View Full Version : (Chuckle) : Lithium Water!
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/8025454.stm
Drinking water which contains the element lithium may reduce the risk of suicide, a Japanese study suggests.
"However, lithium also has significant and an unpleasant side effects in higher doses, and can be toxic. Any suggestion that it should be added, even in tiny amounts, to drinking water should be treated with caution and researched very thoroughly."
Based on the kind of blind isolation of certain vitamins or minerals with wonderful claims about their benefits, only for them to months later announce that actually it can cause cancer so in fact you'd better not continue, let's hope they don't consider the insanity of a "one size fits all" solution of adding something like this to water. This "one size fits all" with certain elements really is a dangerous way to think. People should be looked at on an individual basis, on their individual biochemistry. Not a heavy handed - "Pour loads of lithium into water, that will keep em happy".
I'd like to feel that governments would not be so idiotic, but I wouldn't put it past them.

Wouldnt surprise me. Shouldnt surprise anyone.
At least not after you really look at the make-up of flouride and aspertame.
I love beginning to tell someone what aspertame is in both chemical/bio structure, and watching the look of horror as they change the subject or give the whatayagonnado shrug.
Well I dont love it, but yeah.

Ashland, Oregon has, in front of the park, a public water fountain that features Lithium water. It tastes horrible.
My cousin from there is crazy and in some mental support home or something. Don't know if the water had anything to do with it.
(Ashland is famous for the Shakespeare festival.)

The study has prompted calls for further research into the possibility of adding lithium to drinking supplies – like water fluoridation to improve dental health.
Researchers at Oita University in Japan measured natural lithium levels in tap water in 18 communities in the surrounding region of southern Japan. The lithium levels ranged between 0.7 micrograms per litre and 59 micrograms per litre.
The researchers then calculated the suicide rate in each of the 18 areas. They found that the suicide rate was significantly lower in those areas with the highest levels of lithium in the water.

I love how scientific the studys are they looked at lithum levels and then looked at suicide levels... I mean what the fuck has that got to do with anything. They didnt study the effects of lithium on the human body they simply picked two random statistics. They probably had to go through quite a few until they found somthing favourable to sell it to the public like lithium to intelligence...? no umm lithium to eye sight..? no umm lithium to average age of death..? no hum ummm lithium to suicide rate? ahh yes positive lets sell it to them on that then.
Not to mention the fact that the general public will not be afflicted by sucide and so the idea of medicate the entire population is just insane and it shouldnt even be considered in a sane world.

Doctors give lithium to people who are considered bi-polar as it makes their mood more level, so it is not a completely random statistic to measure for. Just keep in mind correlation =/= causation, whenever you see that claimed as being why something occurs do not believe it is the sole reason why. Whatever it may be could potentially have an effect upon the situation, but that is neglecting an entire slew of other possibilities.

lithium is the least of my concerns re. water....the supply is already poisoned has been for years!
This is what passes for news?
Knowing our luck, they would do that becuz we are a threat to ourselves and each other. I'd love to give these experts lithium and see how it affects them.

Lithium in water...yea i heard about this last week...sounds like a good idea......because they would only be ''natural levels''...........
I really dont know where this world is going...and of course the people will take this and drink it...just like we have fluoride, chloride and whatever else we drink nowadays.....
Whats wrong w humans? At least animals dont know whats in the water so they drink it, just like us when we dont know what is in the water.....
But when we humans find out whats in the water, we are still ok with it, no wonder in the old testament God felt bad for creating us......

I wonder if they are planning to "test" Lithium out in the water supply of that town in Wales where all those "suicides" happened

Someone I knew was on lithium for some mental disorder, he gained weight then topped himself, I wonder if indeed, it has been tested out in Bridgend.
