I hear ya joy division!! Although I try not to let it get me down as much anymore & remain as positive as I can. Until I'm in the position to change things to how I really wanna live my life, then I'm ok to stick it out for a little bit longer...
I know it's hard sometimes, but don't succumb to the negativity, that's exactly what they wanna create in people! Instead try to think about all the good things / people you have in your life, things you are grateful for & maintain that happy vibe :D Anyway, just my two pennies worth.

I don't like the idea of a 'boss' like some Father- or Mother- figure ruling everything of other individuals. I have no problem with authority (like Mr. Anderson), but I don't like the idea of having ALL authority for EVERYTHING put into some silly boss figure.

Not 100% sure - but you'd probably still get something .. I'm on income based JSA instead of contribution based (tho not if you walk out) .. if not that, then Income Support of some variaty or Working Tax Credit if you have a partner who works. Depends on your circumstances I guess .. ie, partners, kids etc
Like auron - I refuse to play their game and rather be self-employed (which I'm just about to start). Good job I'm not money orientated.

But isn't it true that when you find something interesting you have a lot of energy? When I am lazy it's almost always because I'm bored.

We have no other choice but to work here in America. Welfare is not a viable option. Brits have the many options. I know, I lived there for 9 years.
In England I knew people with nice homes (provided by the local council) in decent neighborhoods. They often would have enough to take 2 week holidays in Ibiza and regular trips to France, etc
Here in the states if you don't work you're screwed. If you don't play their game you will be stuck in a rat and roach infested housing project in the city or dilapidated trailer park in the remote parts, No choice!

Hi thunda
Yeah I haven't really looked into it that deeply, but know from years ago when I got made redundant, I wasn't entitled to anything. It was sort of because you'd always had a job, they can't see why you don't have one so won't give you anything. My circumstances have changed slightly since then, so I may be entitled to something because of my son, but other than that probably nothing. It seems that to play them at the game you have to start as you mean to go on, or find some other loophole out of it all.
Oh & good luck with your new business, being your own boss should be good, no-one to answer to!!:D

yeah mate. for food, shelter, car insurance, high gas prices, taxes, school for themselves, school for their children, clothes, leisure activities. phone bill, electric bill, cable bill, cell phone bill.
loads of junk other than that as well. out of control how much they pressure you into "needing" such a high income of cash.

Anders, yes it is true. There are lots of jobs available here. It's the quality of jobs that's the problem. Anyone wanting or needing a job can get one.
However, if you earn minumum wage you can expect to share accomodations and survive only with very basics. The cost of quality nutritious food here has risen at an alarming rate, whereas the cost of a double cheeseburger and other junk foods seem to have frozen at 1998 price levels. Drive through our poorest neighborhoods and you will see they are littered with KFC's , McDonalds, Dunkin Donuts, Burger King, Taco Bell, etc. The poeple living like this become very sickly and many morbidly obese. All by design of course.
God Bless America!

Yes, I read in a Swedish newspaper today that food, such as stuff for breakfast, is becoming more expensive in America. I think the same can happen here. What happens in America often happens in Europe after a while.

yeah i stopped my 'education' after high school. which was only last year, but i have made no plans or attempt to do the college thing which my guidance counselors always made me feel bad about and gave me weird looks like they were disgusted with me for that decision.
they kept trying to force me to look into schools i might like. i always told them not to waste their time on me. and not to put me down because i wasn't following they're premeditated idea that college is the essential to a 'successful life'
true education is learning about reality based on what is inside of us. not learning how to adapt to this corrupt world that we're born into!

Indeed, millions follow the SAME syllabus, which trys to condition everyone to accept the dysfunctional society which is very cleverly designed to benefit the tiny few at the top.

I fully agree. The only problem with this is that here in the US those with no college generally are discriminated against in the employment marketplace.
You run the risk of not being able to compete for a job witha real livable wage, for now anyway.

I have a feeling that 'college' in America is touted as being esssential because it shackles the student to his 'loan' and gets them on the treadmill of debt as soon as possible.

HERE IS A POST I MADE IN ANOTHER THREAD THAT I THINK FITS HERE AS WELL
the thing is.
from generation to generation. for the past thousands of years.
people have been born into this world, with hierarchy and outrageous politics.
and since they are born into this world of systematic, and controlled lifestyles,
they believe that it is 'just how the world works, by luck of the draw'
there have always been those, that realize how much more life is than that which we have been experiencing it as in this prison of a system that the illuminati have set up for us over such a long time. and those people try to speak out and awaken the population that doesn't understand this truth. that life is just a ride, and that we are free to get on and off when we please and we can change it anytime we want.
but as bill hicks says. we kill those people. HAHAHAHA
we just have to make a choice now between LOVE and fear
the masses only have to know. that history as we are taught, is the true history of our ancestors. but it is only so, because our ancestors followed this system and doctrine that has been put in place to benefit the few at the top of the pyramid, and that is not the best system for us as humans to express our true nature.

I wouldn't want anyone getting the wrong idea here. How long ago was this?
You 'might' get a home if you are an immigrant as they 'do' have priority. I know this for a fact. Decent neighbourhood is very questionable. As for having a holiday... maybe if you have multiple kids as they seem to be the way you 'increase' your dole earnings but as a single male you are extremely skilled if you can survive at all on it. I'd guess single females also.
I'm not on the dole now... but have been. Might have to get on it again as I'm in the so called 'Poverty trap' I'm earning enough to replace dole, but not enough to cover benefits such as Council Tax. How ridiculous is that?
My goodness, Australia really is 'The Lucky Country'. I think I might just stay here :p

Just lately been feeling tired and energy struck.
How about you guys?
I've been off sick for a couple of days with headaches and aching legs.
I do a standard 40-hour week, but I'm a hospital porter so I work shifts which is pretty exhausting. It must keep me fit, but it's stressful at times.
I do enjoy my job and I'm proud to be a porter, but I often get fed up and just want to go off and do something else. You're quite right: The plan is to keep us "Busy, busy, busy. Back on the farm with the other animals" as Silent Weapons for a Quiet War says, so we've no time or energy to think and be creative. They want us struggling to survive one day to the next; so we stay in slavery and never change things. I sometimes talk about conspiracies and spirituality to my fellow porters and they just scoff and say "Quit dreaming! Get in the real world! You've got repsonsibilities"
The solution is for us to take control of our workplace. I'm not talking about a Marxist takeover by a workers' state, but of us setting up workers' cooperatives, companies in which everyone who works there is an equal shareholder. Workers' cooperatives are more efficient and productive and people in them are far happier. They get better pay and work shorter hours. I think one day all industry and services will be provided by workers' cooperatives. Hope so! :)

I have so been in those states where all you have time to do is sleep when you are not working.
Nowadays I have so much energy and my energy levels are completely steady, there are NO peaks and troughs.
How you ask??
NO sugar or any food that contains high amounts of sugar (Sugary drinks or chocolate). Your body takes a lot of energy converting this, dealing with it and disposing of it.
NO coffee or "Energy drinks" - they cause massive peaks and troughs in your metabolism which take a significant amount of energy to deal with once again.
NO microwaved foods, 70-90% of nutrition is removed by microwaving any food. Try this experiment. heat water in a cup with the microwave, let it cool and give it to a plant. Then sit back and watch that plant die within the next few weeks.
You are Organic, eat organically (salads, raw veg and fruit), the difference is staggering, the energy is constant and linear.
But the most important part of any day is WATER, you are 80% water, proper hydration fends off headaches, tiredness and illness.
Enjoy
Nifty:D

some of you guys are 'lucky' (i suppose) to have a dole to fall back on, if i lose my job, i get paid out 50% of my monthly pay for 3 months, after that, i'm on my own.
i think in this system, where you have to work, the best you can hope for is to find something that you love doing, and they don't always have to be great jobs, i loved washing dishes, not very ambitious, but i got more than enough time to think and when i went home i went home, no dishes calling me in the middle of the night, no standby, and i earned enough to get by.
in this system, we take what we can get, sad but true, so try and at least spend your mind numbingly boring hours at work doing something thats not totally crap.
