That feller looks familiar to me!:D
Yes I remember that well. The school refused to answer my enquieries as well! I tried to call the Headmistress and she was always "in a meeting". They know it's wrong, but they're under orders from the Local Education Authority. And we can't disobey orders can we?:p
Thanks for posting that.

The good news is that the school has had to maintain a duel library membership system where my daughter and any other pupil who wants can continue to use the old cards. But the fingerprint scanner has been installed. I'll try to dig up the old threads about it.

How many parents backed you and shared your concerns?
I only ask because i'm trying to get parents to fight the installation of cctv
in a local primary school.
The parents were not informed,it was installed over the easter break, when the children returned to school the parents were given a letter to advise them of the installation.
The majority of parents seem to think it's good thing and that it will stop anti-social behaviour in the classroom.
For goodness sake why can't they see the bigger picture:(.
I don't have any children of primary school age, mine are grown up,but i remember the police visit when my daughter was in primary school and some of the kids had their finger prints taken, they were not kept on file it was for fun and learning, that was nearly twenty years ago,the conditioning began.
Well done to you,you have my great admiration.

Thanks, Comma. You have mine.:) Good luck in your campaign to stop CCTV in schools. They've not put up cameras in my daughter's school yet, but if they do I'll try to styop it to. I don't know how many parents share my concern, but several do for sure. Hopefully, because of the newspaper article others I've never met will do the same and refuse to let their kids be fiongerprinted. It will only take a small percentage of people to resist for the system to break down.

Excellent Haggie!
I went to my son's school to complain about the fingerprinting at dinnertimes. I only discussed it with the man who was in charge of the dinners.
I was assured that he wouldnt have to go through that system and at the same time told that his records wouldnt be taken off or he wouldnt be able to go to school!
He has free school meals and a letter came through asking for my permission for the Free School Meals department to go online and check my credentials for the entitlement.
I took umbrage to this and recently, (two days in fact) he now takes in a packed lunch.
I asked him only yesterday if he has to put his thumb in a scanner and he told me he did! (when he was on school dinners) I never thought to check with him if it had stopped and he didnt think to tell me. :(
Good for you doing this Hagbard, the man Ispoke to about it said there was only one other set of parents in the school who were against it and I replied its because parents dont know whats involved or even that its happening. I didnt. I remember a letter brought home mentioning if they had my permission to fingerorint my son, it was only one small sentence, didnt give you the details and I presumed it was just for a lesson experiment or something :o

That is simply untrue. My son gets bullied at school regularly. He used to ride his bike to school and very often came home with punctures. He actually caught one lad in the process of puncturing his tyres. I went up to complain at the school and if CCTV was genuinely there for the protection of the pupils they would have put CCTV in the bikesheds. The Head of Year said that CCTV was there for the childrens protection so I asked him if this was so then why arent camera's installed in areas where bullying most occurs

Nice one, Ben :)
This reminds me of something I saw in the States recently, a acquaintances's son brought home a letter of consent for the school to randomly search lockers and students for drugs. Needless to say, that letter got torn in half and tossed in the nearest bin. It's this kind of collective thought that's extraordinarily dangerous for civil rights and liberties. Everyone is individual, and deserves to be treated as such.

Ooh they're so crafty!:rolleyes::( I've heard many stories about how kids and parents have been tricked by the school into joining the database. They are so cagey about it! Like I said, my daughter's own headmistress wouldn't return my phonecalls or reply to my letters. I get the feeling this agenda is being done very quietly and sneakily. The Local Education Authorities are giving the schools whispered threats. "This must be done, but don't tell anyone." And of course the problem is that the school headmasters and headmistresses are surrendering to those threats and carrying out the wishes of the LEA's. I bet the LEA staff have been given the same threats by the Education Secretary and so on and so on. It's a situation where, to quote Our Dave: "One of the sailors in the pyramid needs to get a cough":D:p;). The whole thing hass all the hallmarks of Common Purpose actually. I saw Brian Gerrish live on Saturday and he was brilliant!

I'm glad my daughter is the age she is, 14. I'd hate to have a young child just starting out at school in this day and age.:(

This is one of the points i try to get across to parents,it's not for the bullying
or because they bloody care about the kids.
on an upside some of the parents are beggining to see the bigger picture, keep at it as they say.
I do hope your son is o.k,i detest bullies in any form, the schools don't take it seriously enough.
That really touched me,my own son was bullied at school,i threatened to take him out if they did'nt sort it out.

Interestingly, what Beldazar said links in with a conversation I had today via email. I've heard from somebody only today who told me how a young girl was hit by her first menstrual period in class and the CCTV captured it all!:(
