our troops left basra today, apparently. its the end of british ops in iraq.

a good thing, certainly. although i cant help but be worried for the iraqi's now the americans are running the show unchecked. :S
i think that the english were keeping tabs on the americans to some extent. and without us, things will get worse.

american relations with ANY country seems to be dirt poor. american soldiers have undying bloodlust...

im not saying the sun shines from our soldiers ass'. but i believe theyre more intelligent and the vast majority are there because they believe theyre helping. the americans on the other hand, are just living out their computer game shoot em up fantasy. its worrying :(

One hundred and seventy-nine dead soldiers. For what? 179,000 dead Iraqis? Or is the real figure closer to a million? We don't know. And we don't care. We never cared about the Iraqis. That's why we don't know the figure. That's why we left Basra yesterday.

Quite.

The oath of loyalty in the UK armed forces is to the monarch. They do not serve the people in any way shape or form but are there as the attack dogs of the elites. same as with all militarys.

I agree. I dont doubt these soldiers courage but they are not my troops and I am getting sick to the back teeth of being told they are heroes and how I should be proud of them and support them etc. Why should I?

This story seems to give the impression that those Iraqi casualty figures relate directly to the British forces whereas they are probably a figure for the entire country. Dont forget that a large percentage of those are caused by the Iraqis themselves, struggling for power for their indvidual groups. They are not some united front against the west and such people often resort to killing to settle tribal scores. Also, when they decide to let off huge bombs near populated areas they will cause casualties among the general population.

If it had not been for Saddam ruling that country with an iron fist they would have been fighting years ago. I know for a fact that there are gulf countries who are not at war but who have internal sectarian troubles so that their nations troops cannot even wear their uniforms in public.

The moral is, dont blame the west for all those deaths.

I was thinking about this scenario this morning.

1) British Troops asked if they would fire on their own.
2) British Troops withdraw from Iraq.
3) Swine Flu Pandemic in the UK
4) State of Emergency in the UK?
5) British Troops on UK streets?
6) See 1)

Just a theory.
