The last few weeks, Switzerland could vote for or against a new biometric passport, including 2 fingerprints and a picture of the face saved on a chip.
50.14 percent of the people said YES, they say it was 5504 votes more, the news have just told us. (Maybe they've manipulated it as well, who knows.)
If they had counted the votes by the different cantons, Switzerland would have denied the new passport.
I am so disappointed....
Although that means that a lot of people are aware of what this will mean. They'll put the new passport in place from 2010 on.

There has already been some interesting informations about the reading scanner for the passes, because it's possible to tap it already in a circle of 25 meters. They claim to have installed new filters, but it turned out not to work.

It would have been interesting to see what would have happened if the poeple had said no, because although we're not in the EU (yet), we have contracts with it, for example the Schengen-contract, which basically means that we have to obey the EU although not being in it. They claimed to cancel the contract if we'd have said no.
However, I'll now drown my anger in Swiss chocolate and am off for today. ;)
I just wanted to share my disappointment with you.
