View Full Version : 'Sweet' Dreams

I've been doing a small experiment lately.
Since many a night, I wasn't dreaming at all. Just, go to sleep, blank, wake up.
And then I read somewhere that there is a connection between dreams and sugar intake. And it was that if you have any artificial sugar in your system at all, while sleeping, your dreams will be vague and very short, if it doesn't cut out your dreams at all. And that, the more sugar in your system, the vaguer the dreams, and the more chance of not even dreaming at all.
I myself usually have some type of dessert, or something from the local convenient store that is chock full of sugar at night-time. Which I now realize was 100 percent of the problem with my dreaming.
I cut out a majority of my normal sugar intake for the next week. And stopped eating anything with sugar after 6 P.M.
WOW the difference started about the third night of my experiment.
I had such a vivid and profound dream, at least, based on the nothingness I had been experiencing during sleep. And ever since, they have gotten even more vivid to the point where I can control myself in the dreams completely.
AND TO THINK, THEY GET US HOOKED ON SUGAR WHILE WE ARE YOUNG CHILDREN. ALMOST SICK HOW BAD THIS DRUG IS, AND YET ALL OF THESE SUGARY PRODUCTS ARE ENCOURAGED AMONGST THE YOUNG ONES.
Not that natural fructose intake from fruits and such aren't very beneficial.
It's the manufactured stuff that's harmful and almost demeaning to the mind and body.
ARGH
LESS SUGAR EQUALS A CLEARER MIND.
MY OPINION, BUT GOD DAMN I CAN ONLY COME TO THAT CONCLUSION.

Ahhh, that could be why I don't dream that often. I tend to eat a lot of shite. Choco bars and usually a cup of coffee with some sugar after 6. I think I'll stop eating sugar and see how it goes.
Thanks for the info!

it's not the easiest thing in the world to do.
but i'm more than happy to share this. because being off of sugar for some time now. i'm realizing that it was such an addictive controlling drug. the sugar high, the awesome taste, the crash afterwards.
not to mention that i personally believe that dreams are way more important than we can comprehend at this point in life.
this is an interesting take on dreams
Joe Rogan Talks About DMT (Link)
sparingly though, sugar i can say isn't terrible. because i'm not one to talk about not occasionally using what they call 'illegal' drugs. lol.
best wishes soglad.
you've just taken one more step toward the right.

wow this is so interesting
in recent years my dream life has become much more interesting, lucid and easier to remember
now i'm wondering if this is something to do with that in the last six years i have hardly eaten sugar as such just the natural fructose sugars etc in fruit and superfoods
i have a sweet tooth and make my own healthy chocolate with raw cacao powder and cacao butter and lucuma and goji berry extract etc and other similar treats so doesn't feel like purgatory at all but doing this way makes me feel more awake - even when i'm asleep
would be interesting if lots of people reported on this.

yet science proved aparently were just strands of complex sugars. does that make us regulated by SALT? and futher still does compounding your being with external sugars. none which will ever be matched to your personal sugar chains. be just like a painting your being in layers of imitation and false substitues for the real thing?

Hi herebynightfall
That's interesting to learn & I'm gonna have to try it now myself. I've got my Celtic Sea Salt so cutting down on sugar would be the next logical step, cool

Well, when people get too much into eating, or what to eat, is because they are subtituting it for love. I read a very interesting article by Mystic Osho from India, on this:
"If a person is eating more it is a symptom of a certain undercurrent. Food is always a substitute for love. People who don't love, who somehow miss a life of love, start eating more--it is a love subtitute.
When a child is born, his first love and his first food are the same thing--the mother. So there is a deep association between food and love; in fact food comes first and then love follows. First the child eats the mother, then by and by he becomes aware that the mother is not just food---she loves him too. (....)
And with food things are simple because food is dead. You can go eating as much as you want---food cannot say no. If you stop eating , the food cannot say that you are offending it. One remains a master with food.
But in love you are no longer the master. Another being enters your life. You are no longer independent, and that's the fear. Ego wants to be independent and ego won't allow you to love; it will only allow you to eat more. If you want to love then the ego has to be dropped.
It is not a question of food----food is simply symptomatic.Have you watched? ---if you are happy you don't eat much. If you are sad you eat too much.People think that when they are happy they eat too much, but that is absolute nonesense. A happy person feels so fulfilled that he feels no space inside. An unhappy man goes on throwing food into himself."
Maybe this is a
bit off- the subject, but found it interesting

thanks chandrakavi, very interesting...:)
So true its not just eating when we are down im sure like me the majority of us crave something sweet like chocolate or similar sugary foodstuffs .Vicious circle it increases our anxiety and makes us over tired so we eat more to feel energised .I dont do dairy now i eat 86% dark chocolate gotta get onto raw chocolate next .I have friends who bake vegan cakes delicious . Food is a major important part of our lives we need to get back to as pure a food intake as we can .Like has been said on here its all part of disrupting our natural cycles and keeping us detached .I used to record my dreams everynight but now i just recal them but i find its more difficult when im not conciously writing them down each morning .It takes time to wean off sugary foods they are such an integral part of our diets in the west .The difficulty is the expense of organic foods etc :D
I must now make a definate effort to remove as much sugar as possible now thanks for the post very interesting :D

I've been going to a store called 'Trader Joes'
Organic and healthy food for cheaper than usual prices. Almost like a Costco.
Buy in bulk for cheap. It's in northern New Jersey. And great quality stuff.

Hi chandrakavi
Very interesting post & makes perfect sense to me, especially the not eating as much when you're happy / more when you're sad part :)

I stopped all sugar intake 2 days ago, and even on the first day i noticed the difference.
No tiredness in the daytime whatsoever....ability to focus and concentrate increased more than ever....no mood swings....no irritability....increased 'happy moods'....more motivation....feeling 'levelled-out' all day and night....also my dreams have become very clear too...and waking up in the morning i do not feel tired like most mornings...i feel fresh....it's like being a child again...
I think giving up sugar is one of the best things I have done in my life, I should have tried this years ago....but you know how it is....sweet things are one of life's 'pleasures' (or so our brain temporarily 'thinks')
Next step is to have the mercury fillings removed.

I would use white sugar only when I drank tea, but now have substituted with raw honey or organic and natural brown sugar. Better difference!

This is such an interesting topic.
I don't normally eat sugar (Im on this low carb diet thing which doesn't allow me) and I have really interesting, vivid and sometimes lucid dreams, which are amazing. I sometimes look forward to going to sleep :p Although Ive always dreamed I don't really have a sweet tooth and havent really ever sat eating chocolate in the evening. If I did it would normally be mid afternoon when I got tired at work.
My bf, who eats far too much sugar and will always have tea and something extremely sweet before going to sleep, never dreams, or at least can't remember them.
I really believe dreams are important for our psyche, so Im gonna tell him all about the not eating sugar before bed theory and see what happens.
