The human mind loves control. It loves control almost as much as it loves money. It doesn't like someone else's money. It loves money that it has control over, and primarily that means money that "I" can call "mine".
This love of control can both be good and bad. It is good because it creates integrity and the sense of being an individual and not merely a hive-minded selfless blob. It is negative because it creates an inner ongoing conflict between "me/mine" and "not me/mine". Everything that is not under my control becomes "not me", and therefore I will try to either defend myself against the "not me" or try to bring it under my control so it becomes part of the "me/mine".
Transcending this inner conflict can be achieved by starting to own not only the "me/mine" but also fully own "not me/mine".
