I just cant get over the fact that he powerd his house in the early 60's for free.

I would love to build one too, but to just make the rings, the machine that was needed to cut and make them, costs alot of money.

If you are looking to build one yourself, maybe look at the perendev motor, it is much easier and costs less.

Eaither way, I am willing to help anyone who is looking into this and would be happy to join a science team or start an academy.

If enough of us got together and started our own workshop or project, we could start something great.

Penguin, I'm sorry but I'm not so sure that this guy is what you think he is. I noticed some mentions in the Wiki article of him being convicted for electricity theft by bypassing the meter at his London home (which he claimed was powered by his SEG) in 1982 and of attempting to topple a nearby electricity pylon as an apparent act of revenge against the electricity company in 1983.

Nobody should take Wikipedia articles as a single source, of course, the references should always be followed up. For the two criminal convictions mentioned above, the Times newspaper is cited for the dates of 26 November 1982 (article headlined "Electricity thief risked blackout of the South") and 5 January 1983 ("Engineer jailed for vendetta")

I've checked the Times online archive and the articles on those dates with those headlines do exist. Unfortunately I have to pay to access the full articles, so instead I'll go to the public library and obtain printouts of them when I get the opportunity.

Having glanced through Searl's website, he's a bit twitchy when it comes to backing up his claims - high on defensive rhetoric, low on hard evidence. I'm afraid my "snake oil salesman" detector is bleeping on this one. His claim to be a professor looks dodgy too - he claims he was made one in 1994 "in Munich" but neglects to name the academic institution. You'd think he'd be only too pleased to give more detail about this proud moment...

As I say, I have still to check these Times reports in full. I can appreciate that some people will say perhaps Searl was deliberately persecuted and "fitted up" by the electricity company. OK, but then perhaps you need to ask why Searl (if it's the same guy) apparently covers this aspect of his past up?

We all want limitless free energy - but there are scamsters out there to make a fast buck out of us too. I haven't yet made my mind up about Searl, but it's not looking good in all honesty...

thanks to the OP who posted this...this is a spooky validation to a dream I had recently (I tend to get messages in dreams cos its the only time they can through to me admist all the mind chatter lol)

Basically I had a validation dream to what I already suspected. I dreamt that lots of 'cars' were flying not unlike in Back to the Future II - the message was that the Goverment already have this technology in place but are maleovantly concealing it along with other technologies.

Its sick isnt it?

I think looking at a few good 'science fiction' films are actually 'science secret fact' - look at the timelines of past films (such as terminater etc), they portray its all super tech for year 2000+ and yet we are still wearing jeans and watching petrol go up and up and up..

Thats why I wont buy a new car and make do with my old Gertie...what is the point in paying over the odds for an outdated model that doesnt fly?

Get this new shift in or whatever is gunna happen to the planet and the people, and get the truth out about everything, and then I will consider an iccle Smart Car that flies ;)

John Searls claim is not that this device purely runs on its self, but what it does is turn a small charge into a lagre charge, so your electric bill would be 5% a year of what it is now.

As a prominent entrepreneur, Branson gets approached by a lot of people seeking backing for their ideas. Same goes for Alan Sugar etc. If Branson was open-minded enough to at least meet Searl, good for him.

This does happen. Professor Eric Laithwaite was a friend of our family. Amongst other things, he worked on one of the earliest electronic computers (Manchester University's Mark One) and invented the linear motor, which led to the concept of magnetic levitation or "maglev".

He was a well respected engineer, he was professor of engineering at Imperial, but he became seen as a kook ever since he presented the idea of gyroscopes as a possible free energy source in his Faraday Christmas Lectures at the Royal Institution in the 1970s.

He did find in the end that gyroscopes do in fact act in accordance with Newton's Laws of Motion after all, but I'm all too aware how he was persecuted when he didn't toe the party line.

The thing is that extraordinary claims require extraordinary proof. You can view Searl's apparent criminal convictions for bypassing his electricity meter and criminal damage to a pylon as trumped-up charges if you like - but that doesn't explain the fact that he conveniently never seems to have a working device available for scrutiny whenever he's asked for one. Have you read the statements by Anders Heerfordt yet?

A big IF. Let's hope John Searl does show that it works in a public demonstration that is open to scrutiny (a video does not cut it, I'm afraid). If it was me, I would be only too pleased to prove it works right away, then set about getting those criminal convictions overturned and suing the arses off the electricity companies. Indeed they are. There's a couple of other flying car designs too.

Moller's Aerobot isn't for sale because they're still prototypes - they haven't gone into production yet. I'm sure you could buy one of the prototypes if you're prepared to pay megabucks.

There is a lot of red tape to overcome, though, to make it road-legal and air-legal. For example you'll need both a driving licence and a pilot's licence (the FAQ states that it would eventually be automated and you would therefore be a "passenger" - but I can't see that happening any time soon).
