Hi,
Have been lurking here for a while and now have decided to make my first post here.
I recently had a discussion with a friend who's opinions/views/ideas/etc. I have good reason to have a lot of faith in. His dietry ideas if you wanna call them that did have me quite baffled and for the most part I wanted to post a brief summary here to have it discussed basically :) My friend and I are both young European males who consider ourselves very much searching for the truth with regards to anything and everything so I deeply appreciate any constructive posts made :)

Here it is!
...

Coconut oil is one of the only oils that isn't bad for you
Cheese is ok
Butter is ok
Grains, white rice and white pasta are to be the main source of energy
AVOID white sugar, high-fructose corn syrup, refined sweeteners, etc.
AVOID a lot of meat, or meat altogether
AVOID stimulants such as caffeine, nicotine, chocolate, etc.
AVOID fruits, vegetables, salads
AVOID seeds, nuts
CAN replace the starch carbs. with syrups, raisins, honey, etc. on occasion

...

since embarking on this extremely irregular diet my friend claims he feels healthier than he's ever been, with more energy than ever etc. which he claims is due to his very-high metabolism thanks to this diet.

Thoughts?

you cannot get a full spectrum of nutrients on butter cheese and refined grain. Maybe certain people wont get fat doing this "diet", but you are seting up a whole host of deficiencies and imbalances, which aint good

That's silly, in my opinion.

Surely a diet like that would only just keep you alive!

Thee are some things our bodies need that we can only get from sugars, meats and vegetables.

My philosophy is, if it isn't natural, I ain't eating it :)

yes I thought the same, what about all the vitamins etc. - I'm not sure if he takes supplements for that.

In my teens I 'developed' hay-fever and since I've stopped drinking milk (dairy milk) it seems my asthma (and perhaps my hay-fever too) has improved.

Anybody got any other ideas of what to try to avoid or try to eat regularly to help with asthma and/or hay-fever (grass pollen)?

This is not a healthy diet. Fruit and veg are the best things out there that you can eat.

Anyone who isn't sure. Eat mainly fruit and veg (especially green veg) for a couple of weeks. You will feel great.

A balanced diet can be judged by how you feel short and long term.

Your friend will start to get ill eventually if he keep this up. :(

This diet is mainly saturated animal fats and refined carbohydrates, he might as well live on MacDonalds :D
