ok, i went out for tapas with my pal from gana who was brought up as roman catholic (friend A) - no problem, but tonight she said she was bringing a friend whom i haven't met (B) - again no problem.

her friend (B) early on in the evening made a point she had indian and hindu heritage - again not a problem (but why bring this up), and i kept my beliefs to myself and went on to enjoy the evening.

half hour into some fantastic rioja and chorizo B said she met some really nice bloke recently who floated her boat but there was no way forward as he was from a different class and religion!!!

I was not listening to this type of shit so i said "well if your heart chakra tells you its all good, why have a religion as a dividing line".

a long silence ensued (so i quickly dived in for that last piece of cheese ).

She began to tell me that her family brought her up as hindu and she did not want to dissapoint them by being with any1 from a different religion.

I told her that surely this is a type of racism and asked her does she think being brought up within a religion is iindoctrination? ..oops

this led to a 3/4 hour debate/ruk between the 3 of us.

when i stated i am no part of any religion but i believe i am part of a one concsousness, they told me i was preaching, and that having any beliefs or morales is the same as having a religion. I refuted this but one bloke against 2 girls is tough going i can tell you

They both admitted their religions where man made and a set of ideals and that these facts where positive and of no relevance!!!???!!

basically, my conclusion is that there is no way to get thro to any1 who has been brought up from birth into a set of rules, the programming is far far too deep.

next time, i will stay in and (attempt to) cook! :(

You broke rule no. 1! Don't voice your opinion, unless asked!

Remember, religious people have a mask they were, they are not likely to drop it....sad really....:(
