Yes but where does this behavior come from? It comes from a hunger for more, and insatisfaction. They are missearable inside so they are always doing alcohol and drugs, trying to sweep their true emotional state under the carpet. Most people these days are like that, not just celebs, but celebs have it the worst because they can afford anything, and therefore they are often caught in the trap of spending more and more for external things. Cocain is a dead give-away that they are in this state, because everyone knows that it slowly puts a hole in your brain, yet they do it anyway. They need the experience, because being down is tragic.

I'm not convinced that these celebs have MPD. We don't need theory about brainwashing, because their lifestyle and our current social norms are what's causing them to behave they way they do.

We're all programmed. The biocomputer that we mistake for us is like a robot--it doesn't need conciousness behind it to function, just like a real metal robot doesn't need one. It just needs the program.
