HELL NAWWWW!!!

I got so fucked up last night, I passed out
Assed out, man, I couldn't even get to the house
And I know I shouldn't been drinkin' on an empty stomach
But the fliest said 'Open bar', I said, fuck it

Went from vodka to rum, from rum to cognac
My body feel like I've been fightin' in combat
And I've been coughin' up yellow shit, breakin' a sweat
I've been shakin' like a leaf but that's just what I get

For pourin' my own poison and throwin' it back
And it's not enough to just know better, you gotta act
I know I said that the last time
But I was havin' such a good time
The liquor just took over my mind

And I don't wanna be an ill Scott Hall ya'll
But when you're livin' in the bottle then a brother stop carin'
'Coz the one's who made that alcohol ain't my friend
But the sad part is I'ma probably do it again, goddamn

No more fire-water for my ass, I'll post it here so that I remember my declaration. It's a trick. Subtle like that fruity serpent of the vine.

29 Who has woe? Who has sorrow?
Who has strife? Who has complaints?
Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?

30 Those who linger over wine,
who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.

31 Do not gaze at wine when it is red,
when it sparkles in the cup,
when it goes down smoothly!

32 In the end it bites like a snake
and poisons like a viper.

33 Your eyes will see strange sights
and your mind imagine confusing things.

34 You will be like one sleeping on the high seas,
lying on top of the rigging.

35 "They hit me," you will say, "but I'm not hurt!
They beat me, but I don't feel it!
When will I wake up
so I can find another drink?"

Exactly what I was thinking!

First you take a drink, then the drink takes a drink, then the drink takes you!

...And sometimes, I drink to forget I drink...

There are lots of things people can do to socialize and relax.

That people think it needs to strictly revolve around pubs and alcohol shows somewhat of a lack of imagination, imo.

Do any of those things;

1) Soothe tha spirits
2) Kill (Both physical AND Emotional) pain, albeit temporarily
3) Help you to sleep

...if so please do inform.

I myself had to cut down my drinking dramatically. Like, I cut 95% of it out. I was a severe alcoholic. Consistantly hurting my family, friends, love interests, and most of all myself. Looking back, I felt like shit ALL THE TIME! I drank probably 5 days of the week. I had built up such a tolerance that it was hard to get drunk anymore, and I never threw up, etc.

About two weeks ago I drank and threw up all over myself. I have no tolerance anymore, but thats a good thing. I probably drink only once a month now. Sometimes it goes alright, and sometimes it doesnt, but life is WAY better now. I don't know why I quit, I think I was tired of using it as an excuse for all my screw ups, because in the end I knew there was still no excuse.

I use hypnotherapy and on my last visit I asked my therapist to implant some anti alcohol feelings into my unconscious. I'd been seeing someone for a couple of months who thought I would binge drink and he was prolly right.

Since the session I can't drink anything alcoholic at all. The thought of it makes me feel ill. It's a fabulous thing for my health, although I didn't drink often when I did I had a habit of going mad with it and would feel yuck for a couple of days after. I havent been out with the girls since so I dont know how Im gonna feel when Im surrounded by it and drunk people, but it's good stuff so far.

I recently had a VERY BAD experience with booze, so now seriously thinking of giving up alltogether, full stop ! It simply ain't worth it anymore. I have been meaning to pack it in for a while now, and as is so typical of me, I seem to need shocking moments to bring about drastic change in my behaviour. Well I gave up ciggies after smoking for nigh on 20 years and I gave up eating meat..so this is just something else. I always feel so brilliant when I don't drink, so have to keep that in mind

I also so believe the booze that is peddled out in, say, Wetherspoons is not the same stuff as the "elite" consume, who knows what they put in booze these days...if the chem trailing, fast food, floridation, MSG, aspartaime and the water supply don't get ya first...

Thanx for the post consciousness84 I find alot of what you saying resonates with me also.

With me I am finding now that even one drink seems to negatively effect me, it's like the whole of the rest of my day is just wasted, I won't really be fit for anything productive and I feel my consciousness alters..and that is after just ONE drink..so my body is now really intollerant...which is GREAT !! I know when my body has had enough of something, you find it simply cannot deal with it anymore.

Cannabis:

--is inexpensive, only mildly addictive (http://www.thegooddrugsguide.com/cannabis/addiction.htm), nontoxic, doesn't make you violently ill if you consume too much of it, and it produces no "hangover".

Why even bother with getting drunk?
