It's obvious how they do it if you look at the one detail that seems a bit 'out of place' in those photographs.

Ask yourself - why do they need that stick?

It's an illusion that has been used by magicians for hundreds of years.

The stick is made of very strong material and placed in a hole in the ground which keeps it solidly upright.

The other end of the stick is connected to a harness with a folding metal frame which the illusionist locks into position, once they reach the desired height. Usually the illusionist will wear long, or flowing garments to hide the harness.

For this reason, you will never see anyone perform the stunt naked!

Edit: I just noticed the photo of the man by the wall. It's the same stunt, only the harness is connected from the right through the back of his jacket. I would like to see how he got up there in the first place - I'd be surprised if he did it in front of the audience.

The rule still stands however. The illusionist is always connected to something. If someone is actually floating around in the air without wires or strings (or holding a stick or leaning against a wall), that would be interesting (a noiseless jetpac perhaps?!!)
