As we know most branded toothpaste contains fluoride and a ton of other chemical "good for us" crap that is awful for teeth. I use fluouride free toothpaste but it's usually twice the price and not very pleasant in the mouth so could folk here suggest alternatves or good cheap fluouride free toothpastes that are easy to obtain and that help make healthy shiny teeth?. Thanks.

I use it , YOu only need a pea sized amount on your brush as it seems to be more than enough.
You get used to the taste , allthough its not pleasant at first..

Yeah I agree about the taste, but it does wake you up in the morning an it is fluoride free.

One thing that i have heard is that " A dab of Allo Vera on the toothbrush is the best toothpaste" ~ apparently it frothes up in the mouth well too.
I havent tried it yet although i do have a small Allo Vera plant in a pot outside.
You just break a bit of leaf off and the gel comes seeping out. I will have to get around to trying it, i keep forgetting. ( Allo Vera is a succulent plant, like a cactus wihout prickles).
There is one other thing that i have tried, and that is baking soda ( bi-carb). Now this works really well and whitens your teeth and they feel so clean and smooth afterwards but the really important thing is to : brush really really gently
as it is harsh on gums and they could feel sore. Prolly only brush for a minute or less, until you get used to brushing gently. Most people brush their teeth too hard anyway, so I ve heard, I know i used to.
To use the baking soda, just damp your toothbrush, dab it in the powder, and first sip water to wet inside your mouth. brush gently with the baking soda powder.
Rinse a lot after as the taste is not the best. ( I can get used to it, goes away quickly, especially if you rinse a lot.)

First of all: it's the crappy food that we eat that leads to a lot of problems with our teeth, so you can start by changing your diet.
Secondly, just use non-fluoridated toothpaste. Easy.

I agree, mrmoney, but non-f t/p costs twice the price and everyone is trying to save $$$ these days.
If you feel you are stuck with f t/p, just don't use the pea-sized amount they advise on the tube.
You can use a 10th or less, just the tiniest dab, and it still froths up and you can brush your teeth.
Just rinse a lot of fresh water afterwards.
I have heard about people using seawater, if they are near the sea. But still always rinse a lot with fresh water.

Baking soda and hydrogen proxide.
Better still pull em all out and invest in disposable dentures. :D

^ Yeah, for the past 3 or 4 yr's I have been wetting my toothbrush, then dipping into bi carb of soda, then brush away. But you don't really need to brush when living of the land, that's when an apple is handy.

thanks for that site. I had a quick look, I know I spelt allo vero wrong all along, it is meant to be aloe vera
I was trying to promote natural remedies rather than "products", but that site looks pretty interesting.

Aloedents pretty good... makes my teeth feel better than the dentist approve flouride based pastes. I hardly used to brush my teeth as a kid, went days without brushing, never had a rotten tooth or a filling... but now I've found an alternative, it just maintains the strength and cleans them from the stains of my vices :D

Unfortunately I grew up in a very poor family. The draw back was free dental care for children. Every time I went to the butchers (children dental hospital) apparently me and my siblings needed a filling. Or a friggin hole drilled plus a big ass needle inserted into our gums.:(

I swear I had a demonic dentist once, he thought that just cos I was a kid he could get away with MURDER!! lol, he numbed the wrong side of my mouth and didn't have enough anaesthetic in the sychringe to numb the right side... and I'll never forget these words, he said "Stand the pain" as I yelped cos it was unnessarcarily unbearable.... AND he didn't wear any gloves, it was a nightmare.

holland and barret is a highstreet shop for health people!
I love it - somethings are really bad but they have loads of good shit in there - i called the maker of this toothpaste and questioned him about why he makes it without floride!
was very surprised by his answers - he is extremely awake!
so i keep buying it to support him
