FutureShock is being used on us and it's so obvious!:( I first realized it when the Cold War ended and we no longer had to be scared of a nuclear holocaust. I then remembered seing all sorts of other apocalyptic scenarioes creeping out ofthe woodwork: cometary impact, plague, volcanic destruction, Mega-Tsunamies, solar radiation, environmental destruction... the list is virtually enless!:rolleyes:

They need us to be scared of something. If we're bombarded with constant Armageddon scenarioes we're going to become demoralized and dispondant. We'll start thinking along the lines of: "There's no point campaigning for a payrise because we'll all be dead in 5 years." and "What's the use of protesting it'll do no good because the world wil be blown up by a meteorite in 2015" etc. Is there any point waking up tomorrow morning?:confused: We might as well pop a bottle of pills tonight!

It all goes back to Report From Iron Mountain. The Elite use fear and insecurity to demoalize us and make us despondant. It's deliberate!

An interesting little documentary that. It made me think of another doc I spotted a while back. Not sure if you're aware of it but I'll post it anyway.

This is a little known documentary based on the book Future Shock by Alvin Toffler.

See review here:

This movie came out in 1972 and features Orson Welles as the narrator. I was most amused by the high amount of paranoia in regards to the future... some of the segments (like people choosing their own skin color) are downright hilarious. Worth a look - at the very least for its historical value.

The book 'Future shock' which this is based on is well worth a read. It describes the technique of using information overload on the populace to bring about apathy and withdrawal.Toffler, who is very well connected to elite circles, documents experiments using this method in the book. He coined the phrase "Information overload".

I agree with your observations on the end of the cold war. Its a relentless bombardment of negativity that does wear you down in the end, especially if your not aware of the motives.

Cheers, Antiem.:) The theme of shock tactics reminded me of FutureShock. So we have FutureShock and "PresentShock". What about "PastShock"? They'll think of that one i'm sure! Tavistock are probably working on it now!

Mushroombot, thankd for posting that film. I'll have to pull up a chair and have a look.:)
