Hi, new here,
What do people think about the scientific tests done on the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. I've been questioning my faith the last few months, but the thing that keeps me from throwing my Catholic faith completely out the window is the supposed findings of these tests done on the image.
I'd be curious to hear some opinions on this.
Just google this. It's a powerpoint presentation. I don't know how to put it in my post. Sorry.

Whether the test results are real or not, the symbolic and cultural signifigance of the image of 'Our Lady of Guadalupe' goes way beyond trying to find esoteric/occult/pagan symboliism and Zietgeist debunking of the 'myth of Christianity'
To the people of Mexico, and indeed throughout Latin America, it is an important symbol of where they come from and of their heritage of mixed indigenous Amerindian, African and Spanish European roots. It is pretty much EVERYWHERE throughout Latin America, and what it means to the people of that continent is something that outsiders, (no offence intended to any one here on the forum) won't ever be able to truly grasp. All across Latin America over the past 500 odd years, there has been a deeply complex and varied synchronisation of indigenous beliefs, African beleifs and the Roman Catholicism that was imposed on them. Over time certain tradtions were absorbed in to the Roman Catholicism of Latin America, which made it distinctly unique, from anywhere else in the world, paricularly Europe.

I'd say that is correct, sadly.
