We have some VERY musically talented peeps on this forum, in fact, some of you are so talented it blows me away!
http://www.ri.net/schools/Glocester/FMS/rooms/Ocean/images/Musical%20Notes.gif
But many of you are way too modest about your talent, so I am starting this thread in the hope that I might encourage ALL OF YOU MUSOS to post your mp3 and video links here for others to appreciate as much as I have.....you know who you are ;)
Some of you have already posted, but the threads are now lost, so post again here please :D
I am going to find a place to sticky this thread!!
Now who's going to be first? http://img231.imageshack.us/img231/2335/thumbs20upji5ch2.gif

I've been into making music for near enough 20 years now.
Techno / house / dance / drum n bass / hardcore / trance
Here is a track I made only last week, it's a blend of techno and hip hop, and it has messages for everybody.
Best of all, it stars David Icke in the samples !
The track is called "WAKE UP!"

Samples courtesy of David Icke...'freedom or fascism' 2006.

Hi guys. I produce Psychedelic Trance. Mostly what is called "progressive" or "minimal" psy.
This is a new track I have so far called "Formless". It contains vocal samples from Ram Dass about consciousness etc....
Check it out while I check out these other peoples stuff!;)

It needs to be played loud tho.:D It's all about actually feeling the vibration and being completely engulfed by the atmosphere and FX. It needs to be experienced at a festival to really give you the feel of it. Like this:

I enjoyed it. If only mainstream music displayed more of this level of consciousness instead of "ooh, ooh love ya baby blah blah bla...."

I am currently in a band, but the only recordings I have of us are from ages ago, and recorded live with a shitty mic, so I'm a bit reluctant to post them, but here are some recordings of myself and the band, be nice (I play lead guitar and lead vocals):
The band playing "Money" by Pink Floyd (http://media.putfile.com/Money-75)
The band playing the Dr. Phil theme tune!! :D (http://media.putfile.com/Dr-Phil-77)
This is my band playing Sultans Of Swing by Dire Straits live on Irish radio (RTE One). This was ages ago, our current rhythm guitarist was playing drums back then, and fucked up at the end! Also, it's a different guy we know singing. (http://media.putfile.com/My-band-playing-Sultans-Of-Swing-live-on-RTE)
Me just playing some Cream with a backing track. (http://media.putfile.com/Crossroads-Cover)
There's more stuff on the band Bebo page, although the recording again are poor, we go a good Free Bird!

Be nice! :)

I had to edit each sample on Sound Forge first to get the levels of each word equal (took a few days), then run the finished samples through Timeworks Equalizer on Cubase. And plenty of Timeworks Delay and a bit of Timeworks Reverb, seemed to clean it up a lot.

http://myspace.com/prominentsons
when you realize how impressed you are by how good the songs are... pick up a copy of the album for a cheap $10. We're coming out of our own pocket (unsigned/independent) to deliver some quality sounding tracks w/ some conscious/aware lyrics. It's difficult to describe exactly how much has gone into making this album come into fruition.... but it is SO from the heart that any sacrifice it takes to get it some attention is worth it, for us.
so peep... and let us know what you think.
also, there's another member on the forum that i'd like to give a shot out to... DNA-J who's probably too busy workin on his music to notice this thread
http://www.myspace.com/1dna1
dude is updating constantly w/ new stuff... so check back frequently.
PS: If David Icke was as good of a musician as he was researcher and communicator... the masses would probably be aware of some of these issues that we face... which is probably the first step... so please support artists that present a similar message via musicular soundwave :S
:D

wake up: lovin the Icke samples and their arrangement/efx... the beat is solid too... but where is the deep end? Seriously lacking on some sub-woofer type bass. Diggin the breakdown at around the 3.5 mark... but the track drags a bit from that point. (My group and I are guility of having overly long songs... but it seems like people don't have the attention span for 4+min songs these days). I'm defiantly diggin it.
the fundamental: dope scratches!!!!..... loop is super sick too... both ones are as dope as anything on our album (hook us up w/ some production)... yea man... this is my shit. My only criticism is that the slow/(Allan Watt?) part should be a different entity from the first 3:20 of the song... just too differnt/long... JMO though.
S. Simpson:
Go Back to Sleep: a tad o.ver produced (reverb)... and although i liked the theme of the lyrics... the lyrics themself were a lil weak to me (the happiness in your chest when you did something simple like play w/ your cat?)
walk the way...: good groove... again, something about the lead vocal is irkign me (too whispery maybe?)... i'm not really a qualified rock critic though.
Mr. Howard: CHorus should rock... doesn't match the verses to me at all.
The Doorway: Most commercial sounding song to me... maybe just because it doesn't seem to have a message one way or the other.
Overall... you clearly invested in your recordings... it sounds real good... slightly overproduced to me though.
D. William:
now & then: nice voice dude... good mix on the song... nothing really stand out as noticeable... like, i enjoyed that... but it's not in my head at all.
Outside the window: boring... kinda gay *shrug*
come & go: very harmonic (yet rhythmic) which makes me enjoy
like S. Simpson, it sounds like you didn't skimp on recording... not my particular genre of music... but you guys do your thing (i think come and go was my fav)

Limelady, I do appreciate a friendly shove but you need to understand a coupla things about me.
1.I have no means of recording.
2.I cant put out "ordinary" music, the world is drowning in the stuff and most of it is awful.I have to be the best that I can be.Example. I`ve been drawing and painting since I was 7, you think anybody sees my work?No chance, because its not good enough. If someone heard me play and said "that was ok", I`d be gutted.I can be better than that.
3.I said I`ve been playing, I didn`t say I was good.:o

Thanks! We sound a lot better when you're actually in front of us because you can hear everything. The drums don't sound ringy, you can hear me sing. But not a bad attempt with one mic in the middle of a room and a laptop!
We plan to record them a little more professional and record our own songs.
I had a recording of myself playing Surfing With The Alien by Joe Satriani that was baddass but I lost it.

:D Jam ( to improvise based on knowledge of musical, scales, key changes, chords and rythms. Sometimes resulting in an agreeable sounding form of music. With the hope of creating something that sounds like nothing else but sometimes with a pre concieved plan, formula and style of sound in mind. Basically we just pick up a guitar, play it and record it in a jam. I could go on and talk more but music is for listening to. Go listen lol. You'll not hear anything like this anywhere. :D

the ammount of crap which parses off as music these days!!
TECHNO is not music.
it has no talent, anyone can sit in there bedroom and rip off samples and tracks and make new bullshit versions of already existing shit. its nonsense. KILL THE DJ NOW!!
also do not delude yourself any further. your shit sux
if you think your a musician for creating anything as crap as that, your seroiusly mistaken anyone and everyone can make this crap,
thats the problem with the generations of todays, you put so much effort into music, being a musician. learning your instruments. building your talent and skill up for many years. and yet for what. to go to a gig and try and sell your music or cds to make your lifestyle of music that much more complete. yet you cant these fuckign days cause your going to organise a gig and try and sell your cd's to people who want you to buy there CD instead cause everyones in a band these days everyones got a friend in a band. tis bullshit. its NWOs way of watering down the feild. its a complete utter anger enragement for anyone who is truely serious about music because music isnt created by musicians these days its written by the PRODUCER. and marketing and bullsht. oh what whos the next bit thing. this week? someone you never heard the album only the single. never hear another thing from them. they disapear like all the rest WEAK PATHETIC PASS OFF's like they fuckn should.
this is not music. and never will be. pale crap imitation freak!>
get some skill and if your a real musician you know you are. dont kid yourself into thinking your something your not. we can tell!

I LOVE YOU !!!
Ashyr !!
I love you too my friend :)
Actually, i make a few kinds of music, and have done for 20 years....you know nothing about me, so please don't pretend you do :)
I even compose my own classical symphonies...as well as house/dance music...trance....hip hop....drum n bass....ambient....hardcore...old skool..anything but metal stuff :)
I also play the keyboard/synthesizer and acoustic guitar.
You seem to have a chip on your shoulder regarding 'techno-type' music...which is a shame, because it is actually massively popular especially here in the UK and europe.
All that can be heard in nightclubs is dance/house/techno, because it is so popular, and has been very popular in clubs for around 15 years.
You never know Ashyr, one day i might put some of my other stuff up here..then your judgements might be different...then again...who cares..!....I don't !
THANK YOU !!

Ok, I've had a listen through - there's some great talent on here - well done everyone..!
I particularly liked the Stikmata stuff (I've got a soft spot for the wrap, check out Paris for some real anger) and the mercurial war-paint sioux music. That whole thing had a Gong vibe to me, I've always loved that trippy feel.

I'm trying to do something a bit different with guitars, that's my aim. When you get to my age (late thirties) you've heard it all before lol.
My effects are old, the first multi effects zoom box, and I think on some of those tracks on that page I used A bOSS DIGITAL DELAY ( DON'T THINK IT'S BEEN SURPASSED YET, ALL THESE YEARS LATER) oops caps lock.
I think it's about time guitarist's played purely instrumental tracks. Good luck and enjoy what you create and play.

There's more stuff on the band Bebo page, although the recording again are poor, we go a good Free Bird!
http://www.bebo.com/highkings
Be nice! :)
I am listenning to your second song now and am begining to think there must be some link between people who are open to seeing the truth in life and also playing gutar with lots of delay....

I've always like delay and reverb on my guitar.....gives it a more distant and eerie tone. Pink Floyd are amazing too, I love their early stuff.

I actually pay my bills through music at the moment! I play piano but I'm a composer at heart. Went to music school for composition and switched and finished up with Piano Performance. May go back eventually, but not soon. I have a couple of electronica pieces and many "classical." There's also videos of me playing some of my stuff on MySpace way back when ('94-95).
Most of the stuff I've written hasn't and probably won't be recorded. Long story... I haven't bothered to put up any of the stuff I've done of other people's pieces ("classical") b/c it's simply not as good as the top-notch bad-ass concert pianists who I have no desire to become.
I'm still composing (in my little spare time) and will continue to post. Stay tuned!!!
The links are in the sig. Try the trig site first, as it has more pieces.
Any and all feedback is appreciated!

This was the first song that I had written. I wrote this song and put the video together when I was part of a folk rock band called 'The Runaway Days.' Although I was the drummer and did not do the singing, I wanted to get more involved in the song writing process, so originally it was a poem, which we then made into this song.
At the time of writing, I was going through a major time of awakening and had loads of things going through my head.
Anyway, I hope you like it, I suspect many of you may, it's called "2012"

Blimey, what an amazing thread to suddenly discover! I rarely get past all the other ones, and here is me desperate to find new music to listen to. The Secondskin is really nice, the first music I have listened to so far. It's going to take a lifetime to keep up with this thread! I'll need a faster computer!
I'm 46, started learning the guitar and double bass about 10 years ago. I love music and am so bored with everything I've ever learned to play, I'm getting through 3-4 songs a week all covers, currently realising that Wonderwall and Mad World (Tears for Fears version) share similar chord progressions in F sharp minor. I love Carl Perkins who had a massive impact on a huge load of musicians. I play double bass in the Bad Apples (Grimsby UK), who have a myspace space, and we gig loudly a bit, and we jam loudly a bit.
I look forward to this thread!
Well done everybody.

Tequila Dealer:
only recording I ever did with my still existing band. this is from 2004. we have improved alot since then but I still like the tracks very much. I play the drums. Track five is from 2003 and for me is the greatest jam we ever had.
Nahash:
A band I formed two years ago. We only rehearsed 3 or 4 times then I lost interest because I got bored with the drummer. I play guitar and do the vocals.
'Over Whispering Oecans' and 'Sapphire Eyes' are just me. I need to record more because I always feel that I can only really express myself when playing all instruments by myself. I have tons of ideas but I am doing nothing with it. But one day I will and than expect some very spaced out music. ;)

That's how I look at music.....it's a great subliminal weapon......well done also on topping the avante rock chart too......I'd really like to get my music across through a new network too...the thing I keep running into is that what I do doesn't fit neatly into a category like soul or reggae...it has aspects of them and other things...maybe some kind of "alternative" charts...what do you reckon?
Thanks.;)

And I thank you. Heh, you're like me with music being hard to classify so alternative was the way to go. Originally I was defining it as rock, but like you say, there are too many influences so I picked avant rock. Sounds tremendously fabulous, dahling!
Avant Rock: avant-garde rock is a type of music based on rock and roll which experiments with the basic elements of the genre, and/or which pushes the boundaries of common composition and performance technique.
Performers may also attempt to individualize their music with unconventional time signatures, instrumental tunings, compositional styles, lyrical techniques, elements of other musical genres, singing styles, instrumental effects or custom-made experimental musical instruments.

Hey cheers QT.......Like yerself, I think the alternative thing is probably where my music fits right now.... yet music's an infinite thing innit? It's a bit like when Icke talks about belief systems and says if you can name it, it puts limits/parameters on it.....very true of musicians who want to evolve.....

So any of you brainwashed fools want to listen to original creative music straight from the heart or are you too brainwashed listening to the Brotherhood's commercial bullshit to even know what real music is? My music is the real deal.
Ecclesiastes 1:9 The thing that has been, it is that which shall be; and that which is done is that which shall be done: and there is no new thing under the sun. 10. Is there any thing whereof it may be said, See, this is new? it has been already of old time, which was before us.
I don't think it's possible to find an original piece of music. Creative yes. But really, it is ALL about making music from the heart. As long as it's from the heart, who gives a shit what's coming out. You can feel the sincerity in a piece of music, and it's all that matters.

My bands debut album is released today! (see signature link)
We have our biggest gig so far in a few hours & I have a hangover & feel sick! stupid stupid stupid! :o:(
Wish me luck! (or rather don't! it's bad luck to do that!!)
...I'm not superstitious...it's unlucky! ;):D
How'd the gig go? And where are you selling your cd? Obviously you can't advertise so if you tell only me by replying to this post and everyone else agreeing not to read your reply, then it's not advertising! ;)

Whats Tunecore?
NIN and Steve Vai etc use it - I'm almost tearing my hair out looking for the rest of my wavs though, 'cause they want wav uploads instead of mp3. I can find my arrangements, but not the mixdowns...my hard drives are a MESS. Also, I need to finish my artwork before I can go live.
Tunecore seems a pretty good deal, have a looksie. There's a 'Take A Tour' link on the left. It submits to Amazon, iTunes, and other online retailers etc :)
"What's it cost?
TuneCore charges $0.99 per track, $0.99 per store per album, and $19.98 per album per year storage and maintenance. Or, just put up one song as a single for a flat price of $9.99 per year, all stores included."
So basically, you pay that and sell as many units as you want/can/dream.

I know, and she's great too. We'll get her in for recording, but she's just turned 21 and wants to experience the bright lights, so I wish her well.
Do you know what date it is? I have some solo gigs booked. Did you see my second Tunecore post? :)

That's the best thing about the digital age. Aside from illegal downloading, it gives artists power. And illegal downloading hurts the big labels more than anything, ha.
I shall abstain from carousing with them!

I will generally only download stuff from major labels, if an artist in self-releasing or on a (proper) indie label then I'll download to listen then, if I like it, I buy it - I think that's only fair.
I have previously just paypal'd a band some money when I got hold of one of the releases on a torrent - they were really landed! :D

I believe the truth will set you free
I don't believe the papers,
i don't believe the news
'cos all that they serve you are opinionated views,
I don't switch on my tv, as all they do is lie
i don't need no programming telling me what to buy.
But i believe, i believe the truth will set you free
But i believe, i believe the truth will set you free
I don't believe in aliens,
and i don't believe in god,
i don't believe in war or the reasons why they're fought,
I don't believe celebrities
pretending to be what they ain't
"Make poverty history", they sing, posing as saints
But i believe, i believe the truth will set you free
But i believe, i believe the truth will set you free
I don't believe the justice system
will give you what you deserve,
it's all run by bent-judges and lucifer they serve.
I don't believe that banks are honest,
they'll fleece you to the bone,
and when there's nothing left to get, they'll even take your home
But i believe, i believe the truth will set you free.

That really sounds the part. The instrumentation is just as interesting as the vocal element. I played this through my main listening system and it had a lovely organic feel to it. Made me realise that i listen to too much electronic based music!
Btw, did you ever find out who that dog belonged to? :)

Cheers!!!
That's the thing with *real* instruments it's all just vibrating wood making waves, maybe i'll place a "trees were killed to make this recording" sticker on the front. :)
Still have to *shift* some of the bum notes on the double-bass, redo the vocals (won't go on the piss the night before) and add some dobro slides and a cajon box..
Then again i might redo it and reduce it down to about 3 1/2 minutes as it's almost 5 minutes long.. won't ever get airplay with a song that long regardless of "catchiness".
Mind you, for that to happen i'd have to sell my soul and suck satan's c*ck... nah fuck it.... :P
eh.. nope, still don't know whose dog it is.. but it's fucking huge.

There is so much talent in this thread I'm a bit embarrassed at posting this.
Its one of my weird little tunes written a few years ago now...but I wheeled myself out in public (for the first time in ages) and did a couple of tunes in support of my friends band 'Marshal Bravestar', who are really good :)
It was only filmed on a phone so it's not the greatest quality and to my knowledge it's the only time I've been filmed in the act :o
