MIT Find a Cure for Fear
What do you make of it, and do you think it will be used against humanity, or to help humanity?

both i suppose, postively it can release people from fear of just about anything, i mean, fear is the mind killer, it blocks us, makes us react in the strangest ways, but conversly, if people fear the system, it could be used to abate those fears, effectively having people have no opinion when tanks roll into their cities.

I have got a cure for fear that doesn't involve torturing lab mice. It is called expanded consciousness/awareness/spirituality.

Personally, I'll give myself as a human test subject.

I see the potential here for good, but also for abuse by the wrong people.
As for fear it self, its there for a reason.
Distrust in the context of interpersonal fear, is sometimes explained as the inward feeling of caution, usually focused towards a person, representing an unwillingness to trust in someone else. Distrust is not a lack of faith or belief in someone, but a feeling of warning towards someone or something questionable or unknown. For example, one may "distrust" a stranger who acts in a way that is perceived as "odd." Likewise one may "distrust" the safety of a rusty old bridge across a 100 ft drop.Fear can be good, it gives us a sense of judgement and instincts for survival.
Terror refers to a pronounced state of fear - which usually occurs before the state of horror - when someone becomes overwhelmed with a sense of immediate danger. Also, it can be caused by perceiving the (possibly extreme) phobia. As a consequence, terror overwhelms the person to the point of making irrational choices and non-typical behaviour. This is the point that fear becomes unhealthy and can lead to mass hysteria. Its the tactics used by Governments to effect and control opinions then make decisions that effect our lives profoundly with our free and willing consent, i.e. we make irrational choices based on fear.

No doubt it will be used as a weapon.
I'll keep my emotions though thanks very much, every one of them has been of use to me at some time. It is that which separates me from them.
And fear creates adrenalin a very useful substance against some of their chemical weapons, gives you strength you didnt know you had in emergencies and speeds up your reactions too. Yeah on the whole I would prefer to keep fear.
