Iranian presidential candidate Mir-Hossein Moussavi criticizes administrative efforts to conceal domestic issues from the people.

Moussavi on Friday suggested that withholding information had become a "common procedure" in recent years, Tabnak reported.

"The Iranian people should not be kept in the dark from matters concerning the national budget, domestic currency, business agreements and oil deals," said the influential Reformist figure.

Moussavi, who is the member of the pro-reform National Confidence (Etemad-e-Melli) Party, officially decided on March 2 to enter the country's presidential race set to take place on June 12.

The last Iranian prime minister is well remembered in Iran for handling the economic aftermath of the Iraq war (1980-1988).

He added that freedom of information should become a basis for both the government and economy, warning that overlooking the Iranian constitution and its contents posed a major challenge to the country.

"The issue of non-compliance with Iranian rules and regulations is the biggest problem that the country is currently faced with," he said.

Moussavi has been a vocal critic of the Ahmadinejad government over its handling of the economy.

The incumbent president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is expected to seek re-election.

In addition to Moussavi, the Reformist camp has also introduced former Parliament (Majlis) Speaker Mehdi Karroubi as its candidate.
