on the surface he appears a harmless man doing risque comedy on topics other comedians wont cover, but then start to detect the vicious, spiteful undercurrent to his words, he makes it so blatent he has a lot of internal hatred towards certain sections of the population. then when you see the documentary you realise he is just old-fashioned, stupid and ignorant of modern times. just needs to do some drugs and grow up a bit spiritually.

He should be taken as a comedian and nothing else.

I would take him as a comedian, if he was funny, but he's not, so I don't.

I've seen him live on stage a number of times (albeit a few years back). He is extremely racist and sexist BUT one of the funniest stand ups I have ever seen, I was crying with laughter, all the way through.
I don't know if he is still as popular, and I did not see the programme this thread refers to, but I enjoyed his shows immensely. Another reason I found him such a good act is that he has such a wickedly naughty way about him, that makes him (IMO) such good entertainer.
I don't know if I would find him equally as funny today, as I have changed alot within myself over the past few years, but back then, he was excellent !

Yes, at least Bernard Manning had some wit.
Roy Chubby Brown is wrong if he thinks that spewing mindless vulgarity is funny. In truth, there's nothning imoral about making jokes about sex. So-called "dirty jokes", even the very dirtiest of all are great fun... if they are witty. Here's a good example: Jim Davidson claimed he had an explanation for why a vagina is nicknamed a "pussy". He said it looks a bit like a cat's face and it won't come when you want it to!:D

..and that sort of joke is in a far better league than Roy's? Funny how one "comic" can tell sexist jokes and everyone has the knives out and yet others that spout the same sort of stuff are "good chaps.." If I remember correctly, Jim is also racist with his jokes as well:rolleyes:
What's happened to Jim of late? I saw an interview with him a short while back and he came across as not a very nice person (I am being polite ) I can't exactly put my finger on it but there was something about him that was just plain evil! You could understand why he is not on TV anymore, his whole energy has changed, big time. I know he is a Mason and because of that you would have thought he would still be doing quite well in show business, but there are so many masons in show business, it makes no odds I suppose.
I do agree that Roy is living in the dark ages with his material (if in fact he is still doing the same stuff as years back?).

Jim Davidson is famous for being very pro-military and right-wing. He loves Margret Thatcher:rolleyes:. He's very un-PC but I've never heard him yet tell a joke I'd say is racist, in that it is openly degrading a certain race. The jokes about his character "Chalkie" for instance, were written with the help of a black friend of his.
What bugged me about Davidson was when he took part in the Children in Need charity event, but not Comic Relief because he only wanted to help British children:(. I wanted to ask him: Why is the life of a British child worth more than a child from another part of our planet. We're all human, we all share the same world. We're all worth saving and helping.

it doesn't matter if you find him funny he is still a comedian and a very good one. Its only those that take the world to seriously that find him offensive. The do gooders of this world like the pc brigade are the ones that have a problem because they make problems where none exist.

I doubt if many forum members will find Chubby offensive. I don't. I just don't think he's very funny; it's not my taste in humour. It's as simple as that.
