LONDON — Two British tourists have died in separate incidents in the Mediterranean resort town of Marmaris, U.K. and Turkish officials said Tuesday.

Police in Turkey said they were investigating the deaths of two women and the bodies had been sent to the city of Izmir for autopsies. Britain's Foreign Office confirmed the deaths and said both were believed to have happened Monday.

The state-run Anatolia news agency said the women's bodies were found in their hotel rooms. The victims have been identified as 45-year-old Carolyn Jane Birch and 32-year-old Sarah Samantha Jones. Their hometowns were not yet known.

Anatolia said Birch died in her room at the Pasa Beach Hotel. The agency said she was in Marmaris for a two-week holiday.

Anatolia said Jones died at the Keskin Hotel, where she had been vacationing with her boyfriend.

Set between wooded hills on Turkey's southern coast, Marmaris is tourist hotspot and its marinas are a popular stopping point for yachts and cruise ships.

The Foreign Office said consular staff in Marmaris have been in contact with the women's families. It gave no further detail on the deaths or how they occurred.

maybe they had both been to the same place on the day they died and both ate the same thing or took a bad batch of the same drug ? or there drinks were spiked if in the same club ?

EDIT - maybe there is a way of contacting the foreign office or soenwhere to find out how many british women died last year while in turkey or marmaris. and work out the odds of 2 british women dying on the same day in turkey comapred to the statistics from last year. Looking at it form a conspiracy angle, potentially some kind of target to white british women aged btween 25-45. Some kind of DNA biological attack, targeting that type of person. Something released into the water or food supply in marmaris by some military organisation to see if anyone in that age bracket or ethinic origin was affected. Testing out there DNA Bio weapon.
