Scientists have discovered how to “read” minds by scanning brain activity and reproducing images of what people are seeing — or even remembering.
Researchers have been able to convert into crude video footage the brain activity stimulated by what a person is watching or recalling.
The breakthrough raises the prospect of significant benefits, such as allowing people who are unable to move or speak to communicate via visualisation of their thoughts; recording people’s dreams; or allowing police to identify criminals by recalling the memories of a witness.
However, it could also herald a new Big Brother era, similar to that envisaged in the Hollywood film Minority Report, in which an individual’s private thoughts can be readily accessed by the authorities.
Earlier this year, Jack Gallant and Thomas Naselaris, two neurologists from the University of California, Berkeley, managed to 'decode' static images seen by the person from activity in the brain's visual cortex. Last week Gallant and Shinji Nishimoto - another neurologist - went one step further by revealing that it is possible to decode signals generated in the brain by moving scenes.
In an experiment which has yet to be peer reviewed, Gallant and Nishimoto, using functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) technology, scanned the brains of two patients as they watched videos.
A computer programme was used to search for links between the configuration of shapes, colours and movements in the videos, and patterns of activity in the patients’ visual cortex.
It was later fed more than 200 days’ worth of YouTube internet clips and asked to predict which areas of the brain the clips would stimulate if people were watching them.
Finally, the software was used to monitor the two patients’ brains as they watched a new film and to reproduce what they were seeing based on their neural activity alone.
Remarkably, the computer programme was able to display continuous footage of the films they were watching — albeit with blurred images.
In one scene which featured the actor Steve Martin wearing a white shirt, the software recreated his rough shape and white torso but missed other details, such as his facial features.
Another scene, showing a plane flying towards the camera against a city skyline, was less successfully reproduced. The computer recreated the image of the skyline but omitted the plane altogether.
“Some scenes decode better than others,” said Gallant. “We can decode talking heads really well. But a camera panning quickly across a scene confuses the algorithm.
“You can use a device like this to do some pretty cool things. At the moment when you see something and want to describe it to someone you have to use words or draw it and it doesn’t work very well.
“You could use this technology to transmit the image to someone. It might be useful for artists or to allow you to recover an eyewitness’s memory of a crime.”
Such technology may not be confined to the here and now. Scientists at University College London have conducted separate tests that detect, with an accuracy of about 50%, memories recalled by patients.
The discoveries come amid a flurry of developments in the field of brain science. Researchers have also used scanning technology to measure academic ability, detect early signs of Alzheimer’s and other degenerative conditions, and even predict the decision a person is about to make before they are conscious of making it.
Such developments may have controversial ramifications. In Britain, fMRI scanning technology has been sold to multinational companies, such as Unilever and McDonald’s, enabling them to see how we subconsciously react to brands.
In America, security agencies are researching the use of brain scanners for interrogating prisoners, and Lockheed Martin, the US defence contractor, is reported to have studied the possibility of scanning brains at a distance.
This would allow an individual’s thoughts and anxieties to be examined without their knowledge in sensitive locations such as airports.
Russell Foster, a neuroscientist at Oxford University, said rapid advances in the field were throwing up ethical dilemmas.
“It’s absolutely critical for scientists to inform the public about what we are doing so they can engage in the debate about how this knowledge should be used,” he said.
“It’s the age-old problem: knowledge is power and it can be used for both good and evil.”

In the movie I Robot, a supercomputer takes control of the Earth to stop humans destroying the planet, but Homo sapien Will Smith saves the day for his - and our - kind.
Is the idea of computers wresting control from us impossible? Will machines one day overtake our intelligence and become our masters?
Right now, there's no contest - our brains are hundreds of times faster than the biggest supercomputers.
We've got about 100 billion neurones with more than 100,000 kilometres of interconnections - in computer terms that gives us a memory capacity of 100 million megabytes.
And our brains are getting bigger. Over the last two million years the brain has tripled in size. The growth was almost all in an area we call the neocortex - the area of the brain where we think, plan, and make decisions. And the bigger the brain became, the smarter we got. Spurts in brain size allowed us to use tools, develop language and social interaction, engage in agriculture and build civilisations. You don't get any of that from one of those beige boxes.
So how could we possibly think machines could ever outsmart us?
Well, the long term trends could be in their favour rather than ours, some scientists speculate.
Have our Brains done their dash?
The human brain has gone through extraordinarily rapid growth, yes. But there is a limit to how much bigger it can grow, argues Michel A. Hofman from the Netherlands Institute for Neuroscience. In a paper Brain evolution in hominids; are we at the end of the road? Hofman sets out some biological limits to brain size:
* The human brain gobbles up an extraordinary amount of energy. It only takes up two per cent of our body weight, but uses 20-25 per cent of our energy intake - far more than any other organ. The more the brain grows, the more energy and nutrients it would take away from other vital organs, to the point where it would start to impact on our ability to survive.
* Large brains cause wiring problems. The bigger the brain, the longer nerve pathways between different parts of the brain will get. Transmission times slow down, and it won't be able to process information as fast.
* Finally, as the cortex grows, it crowds out other vital structures in the brain, like the brainstem, midbrain and cerebellum. Eventually it would get too big for the rest of the body to support.
Hoffman says the brain could probably double its present size, but not much more. And that size increase would be the end of the road for Homo sapiens, in terms of brain evolution.

Meanwhile, the processing power of computers is increasing exponentially, doubling every two years!
Hans Moravec from the Robotics Institute of Carnegie Mellon University has calculated that the human brain's current processing capacity of 100 trillion instructions per second is likely to be surpassed by computers by 2030.
As they store more and more knowledge, computers will take over more and more of our functions. They'll replicate many of our brain pathways, perhaps evolving and learning themselves, maybe eventually even becoming self aware and conscious like the supercomputer in I Robot.
But the end of natural evolution for the human brain doesn't mean we have reached the limits of intelligence.
Our intelligence will continue to grow, argues Hoffman. But further advances won't come from nature. They'll come from alliances of the brain with technology.
The brains of the future
Predicting the future of human intelligence with certainty is difficult without veering off into the realms of science fiction.
But one person who's prepared to make some very radical predictions is Ian Pearson, a futurist at British Telecom.
He argues that our 'brains' will develop in a series of stages. The first step will be brain modification through drugs or, more likely, genetic engineering. Nerve transmission speeds are agonisingly slow compared to electronic circuits for example.

Perhaps we could improve the brain's performance by improving the existing circuitry - genetically engineering nerves to transmit impulses much faster. Transmission of impulses across synapses - the nerve junctions - could also be sped up.
Humans with a modified brain would constitute a new human species, which Pearson calls Homo optimus.
Have we met before?
Pearson says this could only go so far - there would still be limits to the brain's efficiency. The advance of the machines will begin to outpace us.
So as not to fall behind, we'll have to integrate more closely with machines, he says.
A few years ago, UK physicist Stephen Hawkings expressed concerns along these lines in an interview with German magazine, Focus. He predicted that Homo sapiens would have to genetically engineer themselves so as to be able to interface with artificial intelligence - or risk being enslaved by it.
We're already going down that path, argues Pearson.
"We now have silicon chips which can interface directly to human nerve cells. Various cybernetic prostheses and other extensions to the body are in development. Others have demonstrated that thoughts can be detected and recognised, even without physical contact with the body. It won't be long before a computer can interface directly to a human, producing artificial senses and reading the person's thoughts."
This new species too will have a name - Homo hybridus. Eventually though, it will face a problem - the carbon based parts are perishable. It will continually have to regenerate or replace the carbon parts, at great expense and loss of productivity. One hundred per cent silicon models will be more long lasting and will replace Homo hybridus.
Homo machinus - the new machine species - will have advantages Homo sapiens never dreamed of, says Pearson. It will be able to make copies of its mind - a backup in case of accident. It will become immortal: even if its android body wears out, its mind can be stored and then transferred to a suitable replacement android body. Death will be just a memory of a primitive past.
Pearson expects that in the beginning many humans will resist these changes for religious or ethical reasons. Or perhaps they'll have fond memories of how sex was in the old days. They'll try to opt out and remain as Homo Sapiens. But they'll fall so far behind, they'll be useless in the new societies and be relegated to the status of pets. They'll die out early on, just as our modern ancestors, the Cro Magnons, replaced the Neanderthals.

But it won't be all smooth sailing for our mechanical counterparts - machines are going to run up against problems.
There are big advantages to carbon - after all, life evolved based on carbon, not silicon. Its thousands of biochemical processes make its creatures light, powerful, flexible, mobile, adaptable, self reproducing and self healing in the event of damage.

The human brain has attributes the machines may never have - imagination, creativity and lateral thinking.
Human brains have a property called 'plasticity', which means they can change and adapt very quickly in response to changes in their external environment, argue science writer Dorion Sagan and brain theorist John Skoyles in their book Up From Dragons: The Evolution of Human Intelligence.
How the human brain does this we don't really know, but it seems to involve adaptations of existing brain structures rather than developing new structures - finding smarter ways of using existing neural pathways, synapses and chemical transmitters, storing information in different ways - inventing writing and books for instance. It's one reason our culture and knowledge have exploded in the last ten thousand years, despite no increase in brain size over that time.
Perhaps our brains will be able to outwit the machines and make hybrids unnecessary.
After all, it was the Will Smith character who triumphed by disconnecting the supercomputer in I Robot, not the other way round. The same goes for Frank Bowman when he disconnected Hal in 2001: A Space Odyssey. (Admittedly, these examples were fictional).
Either way, the clash between mind and machine is way off into the future. Right now, it's the human brain that rules, OK? And it's the here and now that's important.
But just in case, keep an eye on your PC. It might have its eye on you.

As part of the U.S. Navy's investigation into futuristic nonlethal weaponry, the Sierra Nevada Corporation is building a microwave energy pulse gun that can produce a painful screaming sound inside a person's head from a long distance away. The inescapable sound, which is inaudible to untargeted bystanders, can be set to irritate, nauseate or even incapacitate people and animals that lie within range. Future applications may include crowd control, military use and even shopping mall security, provided it proves safe from permanent side effects. The science behind it also has the potential to give hearing to certain deaf people, or even projecting voices into peoples' heads.
The Sierra Nevada corporation has signed a contract with the U.S. Navy to follow up on successful recent testing of a non-lethal crowd control weapon that uses microwaves to project high-intensity sounds in the heads of targets, according to New Scientist magazine.
The MEDUSA (Mob Excess Deterrent Using Silent Audio) system makes use of the well-established Microwave Auditory Effect, in which microwave stimulation causes parts of the ear around the cochlea to expand thermally, which is interpreted as sound by the brain. The effect is a sound that appears to originate in the target's head, and can't be heard by anyone not directly in the beam's path.
This is not to be confused with Raytheon's Active Denial System, another crowd control weapon in development which uses a similar directed energy beam to cause unbearable but non-damaging heat pain in the top few layers of a target's skin.
Because MEDUSA's sound doesn't vibrate the eardrum itself, and thus the eardrum is not exposed to the damage potential that loud acoustic noise produces, traditional noise level limits don't have to apply with the MEDUSA system. So it's possible to dial in any level of sonic deterrent from mildly annoying up to physically and mentally incapacitating levels that the target has no way of blocking out of their head.
The MEDUSA system has the ability to be aimed at specific targets, multiple targets or even cover large areas with a broad beam, which will make it an effective security deterrent for the perimeters of protected areas. The same technology, on a smaller scale, could be used as an invisible sonic scarecrow to keep certain areas free from birds, as birds appear to respond to very low levels of microwave audio.
There are certain side effects - in 1961 testing of the first Microwave Auditory Effect system, Allen H. Frey noted dizziness, headaches and pins and needles in his subjects - and little is known about what further effects might occur when power levels are turned up to an incapacitating level. The potential for serious neural damage can't be ignored when you're effectively microwaving the inside of somebody's head - and if it does turn out to be lethal, the research may continue down that path and the technology may end up being used as a microwave death ray.
Beyond being used to generate an annoying high-pitched scream, the Microwave Auditory Effect has shown itself to hold interesting peacetime possibilities if it can be proven safe. By modulating the projected frequency, Sharp and Grove showed in 1975 that it's possible to "plant" voices, music and other sounds directly into the head.
Because the eardrum is not involved in the transmission of this sound, there have been hopes that patients with outer ear problems might be able to listen to music or voices through microwave transmission. On a more sinister note, it's easy to see how one might abuse the ability to direct "voices" straight into a person's head, as would appear to be feasible using the device described in this 2002 patent.
Still, the MEDUSA system is expected to be testable within one year and a mobile deployment unit built within another 18 months. And if it can be proven not to be harmful, it could be deployed within a few years in warzones, protest situations and shopping malls.

"Gentlemen! We have called you together to inform you that we are going to overthrow the United States government." So begins a statement being delivered by Gen. Carl W. Steiner, former Commander-in-chief, U.S. Special Operations Command.
At least the voice sounds amazingly like him.
But it is not Steiner. It is the result of voice "morphing" technology developed at the Los Alamos National Laboratory in New Mexico.
By taking just a 10-minute digital recording of Steiner's voice, scientist George Papcun is able, in near real time, to clone speech patterns and develop an accurate facsimile. Steiner was so impressed, he asked for a copy of the tape.
Steiner was hardly the first or last victim to be spoofed by Papcun's team members. To refine their method, they took various high quality recordings of generals and experimented with creating fake statements. One of the most memorable is Colin Powell stating "I am being treated well by my captors."
"They chose to have him say something he would never otherwise have said," chuckled one of Papcun's colleagues.

The "Holographic Projector" is described in a classified Air Force document as a system to "project information power from space ... for special operations deception missions."

With audio joining the mix, it is not only journalists but also privacy advocates and the conspiracy-minded who will no doubt ponder the worrisome mischief that lurks in the not too distant future.
"We already know that seeing isn't necessarily believing," says Dan Kuehl, "now I guess hearing isn't either."

The defense department has begun to solicit companies interested in developing the technology, which it says should be able to offer children "a simulated conversation with a parent about generic, everyday topics. For instance, a child may get a response from saying 'I love you' or 'I miss you' or 'Good night.'" The software will require voice recognition and must be customizable for individual families, and be able to give "the illusion of a natural (but simple) interaction."
"The children don't quite understand mommy or daddy being deployed," explained Commander Russell Shilling, a Navy psychologist overseeing the program. "That kind of interaction - the need to say goodnight or to continue to feel connected to a parent - is very important."
The technology may be cutting-edge, but the concept is also undeniably game-like. "We are looking for innovative applications that explore and harness the power of advanced interactive multimedia computer technologies to produce compelling interactive dialogue between a service member and their families via a PC or web-based application using video footage or high-resolution 3-D rendering," the solicitation says. The military is accepting submissions from companies until January 14, after which it plans to award three contracts of up to $100,000 each to begin work on the project.

Characters3 The Voice of God weapon — a device that projects voices into your head to make you think God is speaking to you — is the military’s equivalent of an urban myth. Meaning, it’s mentioned periodically at defense workshops (ironically, I first heard about it at the same defense conference where I first met Noah), and typically someone whispers about it actually being used. Now Steven Corman, writing at the COMOPS journal, describes his own encounter with this urban myth:
At a government workshop some time ago I head someone describe a new tool that was described as the “voice of Allah.” This was said to be a device that would operate at a distance and would deliver a message that only a single person could hear. The story was that it was tested in a conflict situation in Iraq and pointed at one insurgent in a group, who whipped around looking in all directions, and began a heated conversation with his compatriots, who did not hear the message. At the time I greeted this story with some skepticism.
Is there any basis to this technology? Well, Holosonic Research Labs and American Technology Corporation both have versions of directed sound, which can allow a single person to hear a message that others around don’t hear. DARPA appears to be working on its own sonic projector. Intriguingly, Strategy Page reports that troops are using the Long Range Acoustic Device as a modified Voice of God weapon:
It appears that some of the troops in Iraq are using "spoken" (as opposed to "screeching") LRAD to mess with enemy fighters. Islamic terrorists tend to be superstitious and, of course, very religious. LRAD can put the "word of God" into their heads. If God, in the form of a voice that only you can hear, tells you to surrender, or run away, what are you gonna do?
And as Corman also notes, CNET recently wrote about an advertisement in New York for A&E’s TV show Paranormal State, which uses some of this technology. Beyond directed sound, it’s long been known that microwaves at certain frequencies can produce an auditory effect that sounds like it’s coming from within someone’s head (and there’s the nagging question of classified microwave work at Brooks Air Force Base, that the Air Force stubbornly refuses to talk about).
That brings us back to the Voice of God/Allah Weapon. Is it real or bogus? In one version — related to me by another defense reporter — it’s not just Allah’s voice — but an entire holographic image projected above (um, who decides what Allah looks like?).
Does it exist? I’m not sure, but it’s funny that when you hear it brought up at defense conferences, no one ever asks the obvious question: does anybody think this thing will actually convince people God is speaking to them? I’m thinking, not.

One of DARPA’s programs is called—brace yourself—Hybrid Insect Microelectromechanical Systems (HI-MEMS). So what on earth does that mean? As the HI-MEMS program says on its web site, their goal is to develop “tightly coupled machine-insect interfaces by placing micro-mechanical systems inside the insects during the early stages of metamorphosis.”
In other words, DARPA is trying to fuse living insects with tiny electronic implants. Why?
“The goal of the MEMS, inside the insects, will be to control the locomotion by obtaining motion trajectories either from GPS coordinates, or using RF, optical, ultrasonic signals based remote control. The control of locomotion will be investigated using several approaches. Step 1: combine living insect with tiny electronic chip.
Step 2: Figure out how to make that chip control the insect’s movement.

Well that’s certainly intriguing, but just how feasible are these goals? It turns out researchers have made some surprising advances.
At Cornell University’s Laboratory for Intelligent Machine Systems, among other labs, electrical engineers have not only been able to control the wing movements of hawk moths using direct electrical stimulation, they have created devices that harvest the energy produced by the moth’s own vibrations during flight. If these devices could be improved to power the kind of very tiny GPS sensors, cameras and microphones that would be useful for military surveillance, the moths could be sent out as self-sufficient spies, easily accessing areas humans never could. I was thinking more of an actual heating effect on water vapour in the air which could generate sound.
It would probably involve a powerful source far away (or high up), and would target a wide area.
I concentrated on the sound as an experiment, and my leg and toes cramped up. I had to focus my will to get my toe back under my own control, so whatever it is, it's probably best to focus on something else.

Well everything has an effect on everything else, the question is how much.
They would need to soften targets up towards what they're doing, otherwise, low power signals comparable with the light from a star would be drowned out under all the radio waves and mobile phone mast signals.
I think that the gang stalking thing is largely about getting people where the stalkers want them, in terms of situation, vulnerability, mislplaced trust, and feelings of helplessness.
I stood outside my house for a while after it had rained, and some of the noises came from groups of cars driving through a cross roads over 300 feet away.
There would be at least three cars doing this at a time, and other cars would not make the same wierd noise /effect.
I think they are attacking a large part of the street, (and it has less effect on me than some other people) It might be connected to the mass suicide phenomenon in south Wales which can happen to people on the same street.

The first British servicewoman to die in the Afghanistan conflict was a member of the UK armed forces' psychological operations unit, it has been revealed. But what do "psy-ops" really involve?
The name suggests a mysterious netherworld of misinformation and mind control.
But military chiefs say that psy-ops - psychological operations - are a routine feature of modern conflict, as old as warfare itself.
The term replaced a phrase that had even murkier connotations - propaganda.
However, the Ministry of Defence defines psy-ops simply as a way of getting "the enemy, or other target audience, to think and act in a way which will be to our advantage".
Leaflets dropped from aircraft, radio broadcasts, loudspeaker vans and face-to-face conversations with civilians are all devices used by armed forces to win hearts and minds or damage opponents' morale.
'Devious stuff'
Col Bob Stewart, who commanded the British peacekeeping forces in Bosnia, made use of psy-ops techniques when he served as an intelligence officer in Northern Ireland during the Troubles.

"White is when you tell things as they are, while black is putting more devious stuff about.
"The value of psy-ops can be immense - but whatever you say must be believable, and preferably the truth."
Cpl Sarah Bryant, the first British servicewoman to be killed in the Afghanistan conflict, belonged to 15 (United Kingdom) Psychological Operations Group, a 70-strong unit based in Chicksands, Bedfordshire.
She spoke Pashtu, and it is thought she was involved in forging links with Afghan communities and monitoring Taleban radio traffic.
One former army officer who served in Iraq and the Balkans says she would have faced a tougher task than her predecessors in previous conflicts.
"In the Balkans we were able to hand out magazines and broadcast radio programmes," he recalls.
"But in much of Afghanistan you are dealing with people who have no access to TV, the internet, radio - they might not be able to read, either.

"So with civilians, you have to go and see them door-to-door. With the enemy, you are dealing with fighters who may well come from abroad, so everything you know about local culture might be no good."
Military historians date psy-ops back to the days of Alexander the Great and Ghenghis Khan, who would both deliberately spread rumours and misinformation ahead of battles to help subdue their enemies.
During the World War I, the British army air-dropped leaflets urging German troops to surrender.
In the 1940s, the Nazis tried to use broadcasts by the British traitor William Joyce - Lord Haw Haw - to undermine morale in the UK, while the Allies used radio broadcasts to get their message across to occupied Europe.
Some 29 million leaflets were dropped by coalition forces during the 1991 Gulf War, with some estimates suggesting that 40% of all surrenders and desertions were due to psy-ops tactics.
But after the invasion of Iraq in 2003, psychological warfare truly came into its own.
American Pte Lynndie England, jailed after she was photographed alongside Abu Ghraib prisoners in humiliating and stressful positions, claimed the images had been set up by a psy-ops unit to spread fear among inmates - a charge strenuously denied by the United States military.
But early in the conflict, the US Psychological Operations Company acknowledged that they had pioneered bizarre methods of interrogation such as exposing unco-operative prisoners for extended periods of time to full-blast music from rock group Metallica or children's TV programmes like Barney the Dinosaur.
'Sounds crazy'
Writer Jon Ronson revealed the often darkly comic nature of American psy-ops in his book The Men Who Stare At Goats.
But he warns that such techniques are no joke.
"The've had scientists working on a hologram of Allah, which they could project over a city," he says. "And then Allah says, 'America isn't bad.'
"It sounds crazy, but somebody in psy-ops will have determined that Barney the Dinosaur is an effective instrument of torture."
There is no suggestion that the British military have tried to develop anything quite so outlandish.
But as long as warfare persists, it appears that psy-ops will always be key components.

OFFICERS are suing their police force for illnesses allegedly caused by their radios.
They claim that radiation emissions from the Airwave police radio network has left them with a range of ailments including nausea, headaches and stomach aches.
Lancashire Police Authority is now seeking legal advice and speaking with its insurers over compensation claims brought by officers who claim the terrestrial trunked radio (TETRA) technology is not safe. Civil claims have been made against the force and the suppliers of the controversial equipment have since made changes to prevent “audio anomalies”.
The Constabulary has paid £20,000 to minimise the risk of future problems.
Airwave is the name of the system used by officers to contact each other via their TETRA radios. The Airwave equipment is supplied via the Home Office contract held jointly by Motorola, which provides the handsets, and O2, which operates the mobile communications network aspect.
Lancashire was the first force to pilot the new Airwave technology and TETRA radios in 2001. At the time, the federation’s local branch reported 176 users had gone sick. The Health and Safety Executive was called in but declared there was no link.
The Government spent £2.9billion introducing the system to the 53 forces in England, Scotland and Wales.

As an Electrical Engineer with many years of expertise in the radio frequency field, I have my own theories on the health issues on the use of handheld radio sets including phones. The problems associated with the exposure of human tissue to continuous radio waves where there is no heating of tissue continues to be an area of extensive study. Some studies point to the creation of tumors primarily in the brain and other studies have exactly the opposite opinion. My personal opinion on this is that if the exposure is kept low (perhaps the use of phones and radios for less than an hour of continuous use per day next to the head) the risk of cancer is relatively low. One should always be aware of the chance of risk however. I am talking about the subject of continuous radio fields however. This is the older type of phone or police radio. The new problem is with TETRA or with the newer digital mobile phones, where the signal is continually switched on and off at a particular frequency or the frequency changed at a certain rate. ( I am simplifying here to allow laymen to understand) The frequency at which the signal is switching is in the low audio range and this is what seems to be affecting our bodies. You don't need to be exposed to radio waves to realize how you can be affected. Many people were sensitive to the switching rate of the older fluorescent lights. These switched at the rate of the mains current and cause many people to feel sick or worse. Now that most of the fluorescent lights are switching at thousands of cycles per second most people aren't affected by them any more. (Old incandescent lights didn't have this problem because of the thermal inertia of the filaments kept them pretty well lit and the blink was pretty well impossible to view.) The low switching rate (below 100 cycles per second) of any device that the body can perceive through visual clues or through radio waves or audio seems to affect the body in ways we don't really understand or don't want to understand. A lot of money should be allocated by governments to study the problem.

I have been researching the effects of pulsed electromagnetic radiation as is TETRA for over 10 yrs, the trouble with this story is it states that police officers are sueing the police force because of the illnesses brought on by use of their new radios, it went on to state the ilnesses included nausea, headaches and stomach aches, what the report did not state was that polive officers have also got cancers, leaquemia, and tumours another illness was cancer of the throat and this happned to officers neil dring who died from this cancer.
And i know of other police officers and traffic wardens who also have cancers in the south wales area. what the police officers must realize is that they are not covered by the police force insurance if they developed any illness caused by TETTA, this was your own insurance groupt SWISS RE. who have declined your insurance if you are ill because of your new but deadly radios.

Of Course the Manufacturers of such radio equipment (INCLUDING MOBILE PHONES) will deny that there is any health risk.
Why ?? Its Financial isnt it.
I cannot use a mobile phone next to my head to make a "speech call" without experiencing numbness inside my temple afterwards and sometimes headache.
Therefore I do texts only at arms length.
In Years to come I suspect that there will be some serious illnesses within the modern Generation caused by such devices.
In addition a Radio Ham Friend of mine has had to give up the hobby through similar Radiation problems from the equipment.

yes it probably was based on some kind of research but there is no web site for the film not one that i can find and i would like to know some more wouldn't you?
There are always exceptions to the rule i actually heard my last flat mate telling my upstairs neighbour to walk backwards and forwards over and over again stomping he's feet over where i was sitting by mobile phone on speaker phone not realising i could hear everything he was saying of course he denied it like the sick fuck he was. Like all perps he was coward hiding behind the fact i couldn't prove it...what a lump of shit he was and they all are. Trouble is they think they are protected it would only take a few TI's to react in adverse way and then maybe the stalking would not seem so glamorous maybe that day will be soon who knows. It just shows what depths of deprivation human beings will go to when they think they will get away with something and how sick they will behave when they think there protected.

There was news article on the radio about a year ago in which a member of green peace was approached by undercover police in which she was asked to give information on or fellow members she recorded the conversation in which the undercover police said we have hundreds of harassment gangs through out the uk funny how no one picked up on it.

Forget the battlefield radios, the combat PDAs or even infantry hand signals. When the soldiers of the future want to communicate, they’ll read each other’s minds.
At least, that’s the hope of researchers at the Pentagon’s mad-science division Darpa. The agency’s budget for the next fiscal year includes $4 million to start up a program called Silent Talk. The goal is to “allow user-to-user communication on the battlefield without the use of vocalized speech through analysis of neural signals.” That’s on top of the $4 million the Army handed out last year to the University of California to investigate the potential for computer-mediated telepathy.
Before being vocalized, speech exists as word-specific neural signals in the mind. Darpa wants to develop technology that would detect these signals of “pre-speech,” analyze them, and then transmit the statement to an intended interlocutor. Darpa plans to use EEG to read the brain waves. It’s a technique they’re also testing in a project to devise mind-reading binoculars that alert soldiers to threats faster the conscious mind can process them.
The project has three major goals, according to Darpa. First, try to map a person’s EEG patterns to his or her individual words. Then, see if those patterns are generalizable — if everyone has similar patterns. Last, “construct a fieldable pre-prototype that would decode the signal and transmit over a limited range.”
The military has been funding a handful of mind-tapping technology recently, and already have monkeys capable of telepathic limb control. Telepathy may also have advantages beyond covert battlefield chatter. Last year, the National Research Council and the Defense Intelligence Agency released a report suggesting that neuroscience might also be useful to “make the enemy obey our commands.” The first step, though, may be getting a grunt to obey his officer’s remotely-transmitted thoughts.

this just pisses me off been caught under some type of mental house arrested while "others" try and handle the fuck up , slap me down every time i start sorting myself out.........they should of fucked of years ago...i would moved on long ago....this crap just pisses me off and i already knew the system croaked and fix and wouldn't`t wasted my time and resources.....

i don`t think once people realize about this tech and how it can stay invisible that I an going to be dumb enough to take advice or orders from it......after all I would be the visible one and labile for any action I did weather it was under instruction/control from the technology or not.

Although i am not stalked myself i suppose the best way to beat then is ignore them as it is the best thing to do with all targets of Gang stalking. There was news article on the radio about a year ago in which a member of green peace was approached by undercover police in which she was asked to give information on or fellow members she recorded the conversation in which the undercover police said we have hundreds of harassment gangs through out the uk funny how no one picked up on it.

As it ever occurred to you why they let films like control factor get made?
How many people who saw the film who are not TI's actually walked away from the film and thought it was true ..not many i would have thought. Yet the film showed victims of mind control with nose bleeds (have you ever had nose bleeds) it also showed them shaking when it was inflicted on them.... This appears to be misinformation wouldn't you agree...and what would be the point of that? Therefore my point is if no references were made in the film that it was true it will always be considered fake due to the false information which will never be backed up.

undercover police can infiltrate virtually any organisation they want and probably have done including gangs ..the gangs are allowed to carry on there normal day to day schedule including drug trafficking etc with the undercover police/secret services getting a portion of the takings. This money is used to sustain any costs the police may have to run the schemes such as Electronic Harassment and gang stalking and probably many more.
. have you ever wondered why the police sometimes ask the gang underworld for help..its because the gangs either help the situation giving information etc or the undercover police will make sure there the real gang members are set up at some point in the future. Therefore in reality everything is run by the secret police/secret services because if you don't play ball they will destroy you. They are all together working as one....maybe not in all cases at street level but certainly at a higher level. Everything is infiltrated everything is controlled.

This is total control of which there is no fighting back.
So we fought the German's in ww2 ...we publicly announced how we hated the Nazis's saying they were a terror organisation (which they were) and then we took there ideas and possibly there technology and use it against its own people using manipulation and lies to justify it's use.

in the film control factor ..it suggest copper is a shielding against it have you tried it?
they use copper wool in baseball caps. Copper paint suppose to work as well although its expensive i believe.

if you can make A =b3 then twist a7 in to b4 you might be getting somewhere..on the other hand if b3 only =a2 then c7 might come in to the equation...make sure the double length end is adjacent to the wall but with both ends facing Nja. There you have it a non contractual bio system = b7 on the micro scale. Don't use it all at once vaporisation is a common problem especially where the light is also a heat source

The impression i get after visiting many sites on EH/Gang stalking is that it's done by Devil worshippers. The same tactics are uses as the Devil himself would use.
Those are temptation.. lies.. manipulation but at no time actually forcing the victim to do anything illegal. Everything is taken from the victim including family and all possessions until the victim is destroyed. What sort of world are we creating? where fear and torture are used to destroy a victim because some sick person as a grudge against someone else...don't play there games don't allow yourself to become a pawn of the Devil rise above this sick game and become a respectable human being.. you could be next.

I would say this is pretty good advice and is from many TI`s inputs
obviously the more types you have the better,nothing worse than getting attacked hard and feeling helpless ,even if your countermessure/shield is not that effective you will feel better than you have something to try....
also be aware of spending huge amounts of money,they are very clever at tricking you ...make out a device/countermessure is more effective than it is ...so you buy more and only later find its not effective at all ....also sometimes you can look crazy with some of these things on (maybe why they work, you put them on, look crazy, they turn down the attack) so be carfull when you ware them and who infront off....plus having metal tin fiol splatered over your home can be seen as a sign to look for from mental health etc....as the post says there no real countermessure just ways to dampen it...

To completely shield from electronic harassment something like a military-grade electromagnetically shielded bunker costing perhaps hundreds of thousands of dollars may be the only thing that would accomplish this. Even industrial double-walled copper shielded screen rooms starting at $10,000 allow an estimated 10% of directed energy through. While completely shielding a room with sheet metal, metalized paint or paint with graphite in it are more doable options the vast majority have found that shielding just our bodies is the most practical. Shielding countermeasures that work well for me to counteract synthetic vibrational sensations are rubber mats, electrically grounded ground plane, electrically grounding myself, RF shielding fabric conditioner, ceramic tile, RF shielded baseball cap, the anti-tinnitus CD/headphone, and listening to talk radio.
I have an aluminum screen (metal kind used for window screen and screened doors) in bed under my fitted sheet connected to earth ground (third prong of an electrical outlet, or cold water metal plumbing supply line pipe under the sink, or a metal rod driven ~2' into the ground outside). Thus I'm sleeping on a ground plane that tends to "ground-out" some of the RF directed at me. Helping further is an electrically grounded wire touching my skin while in bed, also helping to "ground-out" the RF. (Next thing for me to try is an RF fabric sheet on top, or a sheet washed in RF shielding fabric conditioner. )
Under my aluminum screen in bed is a layer of 16"x16" (more commonly available in the 12"x12" size) ceramic flooring tile from Home Depot. Yes, for whatever reason, any size ceramic tile works surprisingly well for many TIs according to someone on the conference calls who got the idea after researching what the military uses to RF shield their secure bunkers. If you've never tried it, do so! For me it probably works better than most if not all of the countermeasures listed here. In addition to sleeping on a layer of them if you want you can lean one tile against your abdomen and another against your head.
Also while sleeping I listen to a CD developed by a TI named David Case of Case Electronics which is supposed to eliminate the tinnitus some TIs experience; for me it helps me relax and may eliminate some of the electronic brain linking/neural monitoring from the perps. The CD is free (last time I checked) but you have to buy high-frequency headphones that go up to at least 25kHz, such as KOSS TSC75 and KOSS PRO35/A from Radio Shack ($25-$40). Listening to the CD on conventional speakers didn't help. Since using this CD I no longer need to sleep with head shielding.
A fabric conditioner called AegisGuard LL, available from www.blockemf. com and www.aegisguard. com, added to the final rinse cycle of the laundry while in the washing machine, results in your clothes being RF shielded. I use it all the time and feel much more comfortable during the day as a result. It costs about $4 per laundry load. Based on my experience it is highly recommended if you can afford it!
A couple of TIs in my area have found relief via PEMF (pulsed electromagnetic field) therapy administered by alternative medicine practitioners. One TI says it has helped her tremendously as before the treatments she was near death and practically blind, and another TI who had one treatment said she felt significantly better for 3 days. PEMF treatments vary from ten dollars from donation-based services to several hundred dollars for a session.
As everyone's targeting is different no one countermeasure works for everyone so experiment to see which set of countermeasures work best for you. Try one thing at a time. Even if something doesn't have much effect at first try it for a week as the beneficial effects may not be apparent initially. If things get extremely bad then discontinue but be aware it takes a while to adjust and sometimes sticking it out for a few days proves beneficial in the long run.
Try inexpensive countermeasures first before spending a lot of money on on elaborate versions -- try $2 copper mesh before spending $30 for a shielded baseball cap, try $10 rubber mats before spending $150 for a blanket-sized sheet of rubber.
Once countermeasures are found that work, switching-off between two or more of them may increase their overall effectiveness. For example wear a shielded baseball cap during the day and listen to a jamming CD at night. Try moving shielding components around to a different spot each night. Reserve an especially effective countermeasure for use only in rare instances of unusually heavy attacks.
If you've never or only briefly experimented with shielding I would highly recommend doing so. You may feel only a little better at night but then during the day may feel more positive and may be able to get more accomplished. Before employing shielding countermeasures my life had a very nightmarish, hopeless feel to it. Now my outlook is much more positive and I have more energy during the day!

my heads screwed on that question.......I just try and expose the technology...I try not to think to much about why/what the technology is used for....ask me different times of the day and i would tell you a different reason.....i rather not open the debate ....could talk for weeks and atchieve nothing...
think about it phone,TV,RADIO,Print,internet can all deliver many types of media/program/content even be interactive .....I don`t think there is one type of "program" beamed at TI`s but many if you sort of understand

its called media feedback ...i get this bad...I tend not to watch the TV, or read the papers much...still trying to figure this out...think its priming the mind just before and messing with our brain as we interpet the information we sense...plus some clever "content" using stuff we assocate with .
you just have to watch darren brown and how he can manipulate/inflence somebody

so i am watching say ITV ....i start thinking of a subject for instance (birthday cakes) i turn over a channel sometimes the wrong one by mistake and there talking about Birthday cakes...Deca this means they have full control or or i am physic
