Ask questions.

Don't justtake it for blind authority because you'll be the fool everyone dispises.

Don't view this thread.

WHY??

Don't click this link.

WHY??

.

Don't let someone tell you what to do, find reason for the prohibited action, then make up your own mind. Don't let someone do it for you.

Obviously, I couldn't resist clicking on this thread, which must be the point of the title. But then I managed to collect myself before I clicked on the link, so now I have no idea what this is all about. Clearly can't be important.

From the site:

"You have displayed a tendency to desire that which is not allowed and is prohibited. You could have browsed freely through millions of other Web pages, but you decided to disobey."

----------------
----------------

Well if they didn't want us to go to the site, they should have not made the page! LOL

Likewise, from a literal view of the Garden of Eden story (and I see as a simplistic interpretation of the Garden of Eden mythological symbolic story), "God" creates paradise for humans to live in yet oddly makes two important trees smack in the middle and says not to eat of the fruit of those tees ... They are FORBIDDEN!!! Then leaves the humans alone. It's like parents putting a big clear jar of chocolate chip cookies on the table and then sayingto the kids not to eat any and then going outside LOL.

If dogs had a Bible , it would go something like this:

--------
And "Dog" created "The Dog Park" ... and he barked that it was 'woof' ('good' in dog langauge.... ok, that word means everything else too. The limited canine language makes the 'Dog Bible' a bit hard to interpret ... almost as difficult as the human one haha). And in the middle of this park he placed a bush onto which grew doggy treats ... nearby he planted a red fire hydrant.

He commanded to his puppies not to eat of the bush which grows doggy treats or partake of urination on the red fire hydrant .......... then he walked away.

-----------
-----------

Just does not make any sense!

It's really a 'stage play' ... a myth ... a story with characters and parts which symbolise the perticament humans feel they see in their reality. The play has specific parts and the characters act out the parts.

Complaining that they ate the fruit from the Tree of Knowledge is like complaining at some point in a movie for the character not to do some key act because you know what will happen next. If he didn't, the movie would be dull as Hell (or rather, dull as Heaven) haha.

--------
The GArden of Eden story also has a culturally remembered remnants relating to a time of pre-agriculture (pre-agricultre when humans lived more by their feelings ... less by controlling feelings for time periods).

Without the symbol of the 'fruit of the tree of knowledge', humans are like other creatures. The fruit of the tree of knowledge is a symbol of the prime problem of human reality. It is similar to the fire from Promethues. The abilities of knowledge and power versus our immediate feelings which are controlled to allow complicated task-controlled society to exist.

Actually the Garden of Eden is a very interesting symbolic myth and there's no doubt much more to it's symbolism.

I do think many literal Christians don't really get much insight from it by believing in it as a historic literal event in time (although I shouldn't speak on their behalf ... rather say I just see it from a different angle). They just aquire a sort of communal guilt trip inherited from the first "disobeyers" (I see as symolic disobeyers .. .they see as literal disobeyers)..... which is a more simplistic idea than seeing the real consequence of power and knowledge ... which is the resulting problem of combining and balancing our basic animal natures with concentrated power.

Perhaps it's easier to control the masses' ego-power with an ingrained guilt trip than for people to really see and understand what power can do.

--------
It's like in the story of Icarus and Daedalus, His father says not to fly to high on the wings of wax and feathers but his son does anyway. Perhaps Daedalus shouldn't have said anything (just as "God" shouldn't have mentioned the trees in the Garden not to eat from ;-) ) or perhaps he purposefully (with a wink to the reader... perhaps "God" was winking while he told of the trees not to eat from) sparked his son's interest so that his son *would* fly to high. In this way, when the wax melted and feathers broke apart, his son plummeted into the waves of the ocean .... to drown in the depths of a psychologically drained ego-death . Through this direct experience , Icarus would eventually resurface but with the wisedom of "really" knowing the effects and consequences of power instead of just obeying some external rule.

In this way, I can see symbolic similarities between some aspects of these concepts and myths

1... Garden of Eden story
2... Icarus and Daedalus flight
3... Buddhist spinning wheel - being at the centre instead of the rim
4... the 'Wheel of Fortune' tarot card

Why do we have to spell out the badness that will happen, we need to be telling these 'lost' brothers the beuty they can recieve, not scare them.
