A 6.7 magnitude quake has hit off the coast of Honshu, Japan. At this time I have no details on possible human effect.

Also, just a couple of days after the Indonesian volcano Gamkanora erupted causing the evacuation of over 9000 people, Ol Doinyo volcano in Tanzania has had two quakes of 5.4 and 4.7 at shallow depth which could indicate an eruption soon.

Sorry, this is just me reporting, no articles on the web yet about the events. If white tourists are not effected, there probably won't won't be any articles written. Not prejudice, just fact LOL

I'd be happy to do an earth changes thread here in David's forum, but someone should create an "earth and space" section.

Hi harbingers_kiss

I was just reading about the earthquake in Japan as one of my guys from work is travelling there at the mo (luckily unscathed!)

Just a thought, but how about creating the "Earth Changes" thread you mention in the Planetary Change forum???

Glad your friend is fine by the way. I think the worst of it would have been for people traveling by boat. Not sure what it did to the coast.

Just started the thread in the Planetary section and gave you credit LOL I'm such a dweeb !

Btw. a typhoon had just passed over Japan this weekend before these earthquakes. Latest research suggests that typhoons and earthquakes are connected. The extreme low pressure of a typhoon relieves downward pressure on land areas that it passes over, allowing certain types of earthquakes to happen more easily. This is a safety-valve preventing larger earthquakes from happening (so I guess we should be grateful for typhoons/ cyclones). Not so happy about the nuclear reactor leak (http://www.cnn.com/2007/WORLD/asiapcf/07/16/japan.quake.ap/index.html), though...
