Yeasterday was my first day in over a year with no booze....and I'm not talkin a glass or two of wine at dinner. I started on this little binge when my wife and I separated but the last few months the overall health and immune systems started goin down noticeably. I just finished a book called the Easyway to Stop Drinking that really changed my attitudes about alcohol and drinking. Although I didn't stop the way the book says I started a cleanse yesterday and realized of course that 12 cans or more of cheap malt liquor would sort of defeat the purpose. The good thing was I had very little anxiety and no regrets...... was very easy and pleasant whereas before this book just thinking about quitting made me crave a drink even more/.

Just about thru my second day...... more about this cleanse in another thread....

Hey mang, you need to help out your liver. Go to the healthfood store and get some raw kim-chi and kombucha or order a kombucha mushroom online and brew your own.
You also should go cooked carb free for atleast a month or two. After being an alcoholic for that long you surely have a fungal infection that will simply turn carbs into alcohol. Drinking soda would be just like drinking a pint

:) Great news, you should be very pleased with yourself

Why not reward yourself with a treat that isn't booze related.

This is all good, but I would suggest that if you are want to lick this for good that you contact the local AA in your area. The first 30 days in sobriety can be very trying ( and tempting) and the folks in AA can give you lots of emotional support during this time, not to mention new friends who do not drink. As for the program, they always say in the rooms, "take what you need and leave the rest" and "the only requirement for AA membership is a desire to stop drinking".

Also if you can afford it, I would also suggest that you find a Reiki or Theta DNA practitioner to help you clean up your auric field. Alcohol abuse create holes in the auric field which then can allow very negative energies come come in.

Kudos :) Seems like a wise choice. I usually dont drink. I actually dont like it much, but I drink a bit on social occasions. Home at my parents or with my friends. I just dont like having a day or two feeling like doing nothing. Usually I dont really feel ill, but I do feel weak and tired.

One night in the city and usually I dont get home untill 3-6 in the morning, then sleep till 10 or 11 since I just cant sleep after drinking. And the next day usually wasted on just trying to watch movies and concentrate on something none to important.

The day after I might even still feel weak. Usually being out in town the fun is the first 3 hours, which makes it 3 hours of fun, then 6 hours of just being there and maybe more than 24 hours of getting back to having a clear head.

I dont really find those 3 hours of fun worth it. I even think it would be more likely 6-8 hours of fun without the alcohol.

Well I woulda been in a hospital or coffin before the year was out so I am very pleased. I was having lots of symptoms that were not good. Feel 75% better after 3 days. Now to work on those nasty tramadols. With this cleanse I have already been able to cut those back by about 40%. Been meaning to see how yer doin bullet....any probs stopping the pain stuff? Not much I hope. To me withdrawals from Tramadol are worse than opiates.

If you've really been drinking alcohol every day for a long time than your nervous system and hormones are probably in the tank. You will start feeling better every day that you go without. After a week or so though you aren't going to feel reward mechanisms for staying sober, and the nervous system and hormonal damage that I mentioned will need to be dealt with.

Drink lots of water, eat plenty of good food, avoid eating too many salty things because they will make you crave drinks. Drink juice and other drinks with substitute for the sugars you would otherwise be getting from alcohol (tons of sugar there). And if you start exercising your testosterone levels (which I guarantee alcohol has massacred) will shoot back to level. It'll be hard to put into words how much better you'll feel once you're really into this recovery.

Congrats.

Well done onourwayto2012!!!:)

I had a Tramadol tablet once and i was off the planet for hours...it was horrid...i was pain free but Jesus i hated it- it was awful...couldnt wait for te effects to wear off......sometimes i wonder how we develop addictions to things that initially make us feel like shit...like smoking for example... you cough your lungs up -then get hooked LOL!!

Im really pleased for you- addictions are terrible to kick...if you have the willpower you have my ultimate respect! :)

Ive never suffered a drink problem...its hard to comprehend since alcohol makes me feel like death but i have my own addictions to overcome in life...

my father's an alcoholic and watching him destroy his life is heartbreaking... the addiction means more to him than anything or anyone including me..his only daughter, his self respect has gone out the window along with his dignity, hygiene, health etc etc... i wouldnt wish anyone to go down the same road... not even my worst enemy...im glad you've grasped a hold of things before they got too bad to turn around... my Dad will be dead soon and there's nothing i can do about it because the alcohol has such a strong hold over him...it'll never release its grasp on him..only he can do it- but he wont!
