The “Pandemic Panic!” news hype of 2009 is almost over. But luckily for the DLC-rich Obama™, it can still be used to secure a couple of initiatives for the current administration that were proving a little troublesome in the recent past.
Way to go, swine flu! Just hang in there a little longer, would ya, so Team DLC Obama Brand (and their republicans in disguise) can put the finishing touches on Friedman Free-Marketing Miracle of America.
The first of these two issues that will be resolved in the White House approved manner now seems to be the $900 million dollar give-away plan for “nation pandemic preparedness programs”, that Team DLC Obama Brand had tucked neatly in their original version of the Stimulus Package but the evil republicans (insert canned audience “hssss”) had figured we could probably do without. I guess those 20 infected people in the U.S. could have used that $900 million dollar plan right about now, huh?
But since all the “progressive” sites are jumping on the band wagon right on cue and cussing at the republicans (insert canned audience “hsss”) for cutting that nearly 1 billion dollars out of the Stimulus Package because it wouldn’t “stimulate” anything except Al Gore’s investment portfolio and Donald Rumsfeld’s Tamiflu based bank accounts, all may soon be well in the land of milk and honey for Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers’ “Pandemic Preparedness and BioDefense Initiative” and the DLC “awakening” in Washington.
That’s right, Team DLC Obama Brand has already put out the call for more money to pump into the “private sector” pandemic Preparedness plans.
In keeping with the notion that you can’t let a good crisis go to waste, Team DLC Obama Brand has also pushed for a hasty confirmation of his nominee for health and human services secretary and fellow DLC standout, Kathleen Sebelius.
If you recall, Sebelius was not only a governor, but she also;
1. “… served 8 years as her state’s insurance commissioner (proving she has deep ties to the insurance industry)
2. “… served as president of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners” (proving she has even deeper ties to the insurance industry)
3. “…was elected to her first term with a former Republican businessman as her running mate” (proving she lives up to the DLC credo “We are REALLY REPUBLICANS IN DISGUISE!! You stupid progressive simpletons!”)
4. “… ran a second time with the former state Republican party chairman on her ticket.” (can’t beat that for “bipartisanship” huh? Just so long as it’s the Dems conceding to the pro-globalist, NAFTA loving, free-trade neocon agenda, that is…)
