HELP! Forum not Working

There's something seriously wrong, on the technical side, with this forum.

Several members have commented on how it runs very slowly and unreliablly. Tonight it is so bad for me that it is unusuable. Pages are taking 4 to 7 minutes to come up. sometimes the paper and banner come up and the rest doesn't. I click buttons and tabs and nothing happens. I've checked my connection speed and it's running normally at 576 kbps.

I apologize to anyone who's left me any posts to reply to; I won't be able to tonight. I'll try again tomorrow.

Please help, because this is my favorite forum and I want to be able to use it.

ditto that - ive just spent the best part of half an hr trying to post a message as small as this one in myeika's flooding thread- VERY frustrating indeed!! tonight's particularly bad indeed! might give up and go watch the hypnobox instead in a minute!!! :D

I think this forum is based on an open source php program, the same that many other forums use. Some forums based on this program probably have much more users online than this forum, but maybe some functionality has been added to this forum that is eating up computer resources on the server?

Yes, things are a bit sluggish at the moment.

Sean has uploaded Part 1 of the July Video-cast (filmed with premier subscribers in June) to the Premier Subscriber forum, so people are likely downloading it, which probably explains the forums slow page loading at the moment. :)

The same thing happens every month when the vidcasts are uploaded. Everyone trying to download at the same time causes congestion. It is extremely frustrating, I must say.

Although I've just been speaking to JP and he said the move to the new server is very imminent, so hopefully we'll be free of this problem soon - woohoo....:)

I'm using the PC at work at the moment and it seems to be a bit better.

My last few posts have disappeared! It says on the margins on the board menu that I've replied, but when I click on the thread my post is not there! Is this happening to anyone else?

Ya me too...this is starting to drive me crazy. I like to pop in from time to time durin the day (while at work) to drop a comment or do some reading but with the forum seemingly getting slower and slower i hardly bother any more.

It's hard to sneak a quick read in when the bloody pages take 30+ seconds to load!

It's a shame and i hope that things get better 'cos my patience is wearing thin. (ya i'm working on that too! :))

It was really bad yesterday when the webcast first went up. It took me so many attempts to get it downloaded. On the plus side it's great that so many people are excited by the webcasts and have to watch them as soon as they go up.

Ah cmon guys I know this is frustrating, but lets not let it effect us too much eh. There is light at the end of the tunnel with the new server coming up (hopefully VERY soon!!), so it should all be plain sailing from there onwards... :D

Keep perservering, I know it's hard but we really don't wanna be losing anyone over it. & hey if you're looking in from work (like I am, lol), you're still being able to browse (even though it is slow) & get paid for it, so good stuff IMO!!;):p

yep slow for me also, its a PHP forum so it will have a MYSQL data base type, it's just finding it hard to cope with all the viewing and posting, also because the forum is popular, Bandwidth will become a factor i guess even more so as people will be downloading the new Vids etc, just relax my friends it's all good, i could help with about 80 gig bandwidth per month for video hosting if need be, just ask :) have absolutely know idea how you could implement it though so probably pointless.

No, not hackers, just a lack of bandwidth hampering things. This will be sorted soon.

I've let Sean know we've been having some extra problems over the past 24 hours or so, and I'm sure if there's anything he can do to speed things up a little, he will.

Meanwhile, just grit your teeth, count to 10, and make your run when things free up a bit....as they do from time to time. :D

But have been unable to get on it for a few days,
As an alternative the illusions forum is OK,
both are going slow at the moment,
