I really hope they don't end up sending him over. There really is no need and the charges against him are trumped to say the least. I doubt very much the Americans would allow one of their citizens to be extradited to face trail in a foreign country.

It's disgusting. He should be tried here and up to 70 years.....for what....it isn't like he has committed mass murder. Aspergers can make people do repetitive things with a burning obsessive compulsion and his relentless hacks are a symptom of that. Considering what he did by leaving messages warning that security is lax he was doing them a favour though I personally think he probably accessed honeytrap computers, still his intent was to warn and snoop for UFO info and not to damage.

No ... they just send any country's people (including their own) to other countries that allow torture.

Somehow, this makes it OK.

In my opinion NASA works for the people of the world not the other way around. You shouldnt need to hack into their shitty system it should be openly available. Makes me angry =/.

Hacking into government databases seems to be the worst crime someone can commit these days. The harsh penalty being suggested for McKinnon is to act as a deterrent to other hackers.

I hope he gets off of all the charges and is free. They've spent 3 + years picking his brain for everything useful; he'll either get a gov't job out of it or be punished for his insubordination.

Labour MPs were accused of hypocrisy last night after abandoning Gary McKinnon in his fight against extradition to the U.S.
Dozens had previously given written pledges of their support to the Asperger's Syndrome sufferer.
But only eight stuck to their guns and joined the Tories and Liberal Democrats in voting against the Government

I agree they made this guy out to be the bad guy due to the 9/11 attacks that he had nothing to do with but even the amount of damage they claim he did was erroneous.

Nasa should be public but not with this government system of control..

Good thing is that the politiicans are trying to get him to stay in this country, in their own bid to gain popularity :D
Hopefully he will stay, he is a good man

Says it all about NuLabour that they would rather extradite him rather than upset their yank friends.

he should be punished but he committed the crime here, not there.

I really dont see how those massive damage costs have arisen either, deleting files apparently.

mp's have proved yet again what finks they are.

Hide him, before they wag him off.

No he should not be punished, he did nothing wrong.

If anything the Yanks should thank him for highlighting the appalling flaws in the security of their web sites.

meh its not just that, they want to make an example of him, and all of the stuff he discovered as well can be easily covered up
sending him to a federal prison for the rest of his life, is the same as a death sentence in my eyes.

Well the yanks want to make an example of him, and our spineless Labour Government is happy to let them do that rather than actually stand up to them or for the rights of a British citizen.

The Obama politburu recently appointed another unelected Internet Regulartory Czar Cass Sunnstein. Maybe they need a high profile scapegoat to feed to the lions. I would imagine comrade Obama has been on the blower to comrade Brown regarding sticking to their common purpose;)

Yes, COMMON PURPOSE indeed. It's tentacles begin to reach across the pond too.

Brown is so far up Obama's backside he can see sunlight.

Did Gary actually find anything on UFO'S or aliens? It doesn't seem so.

It's called rendition.
They allow their domestic terrorists to go on overseas holidays to far away countries with far less restrictions.

I see that Shahid Malik has refused to help Gary, I wonder what his stance would be if it was one of his own who was under threat?

Maybe someone should get a US citizen as deposit, just in case Gary is sent over there.

the "interesting" thing about usa "justice" is that in some states they have the death penalty. i dunno, does this extradition treaty allow for uk people to be shipped over to the states for trials that could dish out the death penalty if found guilty?
