Its very strange here in Thailand. Monday is yellow shirt day, to show you love the King. Tuesday is Pink shirt day to show you love the Queen, or is it wednesday for that?
Try walking in to a store to buy something and look for someone who works there, everyone is dressed in the same yellow shirt! Its mental as anything.
They are and I do mean this kindly, a simple people. I have lived amongst them for 6 years and so I have some experience of this.
From believing that it is the sun which warms the water so when you take a shower its best to wait till the sun comes up, when they have an electric heated shower fitted and working. To thinking dogs are humans which were bad in a former life so they have come back to suffer and therefore it matters not if you run over them.
Many Thais are ultra money focussed, if someone is rich, there is this 'they must be a good person because they have good Karma'...kind of thing. Makes me weep and pound my fists on the table.
That said, I spoke to a staunch Thaksin supporter last night and he agreed after a long chat, that Thaksin is a pussy for having these farmers dressed in Red doing his fighting for him.
We'll see what he has up his sleeve now.
Hee Hee. I found it so typically 'Thai' when as soon as the protest was over, the Thais were pouring bottled water on one of the western reporters for Songkran as the man was talking to the camera, with their big wide smiles.
That's Thailand for ya.
One moment, super Sanuk. The next second, crazy riots. Then Jai Yen Yen.
I love that about Thais. Very passionate, whatever the emotion, Kap. :D

it will be interesting to see whst they do next as this may be their new softly softly aproach to overthrowing non co-opritive country`s.
i think void is mixing up jai yen (cool heart) with jai yen yen (martial arts) but i agree with his/her view of thais passion and love of life.

Who knows. Plenty of Thais I've known, have expressed it as "Jai Yen Yen".
With the double 'yen' being for emphasis.
As in the scouse - "Cyarm down...cyarm down" :p
Perhaps the Thais secretly wanted to kick my ass? :D
