A previous majority for the euro in Denmark has dissipated – and Danes want to keep their opt-outs.

The latest opinion poll on EU affairs in Denmark shows a majority of Danes would reject the euro if a referendum were to be held today. Similarly the previously so steady majority in favour of giving up opt-outs on legal and defence cooperation seems to have disappeared.

According to the Rambøll poll for Jyllands-Posten, 45.2 percent of Danes would vote to maintain Denmark’s own currency while 43.7 percent would be prepared to adopt the euro. In January, 49.8 percent said they were prepared to accept the euro.

Apart from the euro issue, support for getting rid of Denmark’s legal and military opt-outs has also dropped, with equal numbers now for and against removing them.

Prime Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen said after meetings in Brussels yesterday that he hoped to be able to call a referendum on the euro during the current electoral period.

Ah, god, almost blushing stepping onto this thread with such accolade for danes and Denmark. Please, kin, don't fail us now :o

Already the manipulation has begun, yesterday in Børsen (our equivalent of Financial Times) a big obviously staged inteview with an american financial "top expert" advising us to get in on the euro, but be smart about it, so that we can "get out again quickly" if need be.
Oh i can't wait for our new prime minister to present a wonderful "smart" way that we can join the euro but get out quickly if need be. What's there to loose, right? If we don't like it we just get out right? On and on, bit by bit, step by step, amsterdam treaty, lisbon treaty yada yada - same pattern.

Thanks for thinking so highly of us though :p:)

It would be wonderful if there really was a massive majority against this time.

lol maybe the Danish royalty is higher up in the hidden-hand society-chain than I had originally thought
and/or that has nothing to do with the fact that one of the world's most socialistic and therefore TOTALLY NON-FREE countries is seen as this amazing place for all these reasons. If we take the 'assumption' that they're the happiest nation, so fucking what? if they're happy because they're fucking clueless about shit, is that really something to admire?
A considerable percentage of people, young and old alike, are very familiar with the 9/11 conspiracy theories for example. But FUCK NO something like that could NEVER EVER EVER happen in Denmark, it's Denmark for fuck's sake! The income taxes pay the unemployment benefits, not the exemption accounts!
This whole NO TO THE EURO argument is actually just a total waste of fucking time, the Danish Kroner is so closely tied to the Euro anyways, a fixed exchange rate between them as well. Just like how certain conspiracy shit is now encouraged by the MSM, as long as it's mundane stuff that is just as good a distraction from the real truths as anything else.
Unemployment in the country has been at extreme all-time lows and has now increased a bit, naturally, and everyone here feels like it's the end of the world etc. when the UK is hit 130957190351 times harder in almost all aspects (regardless of media portrayal, I'm talking about actual experienced effects by living souls - you can go through tonnes of shops at almost super-peak times and find them near-empty in London)
Barely anyone in this country has heard of Bernie Madoff because some stupid puppettee scam-artist was running some micro scam compared to Bernie's over in Denmark and for a month or 2 people actually cared more about that story than what dress the fucking queen wore at the weekend.
Obviously the country has great people, just like any other country though - Denmark is just so ARROGANTLY ignorant in it's very own unique way that makes it easy for people to fool themselves into thinking that Denmark actually isn't ignorant at all.

just wanted to add a few more things - in this country on any given day most citizens would not be surprised to find one of the following on the front page of a newspaper - a rampant rabbit vibrating dildo ("mum, what's that?" "well son that's for when daddy's on a business trip!" I mean honestly, front page?), a headline about football (front page having football is just.. sigh), some picture of a group of douchebags wearing 318793856193851L of fake tan and a caption saying "INNOCENT BOY STABBED IN TRAGIC ACCIDENT" when the cunt had almost definitely been totally in some gangster's face and been practically begging to be stabbed, etc. etc. but of course this is an above-average intellect highly-civilised happy nation who just happen to worship the MSM and the state
