Church in payout deal

The Catholic Church in Los Angeles has reached a financial deal with more than 500 people alleging sexual abuse by priests, the plaintiffs' lawyer says.

The deal, said to be for $660m (£324m), has yet to be approved by a judge.


Just goes to show the kind of wealth the church have while preaching about poverty. I wonder how many Sunday collections $660m is for the church of LA. I bet it's wonderful to know that the money you've been giving the church all those years had gone to pay off all the victims of catholic paedophile priests.

The Pope doesn't address these issues on a Wednesday morning does he?

My father in law spoke of a very rough family from when he was a kid and said no-body would ever cross them, but that as soon as the local priest came down the street, they had kettle on, bowing and scraping to him, giving him their wages......it beggars belief how people could behave this way to someone, who, at the end of the day is only a man. They were petrified of him. What sort of hold do these people have, it is unnatural?

On a personal level, whilst I may admire other people for their work or contribution to something close to my heart, I could never worship someone that was skin and bone just like me. Mind you, I haven't had the privilage of being brainwashed by them like so many millions of poor misguided people!!
