Hi all,
We are currently making an informative video about Aspartame which we plan to release on mass to our local area.
Obviously we know about the major products that contain this chemical such as diet products / gum / yoguhrts etc...
If anyone knows of any somewhat suprising products that contain aspartame (walkers crisps for example) could you please list them here.
Many Thanks
VG

Maybe you can find some 'surprising' products here:
http://supersweetblog.wordpress.com/list-of-products-containing-aspartame/ (Uncle Ben's cooking sauce, may be surprising)
http://www.aspartame.ca/page_a2a.html (painrelievers, vitamins)
http://www.dorway.com/products.txt
(Glaxo pharmaceuticals: Zantac)
(looking at those sites made me sick)
Good luck :)

Yogurt: FDA Plays Hide the Poison

The National Yogurt Association (NYA) has petitioned our FDA (Fatal Drugs Allowed) bureaucracy to ditch the requirement that chemicals added to food must be identified by name on the label. NYA wants to conceal their use of aspartame, otherwise called NutraSweet and Equal, from consumers. Like maybe they’ll call it natural flavor or some other imaginative alias.
Now why would they want to do that? Because smart consumers know about aspartame toxicity and avoid it like the plague. (It is.) A few days ago Equal producer Merisant filed for bankruptcy, reporting assets of $331 million against $561 million debt. Their submarine is $230,000,000 under water.
Once aspartame/NutraSweet/Equal was the billion-dollar queen of sweeteners. One that the FDA faithfully refused to approve for 16 years from the date it was created. Don Rumsfeld ran G. D. Searle, the company making it. He was Reagan’s buddy, so hours after Ronnie was inaugurated, in the middle of the night, the honest FDA Commissioner was fired. Next morning stooge Arthur Hayes was appointed who approved aspartame over the objections of FDA’s scientific board, then bailed out into the arms of NutraSweet’s PR firm as a consultant on a ten year contract for $1000.00 a day. He sold his soul for $365 million dollars.
Three congressional hearings and countless research reports and papers by renowned doctors confirm the deadly chemistry of aspartame, a multi-potential carcinogen concluded the Ramazzini Institute after a 3-year study on 1,800 rats. FDA listed 92 adverse reactions, including death, in their report on 10,000 consumer complaints volunteered by American consumers. Even the National Soft Drink Association petitioned FDA to deny aspartame approval, which objections were published in the 5/7/1985 Congressional Record, Senate.
The Jan.15, 2009 Federal Register, pg 2446-7 notes:
With respect to NYA’s recommended provision that would permit yogurt to contain non-nutritive sweeteners and be labeled simply “yogurt” without a specific declaration of the non-nutritive sweetener in the name of the food, comments were varied…. several consumers and at least one State government agency strongly opposed this provision … that removal of this identification would be misleading to consumers and could prove harmful to those individuals with Phenylketonuria.
Next comes consumer and dairy farmer objections to the NYA proposal that cheaper, inferior and imported ( from China?) ingredients be OK’d in what they’ll call yogurt. You see, when they make it cheaper they get richer, and who do you think you are to be told its just phony toxic stuff called “yogurt”, not the real thing.
The FDA concludes this action will promote honesty and fair dealing. How fair is hiding poison and concealing trash in your food? Consider exporting and misleading other countries as well. The public has to learn to only buy organic yogurt - know what’s in it.
Please immediately read the Federal Register at this URL and write. We can’t allow this to happen. It must be stopped immediately and there is little time. We only have until March.

This is a very interesting and thorough article. I straight away went to our database to see if I could find Aspartame containing products.
http://www.foodessentials.com/pages/search.jsp?query=aspartame+yogurt&x=0&y=0&startnum=0&sortColumn1=Aspartame&sortColumn1Order=2
Generally, I found that there was an aspartame containing product in many of the yogurt categories including, but not exclusively: Vanilla Flavor, Peach Flavor, Cherry Flavor, Other Flavor, and others.
Generally, it was in products that marketed themselves as “light” or diet products.
hope this helps. Keep up the good work in getting the info out there.

Any artificial sweetener should really be avoided, though none to my knowledge come anywhere near aspartame in terms of poison.
Sadly, since sugar has been demonized so much in the media it's virtually impossible to buy any drinks today that aren't boasted to have "No Added Sugar". They stick that stupid slogan on every bloody drink going, and the parents think they're doing their kids a favour by buying them sugar free drinks.
It's disgusting

I was wondering the other day about saccharin as its in strongbow cider which I had started drinking recently, ive actually stopped now because of this, its probably still kinda dodgy like most sweeteners.
I was surprised to see lemsips the cold remedy has aspartame :(

I was really pissed off a couple of years ago. I liked to chew some gum now and then and I fell into the trap about sugar free gum and the beneficial effects of chewing to help clean your teeth. Yeah I know now ok.
Anyway, ALL the chewing gum you can buy contains aspartame so I no longer chew gum. Ever. I am now on the Trebor Extra Strong Mints, these are currently aspartame free and I hope it stays that way.
Practically EVERY single bottle of cordial or "squash" you can buy in the supermarket contains aspartame. Trust me, I look everytime. Ribena is ok, NOT the tooth-kind variety (how sickening) and I guess that explains why it's so expensive. Even the higher-brow brands like Robinsons of "no added sugar" fame have aspartame. A friend of mine makes his own cordials, using elderflower and berries so this can be averted. If you switch to just drinking water, who knows what shite comes out of our taps - our thirsts are being thwarted wherever we turn.
So aspartame. It's everywhere. I notice a lot of ascesulfame and sorbitol being used now as well, I think they are trying to throw us of the scent. Be wary!

Hello! I just had a seizure two weeks ago and my family believes it was caused by aspartame. Therefore, I bought aspartame free drinks...Before my seizure I used to drink an average of 6 cups of soda a day! Yes, six. Actually maybe an average of 8, diet sodas.
Now I am going to stop. It will be hard. Diet soda is like my cigs.
But I found Splenda. DOes anyone know if SPLENDA is dangerous too?
What can I expect from stopping my major consumption of aspartame????
I actually found evidence of a study of aspartame in monkeys...it caused seizures when taken in high dosage, like me. :D

I actually found evidence of a study of aspartame in monkeys...it caused seizures when taken in high dosage, like me. :D
Take a look at this dude,http://jstevens.wordpress.com/2008/02/20/how-sucralose-aka-splenda-is-made-and-why-you-want-to-avoid-it/

I got some of that BUBBLE TAPE Bubble gum for christmas and i was just looking over the ingredients yesterday and guess what i saw??
I STOPPED EATING IT STRAIGHT AWAY!!
Its like they purposely put this shit into things where IT IS NOT NEEDED just to try and cause people problems so they have to go see a doctor and spend money correcting it!!!

I agree it seems that way especially when they upgrade the gum, and say it now has more longer lasting flavor to get people to buy it only to find out it has this artifical garbage in it. Big example is Juicy Fruit I used to like this gum but can't have it anymore. I tried one pack of it, and got this awful headache. Makes me more suspicious that the gum all of a sudden has this chemical when it didn't need it before. Why would you need sugar free gum it is not going to help you lose weight. Nothing beats real sugar this artifical garbage tastes nasty to me. Also stay away from Koolaid instant drink packets. You don't have to make a whole pitcher of Koolaid but you pay the price by pouring this junk in your water bottle.

Oasis drinks have sugar & aspartame
you'll find that most chewing gums have aspartame AND flouride. We should cal them "dumb gum" from now on...
You can get aspartame free gums in the health shops in my country.
But it`s somehow expensive, but there is no chemicals in.
It`s all natural.
