr Hesketh added: "He was Canadian and unfamiliar with the justice system and unprepared for prison. He was potentially vulnerable. I identified that there was a potential mental health issue. I recall him talking about God frequently."
Letters from Mr Bradley were read out in court.
In one dated April 22, 2006, he wrote: "I'm slowly dying a hideous death in this place. I'm one of Blackpool's nicest men – help me to get out of this hell hole please."
But Philip Greenhalgh, acting senior prison officer who interviewed Mr Bradley when he first arrived at prison on February 21, 2006, said he appeared "a sensible, mature man" and did not think he had any self-harm issues.
A Home Office pathologist said Mr Bradley, formerly of Queen Street, Blackpool, died from a "catastrophic" three-inch long slash to his neck caused by a razor blade and said he believed no third party had been involved.
The cause of death was given as a haemorrhage and cut throat.
Mr Bradley had admitted abusing alcohol and smoking cannabis prior to going into prison.
The inquest continues and is expected to last two weeks.

Here's some more info about bullying causing psychosis.
Bullying victims have more psychotic symptoms
Tue May 5, 2009 1:20am BST
NEW YORK (Reuters Health) - Being bullied in childhood doubles a young person's likelihood of having psychotic symptoms in early adolescence, UK researchers report.
In fact, with longer-lasting and more severe bullying comes greater risk, Dr. Andrea Schreier of Warwick Medical School in Coventry, England and her colleagues found.
"Chronic or severe peer victimization has non-trivial, adverse, long-term consequences," they write in the Archives of General Psychiatry. "Reduction of peer victimization and the resulting stress caused to victims could be a worthwhile target for prevention and early intervention efforts for common mental health problems and psychosis."
Both kids and adults "commonly" have psychosis-like symptoms or experiences, without full-blown mental illness, Schreier and her team explain. Young children who have these symptoms are more likely to develop schizophrenia and similar types of mental illness as young adults, the researchers add, while trauma in childhood also has been tied to adult psychosis risk.

Associations between childhood trauma, bullying and psychotic symptoms among a school-based adolescent sample
Background
Children and adolescents who report psychotic symptoms appear to be at increased risk for psychotic disorders in adulthood – a putative `symptomatic' high-risk group. However, little research has investigated whether those in this high-risk population have increased rates of exposure to traumatic events in childhood, as seen in patients who have a psychotic illness.
Aims
To examine whether adolescents with psychotic symptoms have an increased rate of traumatic experiences.
Method
Psychiatric interviews were carried out with 211 adolescents aged between 12 and 15 years and their parents as part of a population-based study. The interview enquired about a number of early traumatic events including physical and sexual abuse, exposure to domestic violence and bullying.
Results
Fourteen adolescents (6.6% of those interviewed) reported experiencing at least one psychotic symptom. Adolescents who reported psychotic symptoms were significantly more likely to have been physically abused in childhood, to have been exposed to domestic violence and to be identified as a bully/victim (that is, both a perpetrator and victim of bullying) than those who did not report such symptoms. These findings were not confounded by comorbid psychiatric illness or family history of psychiatric history.
Conclusions
Our findings suggest that childhood trauma may increase the risk of psychotic experiences. The characteristics of bully/victims deserve further study.

Risk factors and outcome in psychosis
The population prevalence of intellectual disability (also known as learning disability in UK health services) is approximately 1%, rather similar to the estimate of lifetime population risk for schizophrenia. The risk of psychiatric illness, particularly schizophrenia, is thought to be increased in people with intellectual disability. Morgan et al (pp. 364–372) linked two large population-based case registers in Australia to examine the overlap between intellectual disability and psychiatric illness. They found that a third of those with intellectual disability had psychiatric illness; the prevalence of schizophrenia was three times higher than the population estimates, with lower or equivalent rates of bipolar disorder and depression. The authors suggest that this overlap may reflect a common aetiology, acknowledging that other studies have shown that lower intellectual performance in adolescence is a risk factor for the later development of schizophrenia. Kelleher et al (pp. 378–382) examined an adolescent sample for the presence of psychotic symptoms, another putative risk factor for the development of subsequent psychotic illness. Six per cent of their sample reported experiencing at least one positive psychotic symptom, and these individuals were more likely to report having been abused during childhood and identified as both a bully and a victim of bullying. Kelleher et al propose that traumatic childhood events may contribute to the development of psychotic symptoms and eventual psychotic illness. Another acknowledged risk factor for psychotic illness is the use of cannabis in adolescence; however, whether it has an impact on the outcome of established psychotic illness is unclear, despite a widespread clinical belief that it contributes to a detrimental outcome. Zammit and colleagues (pp. 357–363) examined this question through a systematic review of the effects of cannabis on outcome in psychosis. They found that cannabis use was associated with increased relapse and decreased treatment adherence. However, links with increases in psychotic symptoms were more varied and their somewhat surprising conclusion was that there is insufficient evidence of cannabis use having a detrimental effect on outcomes in psychotic illness.

The Voice of God Weapon Returns

Characters3 The Voice of God weapon — a device that projects voices into your head to make you think God is speaking to you — is the military’s equivalent of an urban myth. Meaning, it’s mentioned periodically at defense workshops (ironically, I first heard about it at the same defense conference where I first met Noah), and typically someone whispers about it actually being used. Now Steven Corman, writing at the COMOPS journal, describes his own encounter with this urban myth:
At a government workshop some time ago I head someone describe a new tool that was described as the “voice of Allah.” This was said to be a device that would operate at a distance and would deliver a message that only a single person could hear. The story was that it was tested in a conflict situation in Iraq and pointed at one insurgent in a group, who whipped around looking in all directions, and began a heated conversation with his compatriots, who did not hear the message. At the time I greeted this story with some skepticism.
Is there any basis to this technology? Well, Holosonic Research Labs and American Technology Corporation both have versions of directed sound, which can allow a single person to hear a message that others around don’t hear. DARPA appears to be working on its own sonic projector. Intriguingly, Strategy Page reports that troops are using the Long Range Acoustic Device as a modified Voice of God weapon:
It appears that some of the troops in Iraq are using "spoken" (as opposed to "screeching") LRAD to mess with enemy fighters. Islamic terrorists tend to be superstitious and, of course, very religious. LRAD can put the "word of God" into their heads. If God, in the form of a voice that only you can hear, tells you to surrender, or run away, what are you gonna do?
And as Corman also notes, CNET recently wrote about an advertisement in New York for A&E’s TV show Paranormal State, which uses some of this technology. Beyond directed sound, it’s long been known that microwaves at certain frequencies can produce an auditory effect that sounds like it’s coming from within someone’s head (and there’s the nagging question of classified microwave work at Brooks Air Force Base, that the Air Force stubbornly refuses to talk about).
That brings us back to the Voice of God/Allah Weapon. Is it real or bogus? In one version — related to me by another defense reporter — it’s not just Allah’s voice — but an entire holographic image projected above (um, who decides what Allah looks like?).
Does it exist? I’m not sure, but it’s funny that when you hear it brought up at defense conferences, no one ever asks the obvious question: does anybody think this thing will actually convince people God is speaking to them? I’m thinking, not.

I'm glad you added that 2nd post Deca, because my first thought on reading the OP was, how come his friend was only said to be concerned about his state of mind once he'd been imprisoned? The fact that he'd apparently committed GBH because the voice of God in his head told him to do it, should surely have raised questions about his mental health.
And I wonder how many people with diagnosed mental health issues, might really just be the victims of guineapig type experimentation with mind-control technology.
It's a very sad situation.
I assaulted somebody because of this stupid shit....I was lukie not to get a prison sentence just on a section under mental health. I don`t have a violent history or any previous and people made statements saying I was acting out of character.

Er I think you are missing the point did he fear being bullied???? no what did he say "slowly dying a hideous death".
A lot of mind control & electronic harassment victims would say this or call it the silent holocaust
This man does not seem to be disabled or mentally ill apart form hearing voices and being extremely "unnaturally anxious", Also he was 44 years old surly anytype of schizophrenia or other so called mental illness would of shown up well before hand. Also were does it say he was bullied as a kid???? or his friend mentioned it? no only time his friend mentioned being bullied after he been in prison!!!!
also why was he so "the most agitated" man he had ever seen in his 20-year legal career and defined his behaviour as "unnaturally anxious".
was he getting bullied before going to court and prison ?????
I think people can understand being bullied and pick on in prison especially if people think you soft or weak clearly the prison had some mental problems and would of be seen as an easy target.
but what got him to prison in the first place committed the assault because God told him to through voices in his head.
clearly hearing these voices was at the route of this mans troubles not from of bulling later in prison he was already "agitated" and "unnaturally anxious" before even going

A BLACKPOOL convict attacked two people because he thought they were part of terrorist group Al-Qaeda, an inquest heard.
Roy Bradley, 44, thought the people he attacked were part of Al Qaeda and God had told him to commit the offence, which took place on Valentine's Day 2006.
He was jailed after he was convicted of grievous bodily harm following a knife attack on Church Street, Blackpool and a second incident on Topping Street.
On August 16, 2006, he was found with a three inch long cut to his throat in Preston Prison – where he was serving an 18-month sentence.
The jury at an inquest in Lancaster was told Mr Bradley showed no signs of mental illness to a forensic psychiatrist prior to being jailed.
Jurors had previously been told Mr Bradley, formerly of Queen Street, Blackpool, was being bullied by inmates and had admitted to hearing voices in his head.
His defence case worker, Nicholas Hesketh, asked a forensic psychiatrist to interview Mr Bradley after becoming concerned by his behaviour, which he described as the most agitated he had seen in his 20 year-long career.
But Dr Carl Wilson said he found no sign of mental illness when he met Mr Bradley in May 2006.
He said: "When I saw Roy Bradley in prison he was mildly anxious, he wasn't excessively anxious. His mental state was not abnormal. There was no evidence of a mental disorder."
But Hamish Howitt, Mr Bradley's friend and former landlord, suggested to the court he had suffered a mental breakdown prior to committing the offence for which he was imprisoned.
Mr Howitt, owner of the Happy Scot bar in Blackpool, said: "Something untoward happened that night. How can you explain why he strikes out because he thinks people are part of Al Qaeda?"
The jury were told Mr Bradley, who moved to Blackpool from Canada in 2002, started smoking cannabis when he was 16. He also smoked the strong weed skunk and admitted he often felt paranoid and frightened after using the substances.
Dr Wilson added: "In terms of the offence, my understanding is that he had been drinking heavily and he had been using cannabis for a long time.
"He told me that in the past he had become paranoid on smoking cannabis. He was suspicious and frightened."
But he added: "On that day I saw Roy Bradley (in prison] there was no evidence whatever of any mental disorder or psychotic illness."
Mr Bradley died from "a catastrophic" three inch long slash to his neck caused by a razor blade. A Home Office pathologist said he believed no third party had been involved and gave he cause of death as a haemorrhage and cut throat.

Years ago a man attacked another man behind the counter of a take away, in the local papers it said he was convinced the man he attacked was Bin Laden.
It opens a whole can of other worms. Psychics may think they're tuning into spirits when it's electronic man made voices/visions.
Then if this happens to you, you'll wonder if you're schizophrenic, psychic, drugged, or under electronic/microwave etc attacks? Even the best of psychics/spiritualists may well be fooled.
People try open up psychically and hear their inner voice/intuition or gain guidance/advice, but are in danger of being messed with and fooled by man made technologies.
Not sure how much of if this quote is genuine
Quote:
The most 'secret name' of Royal Arch Freemasonry was:
JAHBULON
This manufactured name was a mixture of the different gods that they worshipped. The unholy trinity and worship of Satan. They had used Jewish/Arabic mysticism to research mind control.
See Egyptian Book of the Dead - also the Lesser Key of Solomon, although this book is a fake in terms of 'magic'. It was produced solely as a mind control manual and not for any other purpose i.e. the symbols are used to call up different 'alters' of mind control slaves.
They also experimented with 'time travel' i.e. the disembodied mind can be released from the constraints of time and space, under certain terrible conditions, to produce remote viewers.
What is the new 'password' of Royal Arch Freemasonry?
ALRAHYAH
Why have they changed it?
The first one got outed on the net years ago. It had been used to mainly recruit and train Judaeo-Christian mind control slaves.
The second one is specifically tailored to recruit and train Muslim mind control slaves. Therefore, appropriately enough, it begins with 'AL'.
One man I know told me the best way to survive prison was to pretend you were the craziest SOB in the entire place. If that meant walking around, talking to the walls, doors, petting an imaginary dog, then he did it. Once the other inmates got a good look at him, they left him alone. I guess they thought he way off. Sometimes you do what you have to do to survive, but if this man was already mentally ill, didn't somebody on the outside see anything?
But no, it says he started wigging out while he was in prison. It's sad. Someone like that needs help and nobody sees it until it's too late.
My other thought is if he was hearing the voices, then that could be construed as a form of mental illness, but it really didn't seem to show up until this attack where he heard the voices in his head from God . HMMM, Could be some form of subliminal mind control programming. There had to be a trigger of some kind.
another crazy story from around here

A MOTHER-of-three who
came to the aid of a woman covered in blood close to a St Annes primary school has relived the traumatic
experience.
The injured woman, who is in her 50s, was taken into St Thomas' CofE Primary by Lynn Henderson, who saw her stumbling outside the school
on Wednesday motning.
Mrs Henderson was driving home after dropping off her children at St Annes Grammar School when she saw the distressed woman crossing St
Thomas' Road, just before 9am.
The woman, who is a cleaner at the nursery on the school grounds, is said to have cut herself about her body and slashed her own throat at home before walking to school.
It is also claimed the woman said there was a bomb inside the nursery, which was closed by its owners following the claims.
Speaking from her home on Cypress Point, St Annes, Mrs Henderson, 42, said: "She had cut herself and there was blood everywhere.
"I just stopped my car and went to see if she was OK. When I got to her it was clear she was in a lot of distress.
"She just kept saying she had to go into work at the school, so I led her up the driveway and sat on the steps with her, comforting her.
"It was such a shock to see her like this. I can't stop thinking about her and the distress she must have been in.
"There was blood all over her, it was like a scene from a horror film."
Paramedics treated the woman at the school before taking her to Blackpool Victoria Hospital, where she underwent emergency surgery.
She has since been transferred to a ward and will undergo a mental health assessment once she has recovered from her injuries.
In a statement, the headteacher of St Thomas', Stephen Maughan, said some children were arriving for lessons when the drama unfolded.
The school remained open after the events, as Mr Maughan did not want to distract the children and staff, who also attended to the woman.
Mrs Henderson added: "I just couldn't leave her the way she was.
"A few people came out of the school when they saw her and were asking her what she had done to herself.
"It was such a traumatic experience. I just hope she is OK."
A spokesman for Lancashire Police said: "The matter is no longer being treated as a criminal investigation.
"The (injured) woman will undergo a mental health assessment."

A BRITISH businessman suspected of murdering his millionaire girlfriend, Blackpool tycoon Kinga Legg, remains unfit to face court, a court heard today.
A European arrest warrant was issued for Ian Griffin, 40, after the body of Ms Legg was found in a Paris hotel.
A hearing at City of Westminster magistrates' court, London, heard he remains in a prison hospital bed.
Ben Watson, for the French judicial authorities, said a psychiatrist would visit him on Monday and prepare a report.
He said: "Griffin did not attend court on June 10 as the Prison Service declared him unfit to travel to court.
"Since that occasion there has been no significant improvement to his condition and he remains on the hospital wing at HMP Wandsworth."
Colin Nott, for Griffin, said his client had a "history" of mental health issues. He said he would be opposing extradition.
Speaking about the psychiatrist, he said: "There is a history and he may have further investigations to make relating to that.
"I have spoken to him in some detail and he is confident he will have a report prepared in seven days.
"He is seeing him on Monday and appreciates the urgency."
District Judge Daphne Wickham remanded Griffin in custody and adjourned the case to 10am on July 10 at the same court.
Pole Ms Legg, 36, who was married to Blackpool Council's head of enterprise and employment a decade ago, died from internal bleeding in the bathroom of the couple's suite at the Hotel Le Bristol in Paris.
French police said her battered and bruised body was discovered by a maid. Griffin was arrested a week later in Cheshire.
Griffin refused to agree to being returned to France at a hearing earlier this month.
The businessman, who grew up in Warrington, Cheshire, ran tanning salons and gadget shops across north west England.
But he has suffered financial difficulties and was declared bankrupt three years ago.

The weaker you are the more fun they have with you once a person show their weakness it turn into a game of fun for others. Some people escape by becoming violent and have self injurious behaviors. But I believe it is a cycle alot of people love victims it make them look good, feel important any form of harrassment is sadistic to me because they get satisfaction from watching another person live a tormented life to enlist others is sick and to join in is even sicker.
He was crying out for help and noone listen he could not handle it and lost it. The people that bullied him don't feel sorry for him they will laugh at him for years bullies have no sympathy, but they can show a fake concern and compassion and it can come across as being real concern. But behind it is pure hell and devilish.
