I think this is absolutely wonderful. I have three cats and two dogs, and they always know when I'm down, or how to cheer me up, which is something I've always noticed about animals. They can sense energy very well.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Oscar the cat seems to have an uncanny knack for predicting when nursing home patients are going to die, by curling up next to them during their final hours. His accuracy, observed in 25 cases, has led the staff to call family members once he has chosen someone. It usually means they have less than four hours to live.

I read that article this morning and was going to post it, you beat me to it!

When I got home after a car crash both my cats sat on my lap for about two hours, it's unusual for both of them to do it at the same time, it was one of those deep moments like they knew I was feeling very fragile. One of them sleeps snuggled up to me every night, he's my living, breathing hot water bottle. He still 'feeds' from my rib/tummy area two or three times a day because as far as he's concerned I'm his mummy. He's also got smelly feet but I don't mind, I love the smell of them.

Animals are amazing, I love them all :)

Hah. I was just really stricken as to how pretty that cat is. The pictures of it are just wonderful. They say the cat ignores people and is rather contrary most of the time, unless someone is about to die, and it goes and sleeps with them. One of the families wanted the cat out of the room, and it began clawing at the door and meowing.

It's very interesting. But, I just LOVE how beautiful that animal is.

Trust you're animals more than people. Why? Because the animals are always right and won't lie to you.

There was another story in the news yesterday about how a small dog scared away a rattlesnake from a baby or something like that.

Two of my cats were ones that I found, and my third is really old. The two most recent ones, T.C (stands for The Coolest) and Leroy (bad, bad, Leroy Brown, baddest cat in the whole damn town, badder than ol' king kong, meaner than a junk yard dog) were the weirdest cases.

T.C is black with long hair, and he's grown really large. And Leroy, who followed me from out of no where as I was walking around my coldesack this last winter in the rain (I felt like it) is really small and grey. Leroy followed me, meowing three times around, and then followed me up to my porch. I knew the thing had chosen me, and I could tell it was a stray kitten, so I couldn't not let it stay.

So now, my older cat (who has a mean disposition...and hell, why not, she's old) stays away from the other two who have befriended each other. Yet, the big cat, who I thought was a pretty avid bird hunter, has taken a backseat to the little Leroy who brought home a fucking rabbit yesterday. But, I mean, how do you stay mad?

I CAN NOT believe I'm swapping kitty stories. Hah hah, only on the interet. People aren't supposed to know I'm sensitive. Not me, I'm the heavy drinking, chain smoking, politically frustrated wayward traveler who types on a Smith Corona... not someone who talks about their snuggly wuggly cats for hours.

For shame.

Yeah, they may snuggle with you, but what about the "wake up call" every morning? Where they're scratching your chest all to hell. Ahh!

I'm sorry I called you a psychopath, only good people love animals and now I know you're a good person so I apologise.

But like you say, don't go around telling everyone about this, you've got a lean, mean reputation to keep, a bit like myself. So lets keep quiet about this one OK, it can be our little secret. I won't tell anyone if you won't.

Yes I agree, no one in this world will ever love me unconditionally like my cats do. They come before anyone, if someone tells me they hate cats they never set foot in my house, we come as a package. I may be a saddo but I don't care, they're all I've got.

Do you have any pets Eternal?

Hey, I don't mind, I probably seem like a psychopath sometimes. I tend to react to things very harshly, especially when I'm worried about someone or care about someone, which is odd, but it's my innate personality. So, I always have to end up going back and saying "sorry I acted like a psychopath" anyways, hah hah.

I do have to keep my reputation! Unless of course I was one of those super villians with a cat always on my lap.

Here is me with the old cat Idda (sort for Idda Bitta Kitta):

Thanks. Yeah, that's how I've been able to drink in bars since I was 17, now that I'm of age though I'm bored with the whole thing and stay home instead, plus that a couple of Mexicans beat the shit out of me a couple of months ago for no reason, and I decided I should get a gym membership or something.

Yeah, my reputation is sinking fast here too. But, the FACT is, that cats ward off reptilian invadors, it's true, they're deathly afraid. Mummies too, just watch Brendon Frasier, he uses a cat to ward off evil and save the world. That's my argument....

Hi there!!
I totally agree, animals definitely have healing abilities, theres a good reason why hedge witches call their cats, dogs or frogs(?) familiars! They seem to have the knack of empathy which would put most humans to shame. For instance, last september my best friend died unexpectedly, and upon returning home I noticed my cat was literally following me around the house in a hardcore stalker-ish way, something she normally never does, well not to that degree, she would not leave me alone that night, it was unusual behaviour for her, she's a friendly cat but normally she likes her own space, it felt as though she knew Mick had died and was comforting me. The same with my dear old dog Willow now long passed, she was incredibly healing not only for me but many others, in fact Willow is a bit of a legend around suffolk and hertfordshire!
To some degree I wonder if animals really are more highly evolved emotionally then some humans, of course watching my cat vomit then eat it doesn't correlate with that statement but nevertheless, animals are demonstrating time and time again their healing and love for those in need!!

Quote from the BBC news page:
"A doctor who treats patients at the home said she believed there was probably a biochemical explanation, rather than the cat being psychic."
What a surprise.
And another source quoted that "'Scientists cannot find any explanation ........." Blah blah blah......

I feel really sorry for these 'experts' whose training forbids any holistic thinking or opening up of the mind.

Wow awesome! I love cats...my Auntie had about 13 at one stage (the hairless Sphinx ones.) Freaky looking things but man do they have awesome personalities.

The cool thing about cats is that they are independant and only spend time with you on thier terms...whereas a dog will jump up and down like a flippin crazy thing slobbering all over you going 'me me me me me me'!

A cat on the the hand will saunter in all cool like, look at you, look at the warm spot in front of the window, look at you again, think to himself 'meh, i'll have a little nap in the sun first before i say hello'.

And getting stronger all the time! Soon, that cat will posses so much old people strength we won't be able to stop it. It will amble across busy street midsections with the speed and agility of 10 sick and forgetful half-dead senior citizens; massive traffic jams will ensue, people will be late for work, the economy will crash!

Yeah. Cats don't have owners, they have staff. Hah, a girl told me once that cats are a lot like women, but I get a long with my cats a lot better. I mean, I'm just fine with waiting on my cat hand and foot, and doing whatever it wants when it meows, but somehow when women do it I get really annoyed. Go figure.

Hah, yeah you'll be walking around with a big wooly gray sweater on pouring cat food into all of your cats bowls talking to them, and all of your neighboors will go "there's that crazy cat lady again! She's so weeeeiiirrrddd".

..yes but sooner or later Oscar will have to stop for tea and scones...always an achilleas' heel (or is that achilleas' heal, something for the illuminatis play on words thread)
